Vermicomposter as Teaching Aid in Environmental Education

In my bachelor thesis, I deal with a phenomenon which, in recent years, has become known among the general public - vermicomposting. This thesis is oriented to didactic application. It is aimed at verifying the possibility of creating and operating a vermicomposts at school environment and examining the possibilities of its usage in teaching to fulfil the objectives of Environmental Education. The main goal was to find out whether the vermicompost can serve as a full-fledged teaching aid both frontal education and project method of teaching. I have prepared several illustrative projects for this method. The location and operation of vermicomposts at school environment raises a number of other aspects that I have also mentioned. The course of the project implementation and usage of vermicomposts in the classroom is devoted to the practical part of my work. In the theoretical part, I try to approach the areas of dealing with the topic of biodegradable waste, the phenomenon of composting (with the emphasis on vermicomposting), Environmental Education and the status of learning aids and teaching methods. The realization of the project Vermicomposting at school was allowed at the place of my work - Santoška Primary School Prague 5. Lessons of Handicrafts, Biology and Chemistry were suitable for it....
Evalution of environmental attitudes through the test of implicit associations

Bachelor thesis on the Evaluation of environmental attitudes through the test of implicit associations provides an overview of the concept of environmental education, basic characteristics, methods and principles of education with overlap and interconnection in the field of conservation psychology. The theoretical part explains the basic concepts and more specifically involved in ecological education, training and awareness, in particular the target groups modern pedagogical methods and pedagogical competences. The second, practical part is focused on one of the methods of finding environmental attitudes, its application in practice and the evaluation of the questionnaire survey. The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to provide a comprehensive view of the topic of environmental education and to test for the Czech environment the newly created application, which serves as an instrument for finding environmental attitudes.
Breeding of a leopard gecko in a kindergarden and it's utilization for awakening and intensifying children's interest in nature

This thesis is focused on the theme of the reciprocal action of animals and pre-school children. It introduces us to the breeding of leopard geckos in kindergartens (with its benefits and disadvantages). Based on case studies, it describes a leopard gecko's influence on preschool children's personalities in kindergarten. The main method of research involves observing individual children as well as a group of children in a one- room kindergarten, Lísteček. Kindergarten Lísteček enrolls children from 3 to 7 years of age, so the composition of children is heterogenic. The maximum capacity of the kindergarten is 28 children and it is part of a primary school. Individual situations and interactions between the children and the geckos wer recorded by videorecording, photogallery and questionare examinations between parents and children conducted by the kindergarten. The children exhibted a natural interest in the exotic animals and the school breeding was evaluated positively. The children's interest in new information was not limited to the school breeding program, they showed interest in the natural world as well. Phobia of animals in pre-school children

The topic of this bachelor's thesis is animal phobias in pre-school children. In the theoretical part, general information about the topic is provided, including theoretical findings about phobias, the way animals influence children and children's estrangement from nature. The theoretical part also focuses on types of education available to prevent this problem. The practical part describes activities focusing on prevention of animal phobias (and fear) as well as on their identification and therapy. In the research part, general attitude of children to pre-selected animals is identified and certain tendencies in their popularity is revealed. An analysis is then performed to determine how this relationship is influenced by the children's age and gender and by the kindergarten in which they are educated (standard or ecologically oriented kindergarten). Students' Relationship to the Nature

This thesis titled "Students' Relationship to the Nature" deals with the topic of students' relationship to the nature. This relationship is found out on the basis of a questionnaire, which was created by the German doctor and teacher Otto Schmeil in the year 1899. The first part of this thesis contains the definition and explanation of basic concepts related to the subject, such as nature, relationship to the nature, ecology and environmentalism, etc. The second part is dedicated to the research. The original questionnaire comes from the book of Dr. O. Schmeil, that is titled "Über die Reformbestrebungen auf dem Gebiete des naturgeschichtlichen Unterrichts". In 1899 this questionnaire was submitted to 150 respondents in the age of 12-14. The questions in this questionnaire are focused on the experiences of pupils with nature, such as for example: "Have you ever seen how to make cheese?", "Have you ever seen a snail in move?", etc. The same questionnaire was submitted to 405 pupils in nowaday Czech schools that were in the same age composition as the originally questionned were. Using school garden to teach biology in ZŠ Hostýnská school

The thesis aims on complex description of environmental features of ZŠ Hostýnská school ground and evaluating its using for teaching biology. In theoretic part the importance of school grounds for educating is introduced, history of school gardens and current state of their using is described. Next part is focused on current using of school ground and description of its environment. Floristic investigation made by author in 2014-2015 is included. In frequent visits author found and determinated 117 species of vascular plants, which is a sign of relatively high biodiversity. Finally using of school ground is compared with school book and key competences. Plans and suggestions for future improvements are given. Five work sheets with methodic suggestions are included.
Creation and realization of a project kindergarten's garden in a natural style

The thesis describes the steps of the project "The Klostermann Pre-school Garden" in Děčín VI, the goal of which was to change a garden with unsatisfactory play elements to a garden in a natural style. The thesis constitutes of three partts: theoretical, executive and practical. The theoretical part explains the goals, methods and means of environmental education and it describes environmental education in the context of The Early Years Framework Educational Programme and the exploitability of the natural style garden. The executive part introduces the project and the changing of the pre-school garden. The practical part describes the educational projects that are applicable for keeping cattle and domestic animals and the usability of the play elements for early years children education.
Use of animal assisted therapy and hippotherapy for children with physical and sensory disabilities and its application

The aim of this thesis is to determine the influence of assisted therapy of dogs and horses for people with musculoskeletal disabilities and sensory impairments. The operational objective is to define the status and position of a therapy with the assistance of a dog and a horse in the context of the complex rehabilitation of a client. The theoretical part concentrates on the issues of zootherapy and zooasistance as supportive methods for easing muscle spasms, the development of fine and gross motor skills, development of verbal and nonverbal communication and development of orientation in space. In the research part of the thesis there are used qualitative techniques of data collection (history and observation), all rounded off by grounded theory. By the carried out research there were found positive manifestations in both the social and psychological areas, as well as in the areas of communication and development of fine and gross motor skills of children with disabilities.
