Konzervátorské a restaurátorské postupy pro daguerrotypii a příbuzné fotografické techniky (finální verze). Památkový postup - Npam a jeho ověření v praxi.
Borýsková, Štěpánka ; Hnulíková, Blanka ; Huňková, Anna ; Jůn, Libor ; Lesenská, Lenka ; Petrillo, Sandra M. ; Švadlena, Jan ; Vávrová, Petra
The proposed preservation procedure Conservation and Restoration procedures for daguerreotype and related photographic techniques originated as a research activity carried out under the NAKI programme of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic at the FAMU Department of Photography. Its fundamental principles and results have been examined within the framework of the MA studies of the separate field, the Photography Restoration, at the abovementioned Department. The procedure has been designed for professional conservators and restorers who are actively involved in the area of protection and preservation of photographic materials. This particular case concerned primarily the oldest photographic technique with a practical use – the daguerreotype – and some derived photographic techniques, such as ambrotype, ferrotype and others with similar problems regarding adjustment and framing methods, etc. Many of the presented practices and recommendations acquired more general character and should be applied in a broader frame of the photographic material preservation, and consequently contribute to more efficient care of the cultural heritage of the Czech Republic. The preservation procedure as a theoretical foundation is well applicable for custodians and curators of respective art collections and archival funds, and in addition – due to its origins within the university education – its didactic role is also significant. Together with a parallel research of other certified methodologies, it presents the most comprehensive methodological tool for the protection and preservation of the daguerreotype pictures in the contemporary Czech environment, including the application of the latest experience from abroad.

Ověření nových památkových postupů i komplexní studium degradace a poškození daguerrotypií vyžaduje vhodné laboratorní vzorky, jejichž povrchová struktura odpovídá jedinečné struktuře daguerrotypického obrazu.

(Czech) Photography in the design of book covers in the 1960´s
BOLKOVÁ, Petra
Petra Bolková will be examining in her thesis the evolution of photography used on book covers in the 1960s; the period marked with certain political and cultural liberation. This study will attempt describing systematically in what ways certain artists and writers collaborated and what the difficulties of these collaborations were. It will also be examined how the author of a book and the artist delegated to design the book cover; the initial advertisement for a book, were influencing each other. What is more, the extent to which the graphic art reflects the content of the written word will be studied. Book covers became a covert space for experimenting with or even establishing new trends in the 1960s. Books covers became a new, independent fine art discipline which, essentially, was censored or criticized only occasionally. The goal of this thesis will also be gradually finding the numerous common grounds between photography, book typography and the final design, as photography and photomontage were used on book covers more frequently then classic original illustrations. Last but not least, this thesis will be looking at what emphasis was put on the visual side and how it was conditioned culturally or politically ect.
Use of 3D graphics in the creation of product visualization
Dušek, Václav ; Bubeníček, Jan (advisor) ; Vítek, Pavel (referee)
By means of my bachelor thesis "Use of 3D graphics in the creation of product visualization" I want to first familiarize a reader with 3D computer graphics and its application in practice. The thesis is not limited only to 3D graphics; it is also devoted to photography and composition in the visual arts. As there are more ways to create product visualisation, the main contribution is in the practical part of the paper, which deals with these possibilities. For consistency and better understanding, the practical part contains the product chain outlining the plan of a commission to create product visualization. In the last part of the thesis, I simulate a specific order for product visualization of the LG G2 smartphone. The conclusion of the thesis evaluates the individual methods by means of the output visualizations and sums up the issues of product visualization.
ROLE AND SIGNIFICANCE OF PHOTOGRAPHY IN THE MULTIMEDIA WORLD
Zídka, Lukáš ; Horný, Stanislav (advisor) ; Černý, Zbyněk (referee)
The human world is constantly evolving. Today's modern society is, within the technological advances and globalization, more dynamic than ever before. The same applies to the current conception of the world of photography. This area of human activity has undergone many changes during its existence, both of technical and intellectual character. What role does the photography play in today's modern society? Does it differ from the past, and if so, to what extent? What do new technologies bring to photography and to what extent were they influenced by it? And above all, to what extent can we use a photography in combination with other multimedia components to create a complex multimedia experience? The analysis of these questions and their answers form the basis of this bachelor's thesis, regarding interpretation of results and practical experience gathered from group project Multimedia Display and Development of National and Cultural Identity Program (NAKI) created by the Cultural Ministry of the Czech Republic. The aim of this thesis is to provide an effective theoretical basis for understanding the importance of photography in order to reveal assumptions for maximal utilization of its potential in creating a multimedia project.
Product photography as a marketing tool
Hromasová, Vladěna ; Horný, Stanislav (advisor) ; Čermák, Jiří (referee)
The aim of this bachelor's thesis "Product photography as a marketing tool" is to point out the fact that the perfect product photography attract attention and that they are many times the reason for buying the product itself. Oftentimes it is not about theconsumers' ownership needs, but about their various emotional aspects and the fact that people generally like to identify themselves either with their idols, or with the vision of being better. Consumersthus leave themselves easily manipulated by it and variety of marketing agencies take advantages of it. However, hardly anybody realize that the final photography is the result of several hours of carefully thought work. Although, what is important is that the product photography is from the very beginning created with the aim to attract and sell. Due to this fact I look at the product photography as an marketing hence communication tool whose main task is to evoke emotions. Next aim of this thesis is the public survey which is to reveal how the consumers perceive and see product photography. In the practical part of this thesis I focus on the actual taking of advertising photography from four areas that are most close to me. Then I create a fictitious order to create a cover for D&D magazine and get the feedbacks through the questionnaire and from a professional itself -- the photographer.
