German texts by some representatives of national revival in the Czech lands of the 19th century, because of aspects of historical linguistics
Švrčková, Helena ; Vodrážková, Lenka (advisor) ; Tvrdík, Milan (referee)
In the first half of the 19th century, the emancipation efforts of the ethnic groups living under domination of bigger nations grew stronger. Emancipation movements were influenced by the humanistic ideas of Johann Gottfried Herder, proclaiming the language as the most important characteristic feature of a nation and that every nation has the natural right to claim it's identity. Motivated by these concepts, the Czechs identified the enforcement of Czech language with the fight for the nation. This Diploma thesis deals with the textual analysis of the German manuscripts by the Czech revivalists Karel Alois Vinařický, František Palacký and Pavel Josef Šafařík, regarding the state of education in the Czech lands and the comparison between these manuscripts. The textual analysis (Brinker: 2001) reflects the communication field, the purpose of writing the text, circumstances of their creation, the role of the emittent and the recipient and finally the intention of the author, which is related with the indenfitication of the text function. All texts contain elements of the text type "language defense". The consideration of the lexemes with the help of the contemporary dictionaries (Adelung, Grimma, Jungmann), etymological dictionary (Pfeifer) and Duden (2006) focuses on the semantic field of National...

The main topic of the thesis called "Cavaliers on the journey through Europe and time. Traveller reflexions of three Bohemian aristocrats from the beginning of the 17th century to the beginning of the 18th century" is an insight into the life and way of thinking of three early modern Bohemian aristocrats - travellers (Bedrich from Donin, Lev Vilem from Kounice and Krystof Vaclav from Nostice) through their literary work from their journeys. The main sources for this thesis were three contemporary travel books or rather travel diaries available to the wide public of researchers by the editions. The main subject of my research is to display and analyse the intellectual world of aristocrats-travellers on the basis of some specific categories and aspects characteristic to their literary works (social status, religion, age, type of journey and itinerary, representative retinue, the main spheres of their interest and attention, language form and stylistics, composition, etc.). The presented thesis also focuses on demonstrating the many-sided use of travel diaries and points to this specific type of document as a peculiar historical source. NOBLEMAN AT THE TURN OF BAROQUE AND ENLIGHTENMENT
HÁLOVÁ, Michaela
This work endeavours to introduce two treatises which deal with the topic of ideal nobleman at the turn of Baroque and Enlightenment in Czech lands. Both of them were written in French by scholars who had some relation with Czech lands. The first one is a manuscript called ?Le prince selon Dieu et les hommes prouvé par les propres paroles de l? écriture sainte et appuyé du témoignage des docteurs de l?église et des Meilleurs auteurs profanes?? ( The Prince according to God and the people, proved by the words of Holy Scripture and supported by the testimony of church scholars and of the best secular authors) which was written in 1725 by a teacher of French language named Philibert Joseph le Roux and its content shows the baroque point of view of virtues which are indispensable for every Christian prince. The second one is younger, it is a print called ?Connoissances que doit avoir un jeune seigneur ou l?idée d?un homme d?honneur? (The Knowledge which a young man has to have i.e. the ideal of the honest man) which was created at the end of 18th century. The aim of its analysis is to find out if the ideal of nobleman during 18th century has changed or not. The introduction of this thesis defines the topic and analyzes the state of research. In the next parts, the thinking of Baroque and Enlightenment is indicated as well as the change of position of the nobility during these two periods. The main part introduces a scholarly account of virtues and qualities which are, in a view of each author, necessary for every aristocrat.

It appears from demographic research on family and draws attention to the relation between the high measure of natality and mortality. It tries to find out causes of infant mortality ? population undernourishment, absence of medical care, easy spread of contagious diseases, wars and demographic crises, female condition and employment. It also inquires into the parents? attitude towards children and their death, and tries to disclose their intellectual and emotional life, whereto the analysis of memoirs by Alžběta Lidmila from Lisov helps distinctively.
