Educational Possibilities of Abstract Painting at the Primary School

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of abstract painting in primary school. The aim of this work is to describe and evaluate in detail the process of student understanding of the principles of abstract painting in the process of an art project realized in the second grade. The theoretical part describes the current concept of art education - pedagogical constructivism, visual literacy, interpretation, reflection and reflective dialogue, creation, artwork in teaching and assessment. The theoretical part also includes the relationship between art and curriculum. The next chapter is devoted to painting and its types, then abstract painting is described - what it is, when it was created and what influenced it. One of the representatives of abstract painting, František Kupka, is also mentioned with two of his important abstract works, which the students try to interpret. The practical part contains the progress and evaluation of the author's pedagogical action research. This is a project that leads pupils to an encounter with abstract painting and gradually to a greater understanding of it. Portfolio in Art Education

The thesis is focused on the portfolio a a didactic tool in the teaching of the art education at the first stage of the primary school. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the portfolio and its various types. It focuses on the student's work portfolio, the electronic portfolio and the professional portfolio as a tool for the development of the self-reflective and the self-assessment competencies of pupils and teachers. It is also devoted the assessment with focusing of the formative evaluation in the teaching. The last chapter is devoted the art education and the evaluation of the art education through the portfolio. The practical part is built on the portfolios of the pupils works , on the electronic portfolio and the professional portfolio through the implementation of the art project which is called by trees and leaves. The aim of the practical part was the creation of the individual portfolios, which was created in the specific year of the primary school. Gender in contemporary art - motherhood as specific theme

Theoretical part is focused on the philosophical and historical solutions which led to poststtructural and feministic approach to the gender identity. The art reflexive part seeks the visual parallel to above mentioned approach in art, respectively in the art depicting mother identity. Didactic part of the work provides possible option on how to get the gender identity theme over to the high school students. The work itself is a personal reflection of the maternity corporality topic.
GENDER IN ART EDUCATION

The dissertation addresses, both theoretically and practically, gender issues in the teaching of art education (AE) at the lower secondary schools. In the theoretical framework, the author defines the concept of gender from a postmodern point of view and places it in a broader cultural and historical context. Gender is further explored in detail through selected post/structural theories, including Jacques Lacan's psychoanalytic theory of subjectivity, Michel Foucault's discursive formation of the subject, Judith Butler's gender performativity, Margaret Mead's anthropological conception of femininity and masculinity, and semiotic character theories. The theoretical part also focuses on explaining the paradigm shift in the pedagogical sciences, a description of the necessary balance of radical and postmodern pedagogical constructivism in relation to cultural values and the fulfillment of general and specific educational goals of art education and transformation of contemporary Czech school culture. The possibilities of semiotic gender analysis are described here as specific didactic methods of working with visual representations in the teaching of discursively conceived art education. Archetype in fairy tales and fine arts

This thesis is focused on the topic of archetypes in fairy tales and on their visual representations in fine arts. In the theoretic part of my thesis, I refer mainly to the work of Carl Gustav Jung and Marie-Louise von Franz, my own experiences with fairy tales and acquired data from my questionnaire, which was primarily focused on visual ideas (colours and shapes) associated with certain fairy-tale characters by respondents. The purpose of my work was to present the concept of archetype and its possible meanings. The second purpose was to define literature archetypes of European fairy tales with regards to their functions and to gender, stereotypical and visual ideas associated with them. The end of the theoretic part of the thesis is dedicated to Czech visual artists and to their ways of working with fairy-tale topics or motives. I emphasize the influence of Symbolism and Art Nouveau, but illustrations of fairy-tale books since the beginning of the 20th century are emphasized as well. In the next two parts of my thesis I suggest possible realization of the topic of fairy tale in didactic series (for the school subjects of Czech language and literature and Art) and I also present my literature and art project - an author's fairy-tale book.
