Thermoelectric Power Generation System
Brázdil, Marian ; Nerud, Pavel (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
In the last decade there is a rising interest in thermoelectric applications. Thermoelectric generators enabling the direct conversion of the heat into the electricity become attractive. This fact is caused by the demands of environmental operation and saving primary resources. Scientists intensively investigate and develop new materials and structures suitable for these applications. The efficiency of the thermoelectric conversion progressively increases. Unfortunately we have no available materials with sufficient thermoelectric properties which could provide cost-competitive price. Thermoelectric generators seem to be useable devices. For example, in case of the unused waste heat using of the thermoelectric generator can increase the overall effectiveness of the unit despite the low efficiency of the generator. This master thesis deals with the issue of the Peltier modules representing the main part of the thermoelectric generators. The physical principles and structures of the thermoelectric modules and the possibility of thermoelectric power production are described here. In the practical part of this thesis the design of the low power generator utilizing waste heat from biomass boiler Verner A 251.1 is proposed.

Meaurement process automatization of Zener reference
Bábek, Tomáš ; Nováková Zachovalová, Věra (referee) ; Havlíková, Marie (advisor)
This thesis deals with metrology specialized to DC voltage. In the begining of thesis is explanation of technical terms from metrology, summarization of units from International System and explanation of the standards and its kinds in the context of metrology. Primary standards of DC voltage based on Zener diodes and Josephson effect are described as well. In cooperation with Czech metrology institute in Brno this work is focused on automatization of measuring Zener reference standards (ZRS). Goal of this project is to automatize the measuring of Zener reference standards and its relationship with Josephson voltage system using scanner. To do this, there is a need to find out offsets, that can develop on scanner's channels. There is a theoretical analysis of measuring made on the scanner and their uncertainties. Aim of the solution is computation of scanner channels offsets using everyday automatic measuring the system of Zener reference standards (ZRS). For measuring the LabView was used and for computing the data from measured values the Matlab was used. This thesis should short the time needed when measuring DC voltage references, measure values of DC voltage standards and set the scanner channels offsets. In the end there is a summarization of offsets measured on individual scanner channels.

Aplikace temporálních logik ve fyzice
Švarný, Petr ; Majer, Ondrej (advisor) ; Pudlák, Pavel (referee)
This thesis presents an introduction to the three main fields that study time: physics, philosophy, and logics. A brief introduction to general relativity, thermodynamics and quantum physics is made. Also some of the basic ideas from the philosophy of time are explained and dualities connected to time are described, e.g. eternalism vs. presentism, determinism vs. indeterminism and the reality or unreality of time. As there is a huge number of temporal logics, only the main ideas that differentiate these logics from others are pointed out and some typical proofs are then shown. Special attention is then given to the relation between logics and physics, how the first can be used in the latter. Thereafter, Branching space-times and Branching continuation models are presented, which proved to be useful within quantum physics. Next, some basic terminology connected to general relativity and the A, P and T topologies are introduced . These are used together with the given models to investigate a possible combination.

Řehoř, Petr ; Richter, Miloslav (referee) ; Macho, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor thesis introduces microcontroller MC9S08LH64 and its modules such as analog to digital converter, internal clock source, liquid crystal display driver, serial communication interface and time of day module. It also containes some basic information about peripheries, which are on the development board TWR-S08LH64 together with the microcontroller. The peripheries are LCD display GD-5306P and accelerometer MMA7361L. Thesis continues with elaboration of five laboratory exercises in which microcontroller, LCD display, accelerometer and A/D converter are used. The description of time of day module and serial communication interface using is contained. Each of laboratory exercise contains problem description, functions of indicators and buttons, program description, flow diagram and programming technique. All the techniques are proved and lead programmer step-by-step through programming of the exercise from creating a new project to functional program. One part of the thesis describes libraries and procedures for driving A/D converter, LCD display, internal clock source, interrupts, serial communication interface and time of day module are included. Most of the procedures initialize the modules at the begining of the program. The result of this thesis is five programmed and debuged programs for microcontroller. The operating of the programs is described in flow diagrams. In addition two programs for computer, which communicate with some programs for microcontroller, was programmed. This computer programs are very easy to use and they are debuged and tested on several computers running WinXP and Win7.

Fictional political mirroring in Two novels by Vladimír Nabokov
Šindelářová, Martina ; Quinn, Justin (advisor) ; Roraback, Erik Sherman (referee)
The focus of this thesis is to closely analyze two novels by Vladimir Nabokov, namely Invitation to a Beheading and Bend Sinister, and on the basis of close reading as well as detailed examination of critical literature enlighten the circumstances of their creation in the course of author's life and the influences and experiences that might have imprinted in the novels. Although validity of biographical approach may be subjected to question, it proves to be a rather insightful approach concerning the central topic of the thesis and it also provides wider perspective for more accurate understanding of the novels, as it directs the reader from politics towards more philosophical and aesthetical concerns. The thesis should also summarise the main points of Nabokov's artistic theory and clarify what was the main concern of Nabokov's literary works. Invitation to a Beheading, one of the last works Nabokov wrote in his mother tongue, a "dystopian fable" which appeared for the first time in a Russian émigré magazine Sovremenniya Zapiski in 1938, follows the last days of Cincinnatus C., a prisoner sentenced to death for his deviation from the common transparency of his fellow citizens in a world which is a grotesque parody of an absurd political regime, but at the same time this exaggerating portrayal depicts the...

Taxation of mineral resources extraction
Císařová, Iva ; Láchová, Lenka (advisor) ; Matějka, Václav (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to analyze reasons for specific taxation of the mineral resources extraction, to present what kind of taxes can be applied for such purposes and to compare them by calculating the tax liability of hypothetical company located in representative provinces of Canada. This calculation proved that when mix of taxes is applied, where part of the income is taxed by corporate income tax and on the other part of income extraction tax is levied by using royalties, the same government revenue can be reached as when linear tax rate is applied as an extraction tax. However, royalties also bring other advantages, e.g. the simplicity of administering extraction taxes or low demands in calculating the tax liability for extractive companies.
