Psychological aspects of gender at work and in management

V současné době se do středu zájmu odborníků z oblasti věd o člověku a společnosti dostala problematika rovných příležitostí pro muže a ženy, která má zásadní vliv i na život každého z nás. Velmi aktuální a významná je zejména pro hospodářskou praxi, a to z hlediska působení jednotlivců v pracovním procesu, kde stále existují určité limity pokud jde o reálné možnosti uplatnění žen, a to jak ve funkcích řadových zaměstnanců, tak především v oblasti managementu. Výraznější zájem o tuto problematiku v našich podmínkách přitom podnítilo zejména postupné pronikání informací o hnutí za zrovnoprávnění šancí pro ženy, které dlouhodobě existuje v USA a západoevropských zemích. Kromě toho se zde však podílely i již delší dobu trvající rozpory mezi mírou zaměstnanosti u mužů a žen ve vztahu k jejich možnostem a hmotnému ocenění jejich práce. A konečně nejvýznamnější měrou se v současnosti na bouřlivém vývoji zájmu o tuto problematiku aktuálně podepsala i nutnost přizpůsobit naší legislativu podmínkám EU. Ve vztahu k této problematice se dnes již běžně používá anglický pojem gender (rod, pohlaví). V mezinárodních souvislostech se užívá především ve vztahu k ženám a rovnosti jejich uplatnění ve společnosti. Women in Upper Management: Perceptions of Experts and Female Top Managers

Hlavním cílém této diplomové práce bylo analyzovat současnou situaci žen ve vyšším managementu ve vybraných společnostech s hlavním zaměřením na Českou republiku. Dále prozkoumat baríery, kterým ženy čelí pří jejich cestě na manažerské pozice a poskytnout doporučení budoucím manažerkám. Tato práce se skládá ze dvou částí a to části teoretické a praktické. V první části jsou analyzovány teoretické pojmy spojené s termínem gender, současná situace žen v managementu a ženský styl vedení. Praktická část diplomové práce je rozdělěna na dvě další části. V první části jsou provedeny rozhovory s ženami z vyššího managementu, které pocházejí z různých společností. V druhé části je tato problematika analyzována z pohledu odborníku ze společnosti Hays Česká republika.

This Master Thesis aims to provide a clear overview about corporate communication practices and importance of a common corporate language in the multinational corporation with diversified portfolio of employees. Theoretical part introduces theoretical background which are further applied into practices in the practical part of the paper. This academic paper critically looks at a practices within a particular multinational corporation and its practical application which influences efficiency at the work place.
Developing career paths with emphasis on technical professionals of the selected company

The main objective of the thesis is to explain and advocate the topic of career paths and construct career paths for technical professionals of the selected company. The thesis then has several secondary objectives.This thesis is divided into two parts. The first part provides a theoretical framework for career paths in terms of getting into the topic of career paths and explaining the purpose, and furthermore, provides a guide for career path framework construction. The second, practical part focuses on the selected technological company that wishes to remain anonymous. Based on the theory and partially extracted from the interviews with the company experts, the career paths framework for technical professionals is constructed. To ensure that the framework is valuable for the company, feedback for the proposed framework is gathered and implemented in the thesis.
Leading Multicultural Teams. Case Study of XYZ.

The main objective of the thesis is to analyze the topic of leading multicultural teams, with a specific attention to the particular example of the company XYZ; and answer the research questions with the gathered data and construct recommendations. The theoretical part provides a comprehensive overview of the concepts of multinational corporations, teams, multicultural teams and leadership. The assumptions derived from the theory serve as a base for the following empirical part, where the theoretical research is completed with a qualitative study. The qualitative study was conducted in cooperation with the company XYZ and professionals working directly in the multicultural teams were interviewed. By combining the findings from both theoretical and empirical part, many of the assumed benefits, especially the increased creativity, of the multicultural teams were confirmed. However, the negative aspects were identified as well, with the more difficult communication above all.
Framing and its Effect on Misinformation

The aim of this research is to determine the extent to which the framing of information can reduce the persistence of misinformation. The overall research consists of two experiments of which the first has been conducted and is described in this paper. It investigates the strength of differently framed statements and the degree to which the regulatory focus fit the participants experienced influenced their preference for certain statements. 52 participants have completed the survey in which they were presented several statements containing the same facts but framed differently based on the principles of valence message framing. The research found the positive goal frame, positive valence frame and the company s original statement to be most effective. These statements will form the basis for the second experiment which aims to combine the different frames in such a manner that the continued influence effect will be reduced.
Stress and coping strategies of exposed profession

The aim of the thesis is to point out the stress factors present in the profession of a firefighter, define the concept of stress and suggest the options of coping with stressful and challenging situations. The thesis consists of theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part is focused on clarifying the definition of the concept of stress, its types, manifestations and potential stressors. In addition, conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder, burnout, coping with stressful situations and Eysenck personality typology factors are explained. The empirical part is focused on the analysis of coping strategies, used by firefighters on the selected workplace and their connection to temperament, age and years of service. Based on the analysis, recommendations for management in HaZZ Nitra are suggested.
Male and Female Identity in Contemporary Society Focusing on the Labor Market

The aim of the master's thesis is to describe male and female identity in today's society. The first chapter includes basic expressions connected with key terms gender and gender stereotypes. This thesis is focusing on equality of genders and the enshrinement of equality rights in law. This thesis also includes the analysis of the current status of women in the European Union based on data from the Eurobarometer and the Czech Statistical Office survey. The aim of the graduation thesis is to analyse the perception of men and women in today's society, to determine how strongly are stereotypical perceptions rooted in society, how is perceived the equality of men and women in labour market and how opinions on this issue differ among Czech Republic citizens and among European Union citizens.
Analýza programu Nestlé Kariérní poradenství pro univerzitní studenty a čerstvé absolventy

The main goal of the thesis is to analyse the current situation of Nestlé Career Counselling program and make proposals which would lead to the increasing quality of this program. The thesis also stated to secondary aims. The thesis is structured into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part of this thesis aims at mapping the theoretical background of Career Counselling. It is divided into two chapters. The First chapter describes the theoretical framework of Career Counselling including history of Career Counselling and Current Situation also describing the characteristics of Generation Y. The Second chapter describes Types of Career Counselling concentrating on Institutional and Corporate Career Counselling. The Practical part is also divided into two chapters. First the company Nestlé is described, including also the history and Nestlé needs youth initiative. The Last chapter deals with Nestlé Counselling, the development of the program is mapped and analysed. Furthermore, the analysis of statistical date and students´ survey were conducted. Finally, the SWOT analysis of the program is done and there have been made proposals for the year 2016.
Harmonization between work and family life of employed women and businesswomen

The aim of this thesis is to gather data within the harmonization proces between work and family life at addressed families where is the woman´s role either an employee or businesswoman. The theoretical part deals with aspects which help women with easier harmonization between two lifes areas - work and family. Specifically, this part deals with various forms of child care and types of financial support provided by the state. The thesis also solves the forms of flexible working hours, with emphasis on their current use across the European Union countries. The practical part is focused on mapping strategies in addressed families with a woman who is in labour-law relation and families with a businesswoman. For these purposes were chosen families (men and women) with which we were making inteviews and questionnaires focused on the time allocated to various tasks in one day.
