Human body in Czech and Swedish phraseology

and key words The aim of this final thesis is to compare the Czech and Swedish idiomatic expressions, which include words related to the human body. Using the list of idiomatic expressions generated from the available phraseological dictionaries and other literature and subsequently tracing Czech equivalents, it is mainly focused on the degree of equivalence of somatic idioms in these two languages. The theoretical part is devoted to phraseology as a linguistic discipline, differences in the conception and definition of the idiom in Czech and Swedish and it also defines the types of equivalence used in the practical part. The practical part is in addition to the above mentioned equivalence focused on the frequency of use of the individual parts of a human body contained in the collected sample of idioms, their classification and equivalence. It also deals with several groups of idioms and demonstrates the differences in their perceptions. Marginally it devotes to the etymology of some selected terms. On the semantics of cardinal numerals

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to examine the semantics of cardinal numerals, specifically numeral one (Chapter 2.3), numeral three (Chapter 2.4) and numeral five (Chapter 2.5). The data proceeding method used is as follows. Firstly, paragraphs dealing with various given numerals have been examined in explanatory dictionaries with special attention being paid to different semantic types. Secondly, the occurence of numerals one, three and five in Czech National Corpus have been examined especially with regards to different collocations, in which these numerals usually occur. A detailed description of the method used can be found in Chapter 2. The results of both approaches have been compared and conclusions drawn concerning the semantic validity of the given numerals. In addition, using this comparison, the relevancy and actuality of the information provided in explanatory dictionaries for current language usage have been examined. Conclusions are included in Chapter 3.
Language characteristics of the Gibraltarian speech yanito/llanito

The aim of this thesis is to introduce the linguistic situation in Gibraltar. Main attention will be paid to the special local speech, which is traditionally called llanito. To describe this phenomenon in all contexts, it must be set in the historical-cultural and linguistic context. The thesis is structured in order to clarify this context. The introductory chapter outlines the history of Gibraltar, including a comprehensive overview of the most influential ethnic groups who greatly contributed to the origin and development of the specific Gibraltarian speech with their distinct languages and cultures. Topic of the third chapter are the problems associated with the very concept of llanito. Attention is paid to the questions of terminology - alternative names for llanito are gradually analyzed, namely yanito or gibberish etc., and also hypotheses associated with these names. The fourth chapter describes the language layers in which we find the most specific features of llanito (syntax, phonetics, vocabulary and phraseology), and the nature of these features. The next chapter focuses on two Yanito dictionaries, both dictionaries containing Gibraltar terms and fixed expressions. These dictionaries are the only existing data base for llanito. The biblical phraseology in the minds of Russian and Czech nation

By means of empirical probe it strives to examine the extent to which these units are in use nowadays, whether they are actual and comprehensible, in what sort of situations they are being used and if native speakers are familiar with their origin. Czech and Spanish Phraseology, key word: animals

This bachelor thesis is a comparative study of Spanish and Czech phraseology. It´s focused on the phraseological units containing the name of an animal. The aim of this thesis is to propose possibilities of translation of the Spanish phraseological units to the Czech language and indicate the degree of equivalency. The tesis is divided into two parts, the theoretical part and an analytical part. In the theoretical part there is defined the phraseologhy and the phraseological unit in general. Afterwards there is compared the Spanish and the Czech conception the classifications and terminology. In the analytical part there is the sample of the phraseological units classified according to the degree of equivalency. Subsequently, each phraseological unit is analysed individually from a formal point of view. Thereafter there is stated the definition, Czech equivalent and context for each unit and in some cases the motivation as well. Besides, there is an attention paid to the stereotypes related to the animals which are manifested in the phraseology. In conclusion, there is a billingual Spanish - Czech glossary containing all analyzed Spanish phraseological units and their Czech equivalents.
The use of phraseology in common communication

In my bachelor thesis I focus on the use of phraseology in everyday communication. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part is theoretical and the second part is practical. The main task of the theoretical part is the explanation of basic terms, such as the phraseology and idiom. For better illustration, the theoretical part is supplemented by several examples. This part is also devoted to the characteristics of the communication of simply style and frequency of use of idioms in it. The second part is practically oriented and examines the use and knowledge of phraseological terms among people. The basis of this part is the questionnaire, which was submitted to the fifty respondents, twenty-five women and twenty-five men. People who were asked, were of various ages and achieved various levels of education. The questionnaires are designed to gauge how often people use idioms in everyday communication and if they understand their mening. In conclusion, I summarize the results of the survey and evaluate the data.
To the Phraseology of Elementary School Pupils

Topic of this diploma thesis is The Issue of Idioms at Upper Primary Schools. Phraseology is the integral part of daily communication that is why I decided to explore how pupils understand it. The theoretical part is based on publications of our leading linguists. The practical part studies not only the knowledge of idioms but also whether pupils understand it and if they are able to use them in sentences. The questionnaire consists of idioms, which have emerged as the examples in theoretical parts but also with the help of dictionaries of Czech phraseology and idioms.
A contrastive study of Czech and Polish phraseology referring to animated nature

The bachelor work, Confrontation of czech and polish phraseology from the liv-ing nature, is focused on those phraseology units in which zooappelatives has function of based words. The aim of this work is an overview of the extent to which the phrase-ological background similar to the two languages and which aspects very significantly. The work is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part describes the history of phraseology in the two areas of language and terminology is-sues. In the practical part zooappelatives are divided into thematic units and subse-quently formally classified phraseological units. Thematic classification and the subse-quent formal analysis phraseological units are a good starting point for semantic com-parison, which will be the subject of further study.
The Language of Šimon Lomnický of Budeč

The subject of my graduation is an analyse of the language of Šimon Lomnický z Budče in his publication Instrukcí aneb Krátké naučení hospodáře mladého... (1586). The thesis reports about the characteristic of phonetic, formative and lexical side of his language. The main attention is devoted to the word-stock and its analyse from different points of view including the phraseology. The purpose of the thesis is an evaluation of the language of Šimon Lomnický as a representative of the period language at the turn of 16th and 17th century.
