Urban planning as viewed from the perspective of the law

This thesis focuses on the relationship between law and urbanism, in particular the ways in which law influences urbanism and the form of public spaces. Urbanism, in the context of this thesis, is understood to be both a scientific discipline that examines the realities of the contemporary and historical city and the technical discipline of the planning of public spaces. In the first chapter of the thesis, the author attempts to define urban studies and urbanism, and through a historical excursion outline their development and the effect of past trends in current urban development. The first chapter thus introduces the social sciences context and basic concepts and includes the analysis of the legal concept of public space ("veřejné prostranství"), to which the thesis refers in subsequent chapters. Then, the thesis maps the legal anchoring of public space, especially in terms of its planning. First of all, it describes the broader system of Czech construction law, , its common theses with environmental law and legal norms which influence the form of the city, such as municipal building regulations and municipal ordinances. Cílem metodiky je sjednocení postupů při průzkumu novodobých knihovních fondů po desetiletém vývoji aplikace pro průzkum fyzického stavu novodobých knihovních fondů. Metodika umožní knihovnám a institucím uchovávajícím novodobé knihovní fondy získat průzkumem srovnatelné soubory dat, které bude možné využít pro plánování konzervačních zásahů jako je odkyselování, restaurování, ambulantní opravy a případné další operace. Metodiku však bude možné využít i pro rozhodování o ochranném reformátování, digitalizaci, akvizici atd. Výsledky průzkumů bude možné sdílet různými institucemi. Cílem metodiky je vytvořit praktický a standardizovaný návod pro zjištění fyzického stavu knihovních fondů a podrobný způsob jednotlivých kroků průzkumu fyzického stavu knih a písemných dokumentů tak, aby byly výsledky průzkumu fondů srovnatelné a statisticky vyhodnotitelné.

Methodology for the library collection protection in the pandemic period

Metodika prezentuje ochranný režim veřejných knihoven v pandemickém období s cílem ochrany zdraví veřejnosti, zabránění šíření přenosných respiračních chorob s přihlédnutím k ochraně knihovních fondů. Vzhledem ke komplikované logistice knihovních fondů, která je potřebná pro zpřístupnění a ochranu tisíců, někdy až milionů knihovních dokumentů, se tato metodika zaměřuje na omezení rizika přenosu chorob na vysokodotykovém, běžně cirkulujícím materiálu, jako jsou obaly knih, ale také na ochranu pracovníků, kteří s knihovními dokumenty manipulují.

Michaela Hympánová, Ph.D. Title: Evaluation of antimicrobial effectiveness of octenidine derivatives Diploma thesis Study program: Pharmacy Introduction: Octenidine dihydrochloride belongs to the group of so-called "gemini" surfactants, or bis-quaternary equivalents of quaternary ammonium salts (QAS). QAS are generally widely used disinfectants exhibiting relatively low toxicity and high efficacy. Bis- quaternary QAS are characterised by even better surface activity and biodegradability. Octenidine dihydrochloride is considered as a very promising antimicrobial agent for its high antimicrobial activity even against multi-drug resistant bacteria. However, its limited solubility in aqueous solvents complicates its application due to the need of organic solvents in product composition, which afterwards reduce wounds or mucous membranes tolerability. Aim: The aim of this work was to test the antimicrobial efficacy of 11 new derivatives of octenidine dihydrochloride, which were prepared with emphasis to increase efficiency and improve solubility in aqueous solutions. Cleaning library documents with a two-phase spray.

The cleaning of particles from library materials (paper, textile, and collagen materials) using a high-speed CO2 snow jet was investigated. The measurements included\ndetermination of the cleaning efficiency, and evaluation of possible adverse effects. The method was compared with nitrogen jet cleaning. The results showed that the CO2 snow\njet is able to effectively remove particles from the surfaces. Any adverse effects were not observed at paper and textile. However, application on collagen materials caused\ndegradation of the surface.

The aim of this methodology was to create a set of procedures and recommendations for library and archive staff or restorers, using which it is possible to remove dust particles from the surface of paper, textiles and collagen materials using the two-phase spray of CO2 snow particles in the carrier gas. The result is an effective and safe alternative to existing cleaning methods. Furthermore, the research aimed to compare the results of this type of treatment with commonly used mechanical cleaning procedures for library collections and archival documents and to analyse in detail the potential use of the new method.

The aim of this methodology was to develop a set of procedures and recommendations for cleaning materials frequently represented in library collections, using which it will be possible to use pulse infrared TEA CO2 laser to remove dust particles from their surface. The basic requirement is to effectively remove surface contamination without damaging the treated material. For this purpose, a threshold irradiation intensity is established at which the ablation of the surface dirt begins and a threshold irradiation intensity at which the degradation of the library materials. The result is an effective and safe alternative to existing cleaning methods. Furthermore, the aim was to compare the results of this type of treatment of library materials with traditional mechanical cleaning procedures and thus analyse the possible potential of the new method.\n\n
