The Influence of the Partnership on the Father's role
Chomiszaková, Alexandra ; Presslerová, Pavla (advisor) ; Valentová, Hana (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to study and better understand the experience of fathers in how their partner helps shape their role as a father. The theoretical part describes changes in the concept of fatherhood that we observe in society, as well as ways of conceptualising fatherhood and the influence of the female partner. The constructs of co-parenting and gatekeeping are explained in connection with the influence of the female partner and parenthood as other potential approaches to grasping and understanding the phenomenon of fatherhood. The empirical part presents the results of qualitative research, which was carried out with the use of interpretive phenomenological analysis and semi-structured interviews. The topics that emerge from the analysis are the answers to the research question. The topic of partnership, especially its quality and mutual closeness, appears to be essential. This is further reflected in the fathers' self-evaluation as well as the level of the fatherhood experience. Another important area is the division of roles and competencies, which is influenced by whether the female partner has a traditional or liberal approach to parenting. Communication, which is a reflection but also a product of a partnership, is also an essential factor. The partner's influence is also evident in...
The Expulsion of Germans from Přebuz and the Transformation of the Town in the Postwar Period
Valentová, Hana ; Čechurová, Jana (advisor) ; Andrš, Pavel (referee)
To this day, the expulsion of Germans from Czechoslovakia after the Second World War can be counted among controversies in the history of Central Europe. Until 1989, this topic was a grey zone in our historiography. Naturally it was influenced by the regime at that time, whose collapse resulted in a research boom. At the same time, questions about the adequacy of the deportations arose. To this day, answers to these questions remain quite different. It often depends on where the response comes from. It is important to realize that the deportations greatly affected the lives of ordinary people. This thesis deals with the expulsion of Germans from Přebuz and the subsequent development of the town in the postwar period. In order to give a complete picture of the state of affairs in Přebuz before the deportations, one part will also be dedicated to the historical development and the population of the town since its founding until the end of the Second World War. The thesis deals with the German population in the town in the period between 1945 and 1989, which was not viewed sfavourably at that time. The consequences of the expulsion of Germans on the town itself, namely its depopulation and attempts at populating it again, are also taken into consideration. Attention will also be paid to the so called...

The period is examined through the theoretical concepts of "emerging adulthood" and "quarter-life crisis". The theoretical part of the thesis defines the current concept of adulthood and then mentions relevant psychological theories (E. H. Erikson; J. Marcia; D. Levinson; J. J. Arnett or O. Robinson). The practical part reports on the progress and results of a research study based on the principles of qualitative methodology. Eight individual semi-structured interviews have been conducted in the first phase. The research sample consists of a group of women and men aged 25-30, childless with a minimum education at the secondary school level. The recorded interviews were then subjected to a thematic analysis in the second phase. The result of the study is a comprehensive description of seven topics related to adulthood. Topics include a summary of the research participants' definitions of adulthood; notion of their own maturity or maturity in relation to other people. The results further reflect the familiarity and experience of the research group with the quarter-life crisis phenomenon. Negative thoughts in mothers
Janusová, Štěpánka ; Presslerová, Pavla (advisor) ; Valentová, Hana (referee)
1 ABSTRACT This thesis explores negative thoughts in mothers in the context of the early years of their first- born child's life. The theoretical part of the thesis is divided into three parts: the first presents the negative thoughts and accompanying emotions of mothers from the perspective of psychopathology, the second from the perspective of social psychology, and the third places them in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. The research part of the thesis presents the research questions, the method of interpretative phenomenological analysis, the characteristics of the research sample, data collection through semi-structured interviews and additional written questions, and it presents the findings. First, mothers experience content-similar negative thoughts that are accompanied by similar negative emotions; and furthermore, we can find similar developments over time. Second, the evolution of negative thoughts was associated with a change in their interpretations and a change in coping strategies. If mothers evaluated their negative thoughts and emotions as normal and natural, they coped better with them, managed to confide them to others and thus reduced their negative impact on the child. The perception of oneself as a good enough mother plays a key role here. Thirdly, expectations play an important...

Valentová, Hana ; Končelík, Jakub (advisor) ; Cihlářová, Gabriela (referee)
This thesis examines two Czech leading dailies and their coverage of the US presidential election in 2004. Based on the quantitative content analysis of Mlada fronta Ones and Hospodatske noviny during the period of one month leading to the election (i.e . beginning with the first presidential debate) the main aim of the study is to identify and describe the different approaches undertaken by the abovementioned newspapers. The hypothesis assume s that the MF Ones dealt mainly with 'popular aspects' of the election (like meeting s, image and character of the candidates, their families etc.) , while the Hospodarske noviny focused more on political and platform issues. The study is divided into two parts . The first one addresses the theoretical background - brief remarks regarding the media and elections in general; the outline of the presidential campaign within the realm of media and journalistic coverage; the analysis of the news values champ ioned by the Czech media ; and finally the characteristic of the analyzed newspapers. The second part is designed more practical in scope: it states the aim of the study as well as the employed methodology and code book. Last but not least it contains the results of the analysis and their interpretation. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Legislation of Family and Relationships between Parents and Children (with Insights into Past and Future)
Valentová, Hana ; Hendrychová, Michaela (advisor) ; Šustek, Petr (referee)
The presented thesis provides a comprehensive view of the current legislation on family and parents-children relationships, including insights into past and future. Being a still hot topic is the reason why I chose it for my thesis. Two introductory chapters discuss historical context of family and development of legal relationships between parents and children to date. The family has evolved over time, developed and changed and so has the status of its individual members, which was all reflected in legislation (paternal power, parental power, parental rights and duties, parental responsibilities). The current concept of family is described in Chapter 3, followed by Chapter 4 which gives general characteristics of family law and legal relations within the family, including the definitions of basic concepts used in the rest of the work. Key Chapter 5 discusses the concept of parental responsibilities brought into our law by the so-called "big amendment" to the Family Code (Act No. 91/1998 Coll.). In exercising these rights and duties, parents are obliged to protect the best interests of the minor child, to control his or her actions and to exercise supervision over him or her. The parent-child relationship is equal and both its parties are holders of complementary rights and duties. In all actions, child's...
