Internet of things and navigation applications
Kouba, Václav ; Luc, Ladislav (advisor) ; Veber, Jaromír (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the internet of things and GPS navigation applications. The first part of the thesis consists of theoretical basics to familiarize the reader with the internet of things, its development, areas of use and security. Currently, built in navigation devices and navigation applications in smartphones are used separately, the internet of things is going to change that. In the second part todays GPS navigation applications are analyzed and compared based on the selected criteria and it is verified if the navigation applications for smartphones can replace the built in solution of BMW X5. The applications are compared based on their functions. The aim of this thesis is to analyze each of the selected applications and compare them based on the selected criteria and choose the best replacement for the built in solution until there are combined solutions available with synchronization between the built in navigation system and a navigation application.
3D Navigation for Mobile Robots
Škoda, Jan ; Barták, Roman (advisor) ; Obdržálek, David (referee)
We propose a novel 3D navigation system for autonomous vehicle path-planning. The system processes a point-cloud data from an rgb-d camera and creates a 3D occupancy grid with adaptable cell size. Occupied grid cells contain normal distribution characterizing the data measured in the area of the cell. The normal distributions are then used for cell classification, traversability and collision checking. The space of traversable cells is then used for path-planning. The ability to work in three-dimensional space allows the usage of autonomous robots in highly structured environments with multiple levels, uneven surface or various elevated and underground crossings. That is important for the usage of robots in real- world scenarios, in urban areas or for disaster rescue missions. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
IVA Movement Quality Improvement for the Virtual Environment of Unreal Tournament 2004
Macháč, Bohuslav ; Gemrot, Jakub (advisor) ; Mráz, František (referee)
Title: IVA Movement Quality Improvement for the Virtual Environment of Unreal Tournament 2004 Author: Bohuslav Macháč Department / Institute: Department of Software and Computer Science Education Supervisor of the master thesis: Mgr. Jakub Gemrot, Department of Software and Computer Science Education Abstract: PogamutUT2004 is an extension of the Pogamut platform designed for developing intelligent virtual agents (IVAs) in Unreal Tournament 2004. Navigation of IVAs in Pogamut is handled by a navigation system, which uses a navigation graph as an environment abstraction. Navigation mesh is a new, more advanced abstraction, but the existing navigation system is not capable of using its advantages. We created a new navigation system, which exploits advantages of the navigation mesh and solves several other issues of the old one. We show that the new navigation system improves the quality of navigation. To demonstrate the quality improvement, an evaluation framework was created for the comparison of navigation systems. Systems were compared in terms of total number of significant paths on the map, which the system is able to follow, length of the path and time of the navigation. We selected 18 different maps for thorough evaluation and we performed the basic evaluation on 58 other maps. The new system is more...
Path planning in realistic 3D environments
Ondrejáš, Michal ; Barták, Roman (advisor) ; Surynek, Pavel (referee)
The thesis concerns with the implementation of a 3D environment editor with path-planning functionality and Parrot AR.Drone quadrocopter control, named Drone3D. It explores the principles of creating real-time applications and drawing 3D graphics in DirectX, followed by the implementation of 3D graphics and user interface of the editor. Then multiple path-planning so- lutions are examined - algorithms and environment representation options. It is determined that the best approach is to represent the environment as a grid of cubes and use the Lazy Theta* path-planning algorithm. This system is then implemented as a part of the editor. Finally, experiments with the Parrot AR.Drone follow and a basic method of navigating the aircraft using a given or algorithmically found path is created. The method is implemented as apart of the editor and multiple tests are performed to verify and review the solution. 1

Hrivík, Miroslav ; Skopal, Tomáš (advisor) ; Hoksza, David (referee)
In Prague the fastest way to travel usually is by using public transport. But in such big system of buses, trams, trains, underground trains and even boats one can have difficulties to find the right way to their destination. In order to help people in their daily journeys across the city using public transport there is this application for android smartphones called Prague Transport. It has rich features like navigation, maps of city, carrier news, times of next departures and list of frequently used connections integrated in one application. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Use of dynamic environments in the study of spatial memory
Staňková, Anna ; Svoboda, Jan (advisor) ; Vodička, Martin (referee)
Spatial memory allows movable organisms to orientate and stay therefore alive in an environment. At the beginning of previous century general rules of spatial memory were studied in static experimental conditions. Today's goal is to extend knowledge about its function also in dynamic environment. As a part of declarative memory, spatial memory depends on proper functionality of hippocampus. Hippocampus is considered to be centre of spatial memory not only because of spatial impairment when damaged, but also thanks to presence of place-specific neurons in several areas of hippocampus. In research of spatial memory experimental mazes are used with possibility to manipulate with orientation cues, maze itself and surrounding conditions. It is possible to make one-shot changes or continual changes. It could be rotation of cues and landmarks, transition of maze across the room, rotation of maze etc. Tasks in dynamic environment are more demanding on cognition and so spatial orientation, which makes them more sensitive to damages of spatial memory. This could be the way of using them as a diagnostic method in medicine.
Navigation Mesh for the Virtual Environment of Unreal Tournament 2004
Tomek, Jakub ; Gemrot, Jakub (advisor) ; Krajíček, Václav (referee)
Navigation mesh is a form of representation of a virtual environment, which allows effective navigation of intelligent virtual agents. This thesis deals with the development of a navigation mesh for the intelligent virtual agents in the environment of the computer game Unreal Tournament 2004. Before the development of the navigation mesh, the navigation graph was the only available representation of the environment that the agents could use for navigation. The navigation graph however provides only limited information about the environment. With the use of the navigation mesh the agents are able to navigate in the environment faster and over shorter paths. Creation of the navigation mesh from the environment's geometry extracted from Unreal Tournament 2004 map files is a part of the thesis. Finally, a new navigation module for Pogamut 3 - a platform that allows creation and controlling of intelligent virtual agents, is implemented. The new navigation module consists of the navigation mesh and a set of navigation algorithms Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
