The competitiveness of the EU: Lisbon Strategy and the comparative profile of the member states

The main objective of this thesis is to analyze the competitiveness of the EU countries. First chapter is about the competitiveness, first theoretically, then in numbers based on the the competitiveness index of WEF and IMD and Doing Business of the Worl Bank. The second chapter describes the Lisbon Stategy and analyses the Lisbon score. The last chapter compares the European and the US economy. The conclusion contains recommendations to the next development of the competitiveness of the European union.

McDonaghland as a global village

The objective of this e-ssay is to explore various possible perspectives -of looking at Martin McDonagh's work. The author of so far six extremely successful plays premiered between the years 1996-2003 has engaged much critical attention as belonging both to the British and Irish theatrical context. However, another important circumstance of his work is that of the globalized, supranational context. I would like to prove that it is in this context where the parodic strategy of his plays is most powerful. The theoretical background of this thesis is represented by Marshall McLuhan's book War and Peace in the Global Village, Zygmun-d- Bauman's book Globalizatio~d Linda Hutcheon's/oetics of Postmodernism.

Jehovah's Witnesses

The subject of my doktoral thesis is a study of a group of people, which has created an interesting phenomenon in modern and contemporary world, as well as in Czechoslovak and subsequently Czech history. The Religious Organisation of Jehova's Witnesses (later on ROJW) was founded in the USA at the end of 19th century and started its activities in the Czechoslovak Republic in 1907. Today is this religious group represented in 234 countries and is developing in a dynamic way thanks to its elaborated organisational structure. The aim of my work is not an apology nor accusation of the community of Jehova's Witnesses. From the perspective of a person with no affiliation to any religious doctrine, I am trying to obtain as objective view as possible of the origins, development, activities and specific characteristics of this organisation with special focus on the Czech Republic. Main body of my work is divided into two parts. The first part explains the origins and subsequent development of the ROJW. This part is divided into two chapters (chapter I concentrates on Jehova Witnesses' activities on international level and chapter II on its activities in the course of the Czech history) and is based on different information sources and literature. The thesis is focused on performance evaluation of the construction company. The theoretical part describes data that enter to the calculation, various indicators and methods of financial analysis. The practical part represents the case study in which is the performance evaluation of the company KALÁB - stavební firma, spol. s r.o. done by using financial analysis methods. Financial analysis is based on the balance sheet, profit and loss, and cash flow in years 2011-2015. The aim of this diploma thesis is to evaluate the development of the company in these five years.

Racist legislation of Nazi Germany

The thesis is divided into nine separate chapters. In the first chapter, I focused on the aftermath of the First World War. Shortly after the cessation of fighting, representatives of the powers involved met in France to establish responsibility for the outbreak of the global conflict. The Treaty of Versailles imposed high financial reparations on Germany and also stipulated a reduction of the German army and, last but not least, the removal of a part of the German territory. The second and third chapters are devoted to postwar developments in Germany. After the war, Germany became a republic, namely a democratic republic. The Weimar Republic even had one of the most democratic constitutions in Europe. From its establishment, the republic was facing hardly surmountable difficulties in the field of internal politics, economy and later finance. It is therefore no wonder that the citizens, disappointed in democracy, heeded the positively sounding mottos of the National Socialists on the eradication of unemployment and the improvement of living standards for all. Strategic analysis of an enterprise

This bachelor thesis is dedicated to an analysis of strategic position of Plzensky Prazdroj, a.s. Theoretic body describes the thought sources of strategy view as a process of searching for a match between opportunities, which stem from the micro environment structure, and internal capabilities, which allow the enterprise to use these opportunities; further, it describes techniques used and characteristics evaluated during the analysis. Practical body applies these techniques upon Plzensky Prazdroj and eventually offers a conclusion on its strategic position and possible future directions of development. Thesis is concluded with several general recommendations on strategy formulation based on the preceding analysis.

Investing in mutual funds in connection with business cycle

The bachelor thesis deals in its first part with history and development of collective investment. It describes the theoretical basis of this issue, especially basic model and typology of subjects on the collective investment market. In the next part the thesis also focuses on the development of collective investment and related regulation and legislation in the Czech Republic. Final part of the thesis analyses the hypothesis whether the investment strategy of a choice of a mutual fund may be related to stage of the business cycle, which is represented by performance of gross domestic product and inflation in the Czech Republic.

Finanční a technická analýza zemědělských komodit

Cílem zpracované diplomové práce je poskytnout čtenáři informace o světovém trhu zemědělských komodit, přiblížit dění na trzích pěti vybraných zemědělských komodit v posledních letech a analyzovat možnosti použití různých strategií na datech za několik desetiletí do současnosti. Teoretickým základem pro objasnění významu trhu zemědělských komodit je analýza zpráv mezinárodních institucí. Pro praktickou část jsem nejprve zvolil Nejprve strategii Larryho Williamse. Zabýval jsem se v ní použitím indikátorů Larryho Williamse, který je považován za jednoho z nejlepších komoditních obchodníků na světě, jehož myšlení je zaměřováno především na fundamentální analýzu. Následně jsem se pokusil aplikovat systém Woodies, jehož autorem je Ken Wood, jako analýzu technického rázu, která je obyčejně používána pro intradenní obchodování. Jako poslední jsem zvolil konzervativnější strategii spreadů, která je i doporučována pro trh zemědělských komodit - sice nedává možnost značných výdělků, ale zároveň je zde omezeno riziko ztráty. Práce má přidanou hodnotu nejen ve volbě netradičních typů strategií, ale i jejich variací.
