Assessing the influence of constitutional hypermobility on postural stability

The thesis "Judging the influence of constitutional hypermobility on postural stability" focuses on the problem of constitutional hypermobility (CH) and the influence of joint instability on stability mechanisms. The aim of the research was to find out whether there is a difference in stability mechanisms with tested subjects with CH and without it. Furthermore, the research focuses on the influence of mobility techniques on postural stability by the means of chosen tests carried out on Balance Master® System platform. The tested sample includes 14 women aged from 20 to 28, 7 women with constitutional hypermobility and 7 women as a control group. 6 tests were chosen for the measurement on Balance Master® platform. 2 static tests: modified Clinical Test of Sensory Interaction on Balance (mCTSIB), Unilateral Stance (US), and 4 dynamic tests: Limits of Stability (LOS), Rhytmic weight shift (RWS), Step Up Over (SUO) a Forward Lunge (FL). We compared the medians of output values of individual tests. It was assumed that subjects with KH would have significantly worse test results than the control group. Furthermore, it was supposed that the mobilization processes cause stability disturbance on the basis of cancellation of compensational , thus protective block in comparison with KS. Title Ways to influence amateur s athletes postural stability Objectives The aim of this study is to describe the selected parameters of body composition and postural stability of the amateur s athletes (floorball players) group and to assess the efficiency of short-term intervention exercise based on senzomotor stimulation, acral coactivation therapy and plyometrics. Methods This work is a descriptive work, one part of it is the intervention. Two groups of amateur s athletes (floorball players) were examined during the study - intervention group(n = 16, average height = 178,23 cm (std 7,18), average weight = 80,04 (std 11,53), average age = 25,15 years (std3,31 )) and control group(n = 8, ave- rage height = 181,48 cm (std 5,59), average weight = 82,29 kg (std 11,20), average age = 27,07 let (2,68)). Each participant underwent the entrance measurement both on Footscan to evaluate the level of postural stability by selected parameters and on InBody 3.0 a Tanita to evaluate the level of body composition by selected parame- ters. Function of Vestibular System in Patients after Cochlear Implantation

Theoretical part of the thesis summarizes state of art in the field of interaction of sound stimuli with the vestibular system and balance control. Further it summarizes the effect of cochlear implantation on the peripheral vestibular structures and on the stance stability. Cochlear implantation is effective way of hearing rehabilitation. Nevertheless surgery in the region of the inner ear results in reduction of function of the peripheral vestibular structures on the implanted side. The functional deficit of the peripheral vestibular system induced by the surgery is well tolerated by patients and quickly spontaneously subside. Sound available to the patients after implantation is one of the important modalities needed for balance control. In patients with balance deficit was found higher reliance on hearing when maintaining stable stance. Some sounds can reduce postural sway. Namely listening to the broadband noise (such as white and pink) results in reduction of postural sway. The balance control also relies on the ability to localize sound source. Information about position of sound source can be utilized as point of reference for driving balance reactions. Objectives: The aim of this study is to investigate the level of muscle actiavtion of choosen muscles during lunge on unstable surface or with using water barrel. Investigation of the postural strategy used during lunge orn unstable surface or with the water barrel and creation of methodology for measurment and data analysis. Methods: Into this pilot study, there were picked 5 people (athletes). Data for outcomes where used from 3 athletes. The measurement of level of muscle activation were done by surface electromyography over gluteus medius muscle and musculi multifidii bilaterally.For data procession was used software Origin 2012 Postural stability was measured through force plates by Kistler and gained data were procesed by using software programmes Bioware, MS Excel and Matlab. For data analysis from EMG measurement was used simple comparasion of outcomes. Stabilometry outcomes were analysed by statistical methode t-test. Abstract Severe hearing loss is standardly treated by cochlear implantation. Considering the anatomical proximity and interconnection to the vestibulocochlear nerve, it is possible to influence vestibular functions. The aim of this diploma thesis is to evaluate the effect of unilateral cochlear implantation on postural stability and vestibular function in adult patients with severe hearing loss caused postlingually. Eleven patients aged 28-72 were examined the day before surgery, the day after surgery, and on average 25 days after surgery. The evaluation consisted of short-form Dizziness Handicap Inventory (DHI), Timed Up and Go testing (TUG), static stabilometry and the perception of the subjective visual vertical (SVV) static and dynamic. Significant deterioration of TUG and SVV was recorded particularly immediately after surgery. In dynamic SVV, especially, when the field of view rotated to the left. Changes of trunk mobility in relation to postural stability

Title: Changes of trunk mobility in relation to postural stability Objectives: The main aim of this work was to quantitatively observe segmental trunk mobility in 3D space during flexion of arm and create coupled pattern phenomena of particular spine segments. Additional aim was to verify the effect of modification of the measurements on movement performance and to relate the given movement of the arm and the segmental trunk mobility to changes in the load of the lower extremities. Methods: The measurement itself was performed on 23 asymptomatic males aged 20 - 30. In 3 modifications of the motion measurement - no load, with load and with load and hold with arm forward, probands performed 5 repetitions of right arm flexion in the sagittal plane. The motion was scanned by system Qualisys markers while standing on 2 Kistler stabilometric platforms. Results: In most probands, the segmental movement of the spine was repeatable. It was possible to compare it between probands and create coupled pattern phenomena of the spine. The increased arm load and hold with arm forward caused an increase in the deflections of the particular spine segments in sagittal plane. The assessment of the compensation of stabilometric parameters in patients after vestibular schwannoma surgery

In this thesis, we have been dealing with the evaluation of progressing of the postural stability in the patients after the operation of the vestibular schwannoma (VS). The stability was evaluated by means of stabilometric parameters (COP trajectory length, COP confidence ellipse area). We measured the development of the parameters before operation, immediately after resection and before the discharge. The set contained 17 patients (n = 17). The level of static importance we determined p ≤ 0,05. We found a statistically significant difference between the measurement before the operation and the measurement immediately after the operation (COP confidence ellipse area: p = 0,0183, COP trajectory length: p = 0,0355). On the other hand, the change in both parameters in the measurement before the discharge and the testing after the resection wasn't statistically significant (COP confidence ellipse area: p = 0,4081, COP trajectory length: p = 0,9991). Our next goal was to find out if the stability fault correlates with the disorder of function VOR. Effectivness of vestibular stimulation in patients with postural stability disorder

The diploma thesis summarizes physiology of vestibular system and disorders of vestibular system. In experimental part we observe the influence of vestibular stimulation on static postural stability. We achieve vestibular stimulation by active and repeated head and body movements. We measure the lenght of COP trajectory using stabilometry. We tested two groups of persons, 20 healthy persons aged 21 - 49 years and 6 patients with postural stability disorder from vestibular origin aged 40 - 76 years. The changes in lenght of trajectory COP after vestibular stimulation were not statistically significant in any group, but for each patient, there was a change in lenght of trajectory of COP. In patients, who have peripheral vestibular disorder, there was a reduction in lenght of trajectory of COP. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
