The Fairy-Tale Novels of Michael Ende and their Reception in Czech and German Environments

V této práci se zabývám knihami pro děti, které napsal německý autor Michael Ende, a to především dvěma jeho základními počiny - knihami "Děvčátko Momo a ukradený čas" a "Nekonečný příběh". Pozornost věnuji hlavně dvěma oblastem - interpretaci a recepci jeho děl v německém a českém prostředí. Část interpretační vychází především z teoretických podkladů získaných studiem sekundární literatury, která je dostupná až na výjimky jen v německém jazyce. V Endeho dílech se setkáváme s mnoha intertextuálními odkazy. K jeho nejdůležitějším pramenům patřily antická mytologie, romantismus a filozofické systémy Dálného východu. Dále se Ende inspiroval výtvarným uměním a jinými literárními díly - jednak z oblasti literatury pro děti a mládež, jednak z oblasti literatury pro dospělé (zde dominuje žánr fantasy). V první části jsou tedy charakterizovány Endeho knihy jako celek na základě nejdůležitějších aspektů a principů, se kterými Ende pracoval. Podle toho jsou členěny i jednotlivé kapitoly. Druhá polovina práce se týká recepce a stojí z velké části na rozboru konkrétních článků a recenzí, které k tomuto tématu vycházely v německých a českých periodikách. Molecular mechanisms of Diamond-Blackfan anemia

Diamond-Blackfan anemia (DBA) is a rare congenital syndrome that presents with ane- mia and selective deficiency of erythroid precursors, while other blood lineages are usu- ally unaffected. Approximately half of the patients display additional somatic anoma- lies and growth retardation. The therapy is mostly symptomatic and is dominated by corticosteroids, other modalities include regular blood transfusions or hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. At the beginning of this work, only two DBA causal genes were known, RPS19 and RPS24, being mutated in approximately 1/4 of all DBA patients. The goals of this work were to study the consequences of the known DBA causal mutations on cellular level and to find novel DBA causal genes. To date, over a half of DBA patients have been reported to carry a mutation in one of nine known DBA causal genes, including RPS17, RPL11 and RPL5, that are reported in this dissertation. All confirmed DBA causal genes encode for ribosomal proteins (RPs) that were essential for ribosome assembly. We further hypothesized a non- ribosomal protein participating in this process might be involved in DBA pathogenesis, too. Obesity its causes and cosequences

Obesity is one of the most common health problems in the Word. Over 500 million adults and over 40 million children are obese. The aim of this work is to summarize findings of causes and consequences of this health problem. Even though in some cases only genetic mutations are responsible for obesity for example mutation in ob gene or Prader-Willi syndrome most cases are caused by lifestyle of people -excessive food intake and insufficient physical activity. There are many health problems accompanying obesity. The most serious problems are metabolic syndrome, diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular diseases and cancer. The consequences of obesity are, however, not confined only to health. We can also observe the economic consequences. Financial cost of treatment of obesity and related diseases are estimated in billions of dollars. Pharmacological treatment has so far proved to be ineffective. If drugs are effective, the side effects are so severe that their use is not possible. So far, the adipose tissue hormones that regulate food intake provide the best hope.

Effects of Vojta's reflex locomotion on lung function

Introduction: The aim of this thesis is to answer a question if it is possible to influence ventilation parameters with an application of Vojta's reflex locomotion, which is one of the neurophysiologic techniques. The thesis confronts actual knowledge and relation between respiratory and postural function of "respiratory" muscles and the diaphragm and possibility of its reflex affection. Methods: With a spirometry we assess the impact of short-time activation of Reflex locomotion on the lung functions in a group of 21 healthy subjects in age 18 - 33 years. The study evaluates the effect of activation in two situations. First, it is instantaneous effect of Vojta's method on lung function. Second situation is the assessment of the time duration of evoked effect of activation and make out, if the changes are seen also after 25 minutes over the end of Vojta's stimulation. Results: Based on the interpretation of the both monitored situations, we set up an observation that short time activation of Vojta's reflex therapy has an effect on respiratory mechanics and thus on the spirometric values. At the other side we realize that not all of the changes were significant and some of them were unadvisable. Imagination of infinity

