Sváčková, Radka ; Šklubalová, Zdeňka (advisor) ; Zatloukal, Zdeněk (referee)
Study of influence of hydroxyethylcellulose on eye drops weight Radka Sváčková Abstract: The purpose of the work was a study of influence of hydroxyethylcellulose ingredient on weight of eye drops various dripping adapters, made of gum and plastic, in two different angles of dripping of concentration line 0,16 - 0,75 % HEC solution with 6 - 98 Pa.s range of viskosity there was found out the weight of the drops and compared to the weight of water drops gained under the same experimental circumstances. In the three - factor screening experiment there was found out that between non-water adapter is no evident diference, both of them during vertical dripping water drops of aproximately same weight (43,5 mg). The weight of drops significantly rised up with HEC ingtedient due to watering of surface of dripping part of both adapters. Watered gum adapter produced significantly larger drops than watered plastic adapter with both kind of dripping angles. The weight of drops significantly went down for both studied adapter with reducing the dripping angle from 90ř to 45ř. There was found out in this detail study quite large rising of the eye - drop weight with present of HEC ingredient of concentration range 0,16 - 0,75 % in comparison to the weight of water drops for both dripping adapter. The largest drops with...

The methodological basis for obtaining data was an analysis of documents, questionnaire investigation and structured interviews. The found data showed that, despite the fact that the basic procedures of the system...

The kinds of identity in the Czech interwar romance
Svobodová, Marta ; Heczková, Libuše (referee) ; Bílek, Petr (advisor)
The graduation thesis focuses on the types of social identity created between the lines of the story about the romantic love. The selected books (the thesis choose the texts, which were published as books, although there is also a huge range of texts published as part-issues) fall into the works of the most popular writers in the interwar era in the new established Czechoslovakia (Javořická, Zahradník-Brodský, Utěšitelová, Kyzlinková etc.). The analysis of the texts shows, that the period, when they were published, influences the social meaning of the concepts used as motives, which sketch in the dramatic or on the other hand the lyric atmosphere. The new established state as the new social-political organization uses the metaphors of the Czech national revival as social stereotypes to remake and reinforce the Czech national identity. Though there are other types of identity as local identity, religious (Christian) or gender identity, they all at least partly embody in the changed national identity.

Gene silencing of ICAM-1 by lysine modified oligonucleotides
Kocourková, Aneta ; Štaud, František (advisor) ; Nachtigal, Petr (referee)
Conjugation of ligands to antisense oligonucleotides is a promising approach for enhancing their effects on gene expression. In this study 2'-O-lysylaminohexyl group was linked to the uridine base, which replaces one, two or three thymine bases thus modifies the oligonucleotides. This exchange of bases was tested for improvement of silencing target protein expression. Effectivity of modifications in silencing target protein expression was examined with the alicaforsen sequence (DNA) and siRNA. Alicaforsen, currently in clinical trial 3, is a phosphorothioate targeting ICAM-1, which was the model used to evaluate the influence of modifications. The same target was chosen for siRNA to compare the efficiency of DNA and siRNA substances. For the first time, down-regulation of ICAM-1 was shown on the blood brain barrier cell line ECV304. Unmodified/modified antisense oligonucleotides and siRNA sequences were transfected into ECV304 cells with the help of a transfection agent lipofectamine 2000. After 24 hours of transfection cells were disrupted by a chemical lysis. Protein concentrations were determined by Bradford protein assay. ICAM-1 inhibition was assessed with western blot. The inhibitory effect of ICAM-1 was normalized to the corresponding actin and untreated cells. ICAM-1 protein levels were...

Municipal transportation system of Nitra
Podoláková, Petra ; Zelený, Lubomír (advisor) ; Škarbala, Daniel (referee)

Age related macular degeneration - modern diagnostic and therapeutic preventive approach
Gogelová, Blanka ; Souček, Petr (advisor)
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a disease associated with aging that gradually destroys sharp, central vision. Central vision is needed for seeing objects clearly and for common daily tasks such as reading and driving. AMD affects the macula, the part of the eye that alows seeing of fine details. AMD occurs in two form: dry and wet. In dry AMD, the light sensitive cells in the macula slowly break down. As fewer cells in the macula are able to function, people will see details less clearly in front of them, such as faces or words in book. Dry AMD often occurs in just one eye at first. Later the other eye can be affected. The most common early sign is blurred vision. The dry form is much more common. More than 85 % of all people have thy dry form. Once dry AMD reaches the advanced stage, no form of treatment can prevent vision loss. The National Eye Institute's Age-Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS) found that taking a specific high-dose formulation of antioxidants and zinc significantly reduces the risk of advanced AMD and it's associated vision loss. Wet AMD occurs when abnormal blood vessels behind the retina start to grow under the macula. Damage to the macula occurs rapidly. With wet AMD, loss of central vision can occur quickly. The classic early symptom is that straight lines appear crooked...
