I'm working with photographs of Sigmund Freud's apartment and creating their pseudo reconstruction. I'm trying through technique of linocut uncover light from black and white photos taken by documentarist Edmund Engelman in Vienna in 1938. I'm revealing volumes of individual fragments, which light falls on. Exposed light I keep for myself, for some melancholy reasons, and store it in glass jars. It is negative and final linocut represents positive. Atmosphere of pictures from Edmund Engelman's book has a big influence on me as well as Robert Longo's cycle Freud Drawings. Their atmosphere is catalyst for my own art solution.

City Library, Lausanne

Project for the new houses of city library and mediatheque, solves the concept of redesigning the old industry area Sevelin in the city of Lausanne, Switzerland. Here should the new social and education district takes place, what brings a new metropolitan lifestyle. Two objects of library and mediatheque end up the rows of rational city grid at this platform. They define the new open space in between as a new entrance area on the platform Sevelin. It becomes also the extension of library activities to the urban space. Here also the new metro station takes place. Concept of the library – “house in house, city in the city” creates the group of three volumes situated under one roof. The houses of adults’ library, youth library and administration define two atriums in between. Here the life of the whole building meets together. Volume of mediatheque steps up the row and shows the new direction of our culture and media.

Improving Indoor Air Quality of Libraries and Archives in Order to Significantly Reduce the Degradation of Library and Archival Materials

The aim of the preservation procedure is to improve the indoor air quality in libraries and archives in order to maximally slowed the degradation process of library and archival materials. After identification the degradation risks and determination the indoor air quality will be suggested means for improvement of the indoor air quality, which will limit the degradation of stored library and archive materials.

The Methodology of Evaluation of Air Quality Effect on Library and Archival Collections

The aim of the project was a development of evaluation method for indoor air quality in libraries and archives, targeted at reduction of damages on archival collections caused by adverse effects of environment. The project included indoor/outdoor monitoring of particulate matter and gaseous pollutants at four libraries and archives representing different outdoor environments: Zlatá Koruna (rural area), Třeboň (small town), Teplice (industrial area), and Prague (large city). The adverse effects of deteriorated environment were studied by comparison of identical incunabules from these locations. Parallel to field studies the deterioration of paper caused by deposited dust particles was studied at laboratory conditions. In addition different methods of mechanical cleaning of paper were tested. Based on the results precautions reducing the adverse effects of outdoor air pollution were developed.

Leisure activities focusing on Czechoslovakia church in Vodňany parish between 1920 - 1945

This master thesis is focusing to free-time activities in Vodňany with taking into account religions life in this town between 1920 - 1945. In the first part it describe history of Czechoslovakia Church. The second part of work is based on terminology of free-time. Third chapter is focused to Vodňany town - to its history, culture and religion issues. In fourth chapter are describe free-time activities from their beginnings in 1920. Last chapter is focused to Czechoslovakia Church in Vodňany and its share on free-time activities in the town.

For history of exhibitions. Retro-perspective, archive and migration of forms

In her 'View of Modernism,' the groundbreaking study from 1972, Rosalind Krauss takes on the work of the critic Clement Greenberg. Forty years later, Krauss' Under Blue Cup (2011) challenges Catherine David, the curator of documenta X. This change in Krauss's choice of opponents is not incidental and testifies to the widening of art-historical research. David approached the documenta X exhibition (1997) as a cinematographic sequence of artworks, questioning the 'white cube' of the traditional museum and the politics of identity, which Krauss's book defends. The fact that Krauss decided to test her views against a curator rather than a fellow critic or art historian is even more significant. It shows the transformation of art, a process which Krauss herself helped to bring about in the 1970s. As the artwork gave up on the specificity of its means of expression and started opening up to external conditions, the importance of individual artworks weakened in favour of the exhibition as a whole. This is one of the reasons why the history of contemporary art has increasingly become a history of exhibitions rather than a history of styles and individual artworks.

Repositories in Libraries, Museums and Archives: Yes or No?

Příspěvek shrne problematiku budování institucionálních repozitářů, jejich význam pro paměťové instituce a poukáže na možné problémy, které s budováním souvisí. Repozitáře slouží především jako místa dlouhodobé archivace a zpřístupnění digitálních dokumentů, tedy i digitálního kulturního dědictví, nikoliv pouze krátkodobých či rychle zastarávajících informací. Vzhledem k proměně povahy nově vznikajících dokumentů v současné době je tedy žádoucí, aby se vznikem takovýchto digitálních archivů paměťové instituce začaly zabývat.
