The Quality of life of Poeple, Who Labour With Grandual Lossing Sight
Novotná, Jana ; Chloubová, Helena (advisor) ; Výborný, Petr (referee)
My master thesis treats of problems of quality of life of people, whose sight has been broken, and they have been gradually lossing it during their life. Theoretical part is focused on the quality of life, sight sense for man, sight patho-physiology, reaction to lossing sight, sight therapy possibilities and social support for people with sight problems. Research part evaluates informants' statements in a horizontal and vertical way. These statements were gained in three rounds interviews after three months parts. Research part follows the process of taking care of informants with gradual lossing sight.
Radical injury of cornea and lens
Mahelková, Gabriela ; Novotná, Jana (advisor) ; Filouš, Aleš (referee) ; Čejková, Jitka (referee)
We studied whether hypoxia of corneal tissue increases the collagenolytic activity due to release of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species. We found no differences in the corneal tissue in the gel electrophoretic profile of collagenous proteins and gelatinolytic activity between normoxic and hypoxic rats. We did not find any sign of radical tissue injury. There were no changes in the vascularization of corneas after exposition to hypoxia. The environmental 10 % hypoxia does not induce radical tissue injury and an increase of collagenolytic activity in the rat cornea. We studied the effect of several culture substrates and culture conditions on lens epithelial cells (LEC) proliferation and -smooth muscle actin (-SMA) expression. There was no difference in growth characteristics of primary cultures on different collagen substrates and plastic dishes. The cells growth worse on the glass. In secondary cultures, LECs adhered better to collagen-coated surfaces. The culture substrate influenced LEC proliferation and -SMA expression. The proliferation was greater when the medium was changed than when extra medium was added on the 4th day. The cells did not synthesize -, - or -crystallin. It is necessary to consider the effects of the medium exchange protocol, serum supplementation, cell density and other cell...
Abuse of majority or minority votes in a capital company
Novotná, Jana ; Patěk, Daniel (referee) ; Černá, Stanislava (advisor)
Title: The Abuse of the Majority and the Minority of Voting Rights in the Corporation. Prague 2008. Diploma thesis. Charles University in Prague. Faculty of Law. Department of Commercial Law. Supervisor Prof. JUDr. Stanislava Černa, CSc. The duty of loyalty principle applied to all members of a business company is the subject of my thesis. Legal rules regulating this principle are included especially in the Act No. 513/1991 Coll., The Commercial Code as amended as a part of laws regulating business companies. However it is also based on general principles of Act No. 40/1964 Coll., The Civil Code as amended. This principle is applicable to all business companies. However in case of personal corporations, i.e. unlimited liability companies and limited partnership companies, the principle is not violated to a significant extent thanks to close relations between the company itself and the company members. The most significant violation of this principle is apparent in corporations, especially in joint stock companies, because the nature of such companies allows existence of minor shares. The rules included in Sec. 56a of the Commercial Code apply to all companies. According to this regulation, it is forbidden to abuse majority and minority of votes in the company. Clause 2 prohibits any activities aimed to...
Variability in extracellular phosphatase activity of dominant phytoplankton species in the Bohemian Forest lakes
Novotná, Jana ; Rulík, Martin (referee) ; Nedbalová, Linda (advisor)
Phosphorus (P) is considered as the most frequently limiting factor for phytoplankton growth in freshwater environments. One of the ways, how to solve the lack of P in algae and cyanobacteria, is the production of extracellular phosphatases. Extracellular phosphatase activity (PA) of phytoplankton at the single cell level was investigated in three acidified mountain lakes - Čertovo, Prášilské and Plešné in the Bohemian Forest (Czech Republic) from May to September 2007. PA of phytoplankton was detected directly at the site of enzyme activity using the fluorescence labelled enzyme activity technique (FLEA) and epifluorescence microscopy. The FLEA technique is based on colourless substrate ELF phosphate (ELFP) that is converted by enzymatic hydrolysis to the insoluble fluorescent product ELF alcohol (ELFA), which marks the site of PA. This thesis is divided into two parts. The first part (in Czech) is aimed at a general comparison of PA of phytoplankton in the three Bohemian Forest lakes. PA was characteristic for dinoflagellates Gymnodinium uberrimum, Gymnodinium sp. and Peridinium umbonatum that were ELFA labelled in all lakes almost during the whole season. Other species (e.g. Carteria sp., Chlorogonium fusiforme or Synura sp.) were active either in only one of lakes or in some samples. PA was...
