Women and labour market in relation to parenthood
KŘIKAVOVÁ, Soňa
The thesis contains a description of the current situation in combining work and family. Principally, the work focuses on women with small children who are recipients of parental allowance or maternity pay and on the system of family support, in particular, the new three-speed systém of parentel allowance. It also addresses issues faced by mothers upon their re-entry on the labour market. The work´s aim was to establish the extent to which patente take advantage of the option to select the period for which they would benefit from parental allowance and the factors influencing their choice. In order to obtain the data required, women on maternity or parental leave and allowance specialists of the state social support department at the Labour Office in Beroun have been interviewed. Quantitative as well as qualitative research methods have been used. Mothers provided information in questionnaires filled in independently by respondents, semi-controlled interviews with individual specialists have been used to obtain information from the allowance specialists at the Labour Office. The finding that resulted from the work is that, out of the three possible alternatives, the three-year alternativ eis the most frequent choice and the two-year alternative is selected by the lowest number of women. The employability of women and the number of children they take care of are the most important criteria affecting thein choice. Low interest in the two-year-olds. Therefore, predominantly women planning another child in the upcoming period who will have to resolve the situation during their next parental leave opt for the two-year alternative. The influence of the mother´s education on the choice of an alternative has not been confirmed. In order to allow mothers with small children to make full use of the new three-speed system and to accomplish the desired effect, i.e. increase in female employment rates, I would recommend, first of all, regulating the ``nurseries`` in a new way, introducing part-time jobs and shared job positions. Without these measures, the new system cannot work efficiently.

Employment support services for women after maternity leave.
CHMELAŘOVÁ, Michaela
Women re-entering the labour market after parental leave represent one of the most vulnerable groups in the labour market. During parental leave, women frequently lose contact with their original employment. Depending on the length of parental leave, they fail, or have limited opportunities to develop their labour skills and knowledge. It happens very often, that they lose their jobs and face a very difficult life situation as they must find a new job after the termination of parental leave. This issue has been dealt with since 2004 at the regional level following the introduction of Act No. 435/2004 Coll., on employment, within the Active Employment Policy. Motivating or requalification programs focusing on this group represent an appropriate solution to this social problem. The situation of women returning to the labour market after parental leave is also the subject of the presented master thesis. The theoretical part contains historical review and describes the actual situation using an analysis of two regions and local services supporting the re-integration of women after their parental leave. The objective of the practical part is to identify key motivations for women taking part in the supporting programs during or after parental leave.
Family and Employment of the Modern Women
FAJTOVÁ, Michaela
The aim of the Thesis is to describe a woman in the family and employment sphere. For outlining this problem, I analysed the findings of sociology related to the divorce rate, number of children born to partners who are not married or purely to the childlessness. Among the main poinst of my thesis belong the statistical data on the women´s employment and the different kinds of discrimination women could be exposed to when entering the employment and while being employed. The Thesis also contains the research which deals with the women´s views on their position in the family and the workplace. I was interested for example to what extent women devote their time to do the housework and whether their partners help them. Furthermore, I tried to find out to what extent women are content with their job and whether they have already encountered the discimination.

Within the framework of the project a statistical analysis has been performed of the percentage of men and women collecting the contribution for parents. Furthermore an analysis has been conducted of legislative measures related to the eligibility of men to take parental leave. The focus of the project lies in a quantitative and qualitative survey the goal of which has been to: capture the attitudes of the population to the roles of the father and mother, map reasons and motives that influence menŽs decision to take parental leave, capture the everyday activities of caring fathers, map the attitudes of the immediate social group of these men, study the positive aspects of men taking the parental leave with respect to equal opportunities of both gender and define the main positive and negative factors that shape menŽs decision to take or not to take parental leave. The project has resulted in a proposal of recommendations that may help increase the incidence of men taking parental leave.
