Šípová, Jana ; Tuček, Milan (advisor) ; Kandert, Josef (referee)
Diploma thesis "Upbringing in Childcare Institutions - Life Chances" deals with the sociological perspective of education and upbringing in childcare institutions. In the theoretical part, there is discussed the problem of socialization of individuals from specialized institutions, as well as their stigmatization or institutional environment from the perspective of the theory of total institutions. This work focuses on how education in specialised institutions allows development of their children's personalities, what help is offered to the children before leaving the facility (for their subsequent socialization in a new environment). The work is complemented by a historical overview of the legal definition of institutional childcare. The research part is intended to monitor the abovementioned sociological aspects of single orphanage facilities. The research is based on the responses of facilities staff, children who are about to leave the institutional and the children who have left this environment.
The process of religious conversion and its effect in everyday life
Vynohradnyková Gaydečková, Vanda ; Tuček, Milan (advisor) ; Kandert, Josef (referee)
The thesis compiles and comments upon the results of a qualitative research focused on the process of religious conversion. The research is based on a series of semi-structured interviews conducted with young converts who decided to join the Roman Catholic church; the subjects are members of the congregation of one (anonymous) church in Prague. Main focus topics included their approach to religion/faith and its evolution in connection with the changes the respondents experience in their everyday lives, their authentic feelings and experiences. The results of the survey are not aimed to be easily generalised and applied to the general population - instead, the work aims to reveal deeper connections and relations which could be employed in future research.

Promethean technology: Discourse analysis and narrative construction of meaning
Kotlík, Pavel ; Kandert, Josef (advisor) ; Balon, Jan (referee)
Prostřednictvím diskurzivní analýzy a analýzy narativní konstrukce, přistupuji k analýze mýtu v oblasti biotechnologií, jaderných technologií a technologie vzdělávání. Skupinovým vyjádřením těchto ideologií vznikají i tzv. prométheovská společenství. Diskurzivně tvárný, prométheovský mýtus bez místních a časových omezení ožívá i v 21.století. Metafora je součástí...