This work deals with a basic question of modern science and it is its indefectibility. Quality of education is reduce to an evaluation of conformity to a common known knowledge and its quantity representation. Seeds of this long process go back to an ancient academia of Gondisapur established in an Arabic world. Author proclaims that the main goal of philosophy is to show, that this is not the only way of thinking and in the same time that the main goal and power of phenomenology is to apply the transcendental epoche to overcame the truth in its regularization shape. The hardcore of modern science is located in the world of mathematics and a lot of thinkers find the Math as a land of pure sureness - the core of this work in an opposite proofs, that in fact nowadays math is all, but the correct way of thinking. The two examples are explicit: the Pythagorean Theorem and the Sum of the geometric row. This work brings a quite new view on the mathematical problem of "the point" and "the nothing" as a border of things. In the second part uses as a frame of its topic the first 18 §§ of the work "Paradoxes of the infinite" by Czech mathematician of German mother tongue Bernard Bolzano. The important idea of this study is a new ontological view on the set of prime numbers.

Physiology of Carotenoids Metabolism and Ornamental Signalisation in Animals

This theses deal with the use and utilization of carotenoids in secondary ornamentation, particularly in birds. Carotenoids have an important role in animal organisms, and the honesty of carotenoid-based signalization has traditionally been ascribed to anti-oxidant functioning of carotenoids. However, this view has been changed recently showing the potentially harmful effect of carotenoids. The deposition of carotenoids in ornamentation is driven not only by carotenoid intake, but also by physiological processes within the organism. Importantly, when the conditions are suboptimal (and the oxidative stress increases) unstable long aliphatic chains of carotenoids derive into highly reactive non-colorful apo- carotenals. Hence carotenoids may act as classical handicaps, potentially harmful to organism, and this view changes our understanding of honesty of carotenoid-based signalization. The theses focus on summarizing the current knowledge on physiological functions of carotenoids and how they affect secondary coloration, and consist of three chapters. In the first one the basic description of carotenoids is provided, along with an overview of carotenoid classification. Vision and reality in solving longterm unemployment (Focus on municipal territory of Prague 9, 14 and 20)

Vize je definována jako vidění vztahující se k budoucímu, resp. vzdálenému, vnímání nedostupnému. Je výsledkem schopnosti předvídat nebo živě si něco představovat, vybavovat. Realita oproti tomu představuje věcnost, skutečné bytí něčeho (věci, podstaty aneb jen vlastnosti), tedy skutečnost proti toliko pomyšlenému (idealitě). V oblasti dlouhodobé nezaměstnanosti České republiky je jednou z vizí naplňování cílů Evropské strategie zaměstnanosti, a v této souvislosti pak snaha o její minimalizaci. Úplné odstranění dlouhodobé nezaměstnanosti je představou nereálnou. Realitou zůstává, že počet dlouhodobě nezaměstnaných v ČR je ve srovnání s ostatními členskými státy Evropské unie stále vysoký. V podmínkách českého trhu práce, v souvislosti s dlouhodobou nezaměstnaností je také realitou, že stále existují lidé, kteří chtějí být dlouhodobě nezaměstnanými. Výrazné propojení trhu práce se sociálním systémem je nutné z toho důvodu, že dnes fungují v nerovnováze. Stále se velkému množství lidí vyplatí využívat sociálních dávek, aniž by byli nuceni aktivnějším přístupem svoji situaci řešit. Systém musí být více motivující, pracovní trh je stále málo pružný. Three chapters on the issue of the Czech as a foreign language (didactic point of view)

