Matějková, Eliška ; Manková, Denisa (advisor) ; Kuchař, Jakub (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with nightmares and their connection to creativity and quality of sleep. Current findings about nightmares, quality of sleep in university students, creativity, and the connection between nightmares and sleep quality and between nightmares and creativity are summarized here. This pilot study yielded data on the prevalence of nightmares and quality of sleep in a population of university students. The prevalence of frequent nightmares (at least one nightmare a week) was 27,9 %, and the prevalence of poor sleep quality was 88,4 %. Furthermore, the relationships between nightmares and sleep quality and nightmares and creativity were examined. Nightmare frequency was positively correlated with sleep quality. No correlation was found between nightmare frequency and domain-specific creativity and nightmare distress and domain-specific creativity. Considering the high prevalence of frequent nightmares and poor sleep quality and the positive correlation found between nightmare frequency and sleep quality, I believe it would be appropriate to pursue this topic further. Although no correlation was found in this study between nightmare frequency and creativity, foreign research indicates some evidence for this relationship. Further research could work with a sample of participants...

Matějková, Erika ; Fraňková, Slávka (advisor) ; Kebza, Vladimír (referee) ; Pařízková, Jana (referee)
This work is directed at determining the stereotypes with which men, women of normal weight and obese women perceive other women on the basis of their figure. Specifically we looked at first impressions. Materials and Methods We surveyed 166 respondents from the Czech Republic. The first part of the survey included 10 questions about how men and women judge other women based on their body size and what attributes they give them. This was followed by 21 statements (descriptors) to be matched with photos of women of different body size who were felt to possess that characteristic. The last part of the survey contained projective questions about perceived and ideal figure. In addition there were enclosed photographs of five women of different body sizes. The women had their faces blurred to obtain a true projective testimony. Results Attributes ascribed to women Statistically significant differences in how women are perceived by men, women of normal weight and obese women include the following. Men assume that when a woman lets her body weight go to either extreme, she is the least intelligent. Men perceive thin women as being pliable while fuller figured women are viewed as being more self-confident and assertive. In contrast women of normal body weight perceive thinner women as cold. Obese women view thin...

The diploma thesis is focused on the economic support to Czechoslovakia, especially offered by the U.S.A. in the period between 1945 - 1948 and its reaction in the historical daily press. One of the goals is to specify what led the United States to organize this aid, based on the evaluation of the Truman's foreign policy, as the beginning of the Cold War. There are described position and development of the Czechoslovak economy and its problematic foreign policy orientation between the West and the Soviet Union, in which the provision and acceptance of foreign aid has become a key element. The author tries to define the most outstanding journalistic personalities, journals and historical newspaper which created the media image of what was happening on the Czechoslovak political scene to the general public. Czechoslovakia and the Marshall plan
Matějková, Eva ; Stellner, František (advisor) ; Krček, Matěj (referee)
The goal of my thesis is to characterize the role of the Marshall Plan of economic and political development of Czechoslovakia in the years 1945 to 1947. I'd like to focus on the status of the Czechoslovak economy after World War II, the principle of the Marshall Plan and related political negotiations based on the unreleased studio (archive Czech National Bank, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Archives) and issued by the sources and similar literature. Furthermore, I would like to analyze the response of individual political parties to become familiar with the discussions in newspapers and other media where appropriate. Consequently, I'm going to analyze Soviet policy in relation to Marshall plan. Attention will be also paid to the causes and consequences of the rejection of the Marshall Plan by Czechoslovakia and the subsequent effect on the orientations of Czechoslovakia and Eastern Europe in the coming years.
