The present state of listening activities in elementary school music lessons, and didactic suggestions for the integration of these activities in school teaching The thesis looks into the employment of listening activities at contemporary Czech schools. Its primary aim is to boost the motivation of school children to listen to classical music by means of choosing their preferred pieces in music lessons. The thesis consists of two parts, the theoretical part and the practical part. The theoretical part analyses available sources connected with listening activities, such as materials for teachers, and textbooks certified by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports as one of possible tools. It looks into the place of listening activities in the contemporary Czech curriculum, and presents also information about listening from the music therapy point of view. The practical part analyses the present situation in the employment of listening activities at our schools. It detects spontaneous preferences of pupils in listening to classical music, and suggests how to use these spontaneous preferences to enhance the quality of music education at school, and build and encourage positive attitude of school children to classical music. The thesis introduces one of the most important personalities of the Czech musical education of the last century - professor Jaroslav Herden. Its aim is to present the wide range of the pedagogical activities he practiced. The thesis consists of six main chapters that describe Herden's life with the focus on his musical activities, education and professional growth. Furthermore, the chapters analyse Herden's work at the Faculty of Education at Charles University in Prague and his publication and radio broadcasting activities. This work also mentions the Summer School of Music which was founded by Herden. The last part of the thesis focuses on the heritage of this extraordinary personage. Playing as a tool to motivate pupils in musical and educational classwork in elementary school. Games with music theory in classes with extended teaching of music lessons

The thesis deals with the use of musical educational games in teaching music theory. The theoretical part explains some general concepts such as game, activation, or the child's personality. Text is based on the history of education, highlighting the views of famous philosophers, doctors, teachers, psychologists and other thinkers, who focused on child's play and the personality of the child. This part of the thesis also presents ways how to work with music playing in the singing, listening, instrumental and musical movement activities, according to some contemporary music teachers. The research focuses on experimental teaching with application of games with music theory, which were specially developed by the author. The research subject is the student and his involvement in activities that help with music theory teaching. The study identified some sub-goals: Discover the impact of educational games for pupil's activation and their participation in experimental teaching music education. Discover pupil's experiences from the game and checking the effectivity of the learning. Education of Visually Impaired Children with Focus on Music Education

The theme of this bachelor thesis is the education of visually impaired children with focus on music education. The aim of this work is to chart methods currently applied the in education of visually impaired children with a focus on music education. The current methodies will be compared with the procedures that had been used in the education of visually impaired children in the past. The theoretical part is mainly aimed at education of the pupil/student with visual impairment, where it was drawn from the quoted literature and selected scholarly resources. In this section it is possible to find types of schools for the visually impaired, teaching methods, but also brief etiology of visual defects, and finally, possibilities of employment of visually impaired people in the music field. The second (empirical) part of this thesis deals with the processing of research through questionnaires and interviews. Intrinsic Motivation and Flow Experience in Primary Art School Pupils

The thesis deals with experiencing flow and intrinsic motivation of pupils at Primary Art School. The aim of the research was to find out the following: to what extent are pupils of Primary Art School intrinsically motivated towards music, to what extent the pupils experience flow while playing a musical instrument and what psychological aspects are related to this type of experience. The target group of respondents represented pupils from musical branch at the age from 11 to 18 (N = 108). The data were obtained from three questionnaires (Flow, Teacher, and Motivation Questionnaire). The first two questionnaires were created for the purpose of this thesis. Motivation questionnaire was translated from English version of SIMS questionnaire (The Situational Motivation Scale). The research proved that pupils of Primary Art School think that they experience flow quite often. Most of the observed variables are significantly related to flow, on the contrary the relationship was less close. The exception was a relationship between flow and intrinsic motivation where closer connection was established. It was not proved that flow experience of Primary Art School pupils relates to participation in any musical groups, range of homework, length of playing musical instruments or gender of the respondents. Irish Traditional Music at Czech School

The master's thesis deals with Irish traditional music and its possible use in music teaching at lower secondary schools in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part provides information on Irish traditional music and the historical and geographical conditions under which it developed. The practical part deals with the possibilities of its implementation into school education in accordance with the Framework Educational Programme for Basic Education. Accompanying the thesis is an appendix consisting of pictures, texts, worksheets and sheet music. The attached CD contains audio and video recordings as well as multimedia presentations.
