Luxury economics: Comparative study of conspicuous consumption among students of The University of Economics in Prague and Technical University of Liberec
Reichelt, Patrik ; Rod, Aleš (advisor) ; Mirvald, Michal (referee)
The aim of this thesis is connect to BA František Staněk (who analysed conspicuous consumption on students at The University of Economics in Prague) and verifying hypotheses on students of Technical University of Liberec. Thesis is extended to analysis of the impact of technical education. Main conclusions of this thesis were obtained by statistical and regression analysis of data from a survey. Each brand of consumer electronics are perceived very differently in terms of social status which they express. There is a strong relationship between price of a product and and its signaling value. Students of technical disciplines show a dependency between product functionality and its ability to indicate social status. Others have no correlation.

Closer to the body. The urban female body and its perception in the Sokol and gymnastics movement in Prague and Dresden in the period prior to the First World War
Bláha, Filip ; Štaif, Jiří (advisor) ; Schötz, Susanne (referee) ; Štaif, Jiří (referee)
Closer to the body. The urban female body and its perception in the Sokol and gymnastics movement in Prague and Dresden in the period prior to the First World War. The creation of modern cities and new urban forms brought with it new aspects of the perception of the female body. City boulevards offered women, on the one hand, greater freedom of movement and anonymity, and on the other, modified the discourse on discipline so that the moral integrity of women out on their own in the city was subject to constant scrutiny by passers-by; frequently, mere trivialities could bring a woman's image into question in the eyes of those around her. The image of women thus became strongly sexualised, wavering from that of the prostitute to that of girls on advertising boards. Photography, which developed into a mass medium in the second half of the 19th century, brought with it, too, new aspects in the perception of the female body. Photographic images, including portraits, represent an interesting avenue for discussion of the perception of the female body in historical research. Photographs allow the researcher to determine the qualities ascribed to the female body in the contemporary social discourse and how these were conveyed to viewers. This applies all the more to the gymnastics movement, in which the...

QoS in a computer network of VŠE
Kalina, Tomáš ; Pavlíček, Luboš (advisor) ; Beneš, Jiří (referee)
The diploma thesis is focused on analysis and deployment of Quality of Services (QoS) in a computer network of The University of Economics in Prague (VŠE). The thesis describes the main QoS technologies focusing on technology Diffserv and its deployment with using available network devices in computer network of VŠE. In thesis the needs of network services and protocols for quality of services with division into different classes of services according to priority are discussed. The thesis explains the benefits and drawbacks of deploying QoS in the environment of VŠE with regard to wired and wireless network. In the practical part recommendations are applied to the production network and subsequently the benefits of modification are evaluated.

Štulhoferová, Radka ; Franková, Emilie (advisor) ; Jankůj, Miroslav (referee)
In these days psychological pressure and stress are relevant and actual because the times are fast-moving, living pace is faster and the life without stress does not exist anymore. Stress is playing more significant part in our life and most people has a lot of stressful experiences. The teoretical part is based on connections between psychological pressure and stress. Consequential part is focused on prevention and stress management. In the following part methodological procedure, data processing methods and evaluation of results are explained. The next part includes the research results and the final part state possible propositions and recommendations to solve the problem. The aim of the thesis is to characterise psychological pressure and its categories by mentioning examples, causes, effects and options management. On the basis of this executed research the aim is also to determine how students of University of Economics in Prague (VŠE) cope with these stressfull situations, how they respond to it and how they manage to have this influential factor under control, and to comment on the results and potencial recommendations to optimalise management of these situations.

Possibilities for developing sustainable transport in Prague
Macháč, Richard ; Černá Silovská, Hana (advisor) ; Kolaříková, Jana (referee)
This diploma thesis is concerned with the issue of sustainable transport. In the theoretical part, the emphasis is placed on setting the concept of sustainable transport into a broader context; it also describes various factors influencing the choice of the means of transport, which is crucial for transport planning. Furthermore, it describes a set of diverse tools used for transport regulation. At the end of the theoretical part, it mentions specific approaches implemented in selected cities all over the world. The practical part is based on a significant personal research, which helps to understand the issues of transport in a selected area of Prague. On the basis of this research, it subsequently suggests possible measures that might lead to a decrease in the intensity of automobile transport in the aforementioned area. Most of those measures can be similarly applied in other city areas as well.

Physical model of the human bloodstream system resistance - experimental evaluation
Chlup, Hynek ; Pražák, Josef ; Konvičková, S.
Experimental line for measuring velocity of the pulse wave in vessels (aorta) using invasive or noninvasive methods is designed in the Laboratory of human biomechanics, CTU of Prague. One of the basic parts of the experimental line is an element simulating periphery resistance of bloodstream. The element gradually divides the fluid stream to separate resistance segments.

Physical model of the bloodstream systemic resistance enabeling partical transport
Chlup, Hynek ; Macková, H. ; Žitný, R. ; Konvičková, S.
One of the basic elements of an experimental line simulating a cardiovascular system is an element simulating blood stream peripheral resistance. This element is being developed in the Laboratory of Human Biomechanics, CTU Prague. The element is a part of the experimental line for in vitro monitoring of pulse wave speed in thin walled elastic pipes and blood vessels. From the pulse wave speed measured invasively or non-invasively, material properties of the vessel walls could be determined. The element consists from numerous flow splits and resistance segments. The total hydraulic resistance could be controlled by number of active resistance segments.
