Jedlička, Jan ; Radová, Jarmila (advisor) ; Leová, Simona (referee)
The objective of this work is to survey the level of financial literacy among students of secondary schools and universities in the Russian Federation, and compare it with the survey from 2008. This diploma thesis is divided into two parts. The first part is theoretical and describes Russia's actions in improving the financial literacy of its citizens. It also very briefly describes the situation in the Czech Republic. The main channels for disseminating financial literacy in the Russian Federation and the activities of the World Bank are introduced (as well). The practical part analyzes the results of a survey from 2013, which are compared with a similar survey from 2008 by the National Agency for Financial Research. A better understanding of the problems is provided by graphs and tables.

Horák, Zdeněk ; Chmelová, Pavla (advisor) ; Štípek, Vladimír (referee)
The main aim of this thesis is the analysis VAT revenues in the Czech Republic , the Slovak Republic and Malta in the period between 1995-2012. For the analysis, I chose the country where the VAT lottery is already put into practice several years (Malta) or starts this year (Slovakia) with the country which has formed a common state with Slovakia (Czech Republic). As a secondary aim of analysis is the VAT lottery and the assessment if this tool can help to higher VAT sellection. Due to the limited availability of data for the period 1993-1994 and due to the fact that VAT has been introduced in Malta since January 1. 1. 1995, for the analysis is selected periods from 1995 to 2012. I chose the topic for the timeliness, because they often talk about the optimal settings of the VAT rate in professional and political circles. They also lead discussions about what's the best way to collect this tax. The so-called VAT lottery thanks discussions become very controversial - increases VAT revenues or increases control only citizens of the state? The theoretical part will include tax theory, the issue of the state budget and gross domestic product. At the beginning of the practical part, there will be described the legislation for VAT and the development of rates in this tax for said countries. Followed by a comparison of the VAT revenues for these countries to the total public revenues and analysis of dependence of growth real GDP to the growth of VAT revenues. The end of the practical part will include an analysis of the VAT lottery, which runs from 2004 in Malta and can therefore analyze the costs and revenues. The practical part will be using data from international databases Eurostat or World bank.

Everything is set in the period before and after the interventions of the CNB in 2013, in order to answer, whether it was possible for export and import companies to secure themselves before the intervention, so they can profit from the change of exchange rate.

Design and implementation of BI solution in insurance industry
Majling, Matej ; Novotný, Ota (advisor) ; Daňhel, Jaroslav (referee)
The topic of this master thesis is the application of BI (Business Intelligence) Solutions in the insurance industry. The main objectives are the creation of model analyses and the design and implementation of partial BI solutions on the QlikView platform for smaller non-life insurance companies. The model also takes into consideration aspects of the new EU insurance regulatory directive, Solvency II, by selecting input parameters needed for the calculation of premium and reserve risk using segmentation rules from the lines of business specified in the directive. The thesis consists of three main parts. The first focuses on the QlikView BI platform, its market place, architecture, SW components and the technologies it takes advantage of. It also examines the differences and specific aspects of developing a BI solution using QlikView, compared to other more traditional platforms - one of these aspects is associative data modeling. The second part of the thesis focuses on the financial risks that insurance companies are exposed to, methods for their quantification and techniques that are used for solvency determination -- based upon Solvency II guidelines -- using SCR (Solvency Capital Requirement) and MCR (Minimum Capital Requirement) indicators. Particular chapters explain the concept behind the Solvency II directives and demonstrate the structure of standard formulae used for SCR calculations, which are used for ascertaining the Premium and/or Reserve risk. The final part of the thesis builds upon the earlier sections and contains practical instructions and recommendations for the development of BI solutions based on the QlikView platform in smaller non-life insurance companies. A designed model of the BI application can primarily be used for basic corporate performance monitoring but can also assist in the partial calculation of some risk categories according to the Solvency II directives. The practical section -- which is the ultimate product and the main benefit of this master thesis -- expands beyond the theory to provide a basic conceptual framework for the development of BI applications in small insurance company environments.

Michalčíková, Alena ; Kadeřábková, Božena (advisor) ; Babin, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with the analysis of influence of choosen macroeconomic and demographic factors on the height of household indebtedness in Czech Republic from 2007 to 2012. The main goal is to study the influence of the unemployment rate on the total household indebtedness. This paper follows the study written by Erin Turinetti and Hong Zhuang (the analysis of indicators that cause growth of household indebtedness in U. S.) with the intention to verify their results on the czech households. In recent paper, this anlysis was extended by the influence of gross domestic product and job vacancies. Theoretical part deals with definition of household, with the theory of consumption and with the causes and development of getting into debt. In practical part of this paper there is examined the influence of individual factors on household indebtedness with the aid of regression analysis. On the basis of models it was proved that unemployment rate has significant influence on the total indebtedness. The increase of this indicator by 1 % will increase indebtedness by 16,5 %. Another important factor reveals to be gross domestic product. Its growth by 1 % leads to 0,000538 % growth in household indebtedness. The variables representing influence of share of inhabitance on basis of achieved education and job vacancies are covered in the extended model. The tendency to higher indebtedness was found out at university graduates. Job vacancies have also positive influence on the height of household indebtedness. It was also proven that the household indebtedness was 9 % higher during the years when economic crisis took place in comparison with another years. The data from Czech Statisitcal Bureau and from ARAD (Czech National Bank) was used for the purpose of this paper.

The diploma thesis is classified in chapters which are then classified in subheadings. The aim of the thesis was the analysis and the course of the financial crisis in the global economy while I focused on the present economic crisis. In the first chapter I analyse the causes, course and possible subsequent solutions while I focus on the currency, banking and the crisis at the asset market that preceded the genesis of the present economic crisis, I demonstrate their synthesis by the Big Depression 1929. The next chapter has practical application on the present crisis, the analysis of the securitisation as the trigger of it, I also evaluate the situation at the stock and real estate market before and after the crisis genesis and analyse the strategic factors that catalysed the formation of the market bubbles. The last chapter evaluates the steps that the US Government underwent to alleviate the crisis effects and post the measures that are of mayor importance to prevent the formation of the future crisis.

The second part is describing data and variables that will be used for analysis, development of these variables over the time and stationary testing. The third part is dedicated to the regression analysis and includes models for GDP growth, unemployment growth and inflation. The last part of this master thesis will sum up the results and findings of previous parts. The main source for the data used in this work is the statistical database of World Bank (2016).

The financial crisis in Russia in 1998 : Why was ruble devaluation?
Baikovskaya, Tatsiana ; Tegze, Miron (advisor) ; Hlaváček, Jiří (referee)
This thesis aims to analyze the financial crisis in Russia in 1998, which combined a currency crisis, a debt crisis and a banking crisis. The main purpose of the work is to analyze the main reasons that lead up to the crisis. I argue that the mainstream theoretical models of currency crisis do not capture every aspect of the whole magnitude of the events in Russian economic system by August 1998. In order to explain the whole complexity of Russian financial turmoil it is absolutely necessary to analyze the origins that stood behind the crisis, which I consider to be found in country's economic structure, institutional environment and political processes.