Zdrojem inspirace mi byli moji zahraniční studenti češtiny žijící bud' krátkodobě, nebo dlouhodobě v České republice. Ve všech uváděných příkladech se jednalo o cizince, kterým je více než 25 let. Česky se začali učit z vlastní iniciativy, nikoli z profesní potřeby. V první kapitole uvádíme ukázky prací cizinců, kteří češtinu užívají zejména mimo svoje zaměstnání, a to pouze v mluvené podobě. Tito cizinci jsou Neslované, neovládají jiný slovanský jazyk a nestudují obor čeština pro cizince. Pro vypracování úkolú spojených s náročnými texty ve třetí kapitole jsme však museli oslovit pokročilé studenti češtiny pro cizince (dále jen ČC). Tři z nich vystudovali český jakyk na vysokých školách v Regensburgu a ve Vídni. Tato práce vychází z mých zkušeností s výukou zahraničních studentú. Opírá se o poznatky z výuky češtiny pro anglicky a německy mluvící cizince, dále pak pro Holanďany, Argentince a Nory. Cílem této práce bylo stručně zpracovat tři rúzná témata týkající se ČC: zaměřit se na vybranou problematiku z didaktiky češtiny pro cizince (didaktické zásady ve výuce cizinců, výklad české gramatiky a sociokulturní složky, rozdíly mezi psanou a mluvenou češtinou podle rozboru ukázek prací zahraničních studentú). Wide Area Application Services

This thesis is trying to appraise benefits of implementation Cisco Wide Area Application Services (WAAS) in the organization. It's a relatively new technology, which seeks to answer the question, how to maintain control over the ever-increasing volume of traffic. This constant increase is mainly due to the use of new applications and business processes. WAAS should transparently improve throughput, speed and ease of use of all applications in the organization. The question is if this technology can reduce costs, improve productivity, simplify data protection, or what manner it is compatible with the corporate infrastructure. If is really consolidating and pooling application infrastructure for remote branch back into the data center best current solution, which facilitates access to remote users, in same way to which they are accustomed from the Local Area Network (LAN). The next one sections of this work will be summarized findings on the principle of Cisco WAAS. How the technology works. What is main optimizing method and how is currently use in the organization. It's weaknesses and strengths against the largest suppliers of similar WAN optimization solutions. The next one section will carry out an analysis, which showed us results to determine which applications are suitable for optimization technology and statements for the policy, which will be applied to the applications. This raises so many questions to be answered. The outcome of this work will be whether this technology is really what the organization needs, and whether this technology is applicable to all or only for certain types of applications or application protocols.

The main charakters of Czech fantastic literature in 1920's

Předmětem zkoumání v naší práci bude česká fantastická próza 20. let. Přestože autoři těchto děl nevytvořili žádnou literární skupinu, ani jinak necítili potřebu spoluvytvářet společný diskurs fantastické literatury či prózy, myslíme si, že žánrové hledisko a krátký časový interval, ve kterém díla vycházela nás opravňuje z nich vytvořit v podstatě uzavřený celek a ten podrobit společnému zkoumání. Některá z děl byla samostatně zkoumána v monografických dílech věnovaných jednotlivým autorům (např. Fantastika a satira v díle Karla Čapka od V. S. Nikolského či Satirik převratu Jiří Haussmann od P. Pešty) nebo naopak v dílech zabývajících se fantastickou či utopickou literaturou obecně (např. Něco je jinak od O. Neffa). Společnému zkoumání byla tato díla podrobena ve stati D. Hodrové Utopie, do níž je zahrnuta fantastická literatura 20. a 30. let 20. století, a to jak próza, tak drama (stať je součástí publikace Poetika české meziválečné prózy). My jsme předmět zkoumání zúžili, což nám umožňuje rozvinout poznatky z uvedené studie, a zárov~h tu vzniká možnost zabývat se ! jednotlivými díly podrobněji - a to i těmi, která byla v rámci různých studií zkoumána jen okrajově.
