Pupil`s preconceptions in geometrical optics
Zedník, Michal ; Mandíková, Dana (advisor) ; Kolářová, Růžena (referee)
I was concerned with the preconceptions of the pupils in the area of geometric optics in my diploma work. I did the research among the pupils of grammar schools and multi-annual secondary schools. The used test contained ten questions. My choice of the questions was based on the researches concerning the misconceptions in optics that have been already done. I also mention the survey of these researches in my diploma work. I compiled the summary of the textbooks that are used at grammar schools and in the lower degrees of secondary schools in the next part. These textbooks are focused on the topics contained in the questions of the test. The survey of the testing results creates main part of my diploma work. I tested before and after the teaching of optics 162 pupils from eight classes of grammar schools and multi-annual secondary schools took part in the investigation. The table with the most frequent misconceptions that were ascertained during the testing is part of this survey. I devoted to the differences in the results between the pupils from grammar schools and multi-annual secondary schools and also the differences in the results of boys and girls.

These Bachelor thesis aim to extend Collection of Solved Problems in Physics by adding tasks to chapter wave optics and widening newly opened chapter named Optics. This collection is created at the Department of Physics Education. Twenty two tasks were prepared within this thesis and they are included in individual subsections of Wave optics chapter. Each task includes a structured solution and most of them newly drawn pictures. There is a brief description of the collection and characterization of all prepared tasks in the text of the thesis. Four tasks including their structured solution are shown in supplement. All tasks can be found on enclosed CD or on the website of Collection of Solved Problems in Physics http://fyzikalniulohy.cz/.
Experimental sets in optics for Interactive Physics Laboratory
Machalická, Jana ; Kácovský, Petr (advisor) ; Gottwald, Stanislav (referee)
Title: Experimental sets in optics for Interactive Physics Laboratory Author: Jana Machalická Department: Department of Physics Education Supervisor: RNDr. Petr Kácovský, Ph.D., Department of Physics Education Abstract: As part of this thesis, a literature review focused on the topic of optics experiments was conducted. Building on the results of this review, four experimental stations were designed and realized based on the needs of the Interactive Physics Laboratory (IPL), operated by the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University. Corresponding worksheets have also been created and provided to the students participating in each given experiment. The individual experiments, which are focused on the fields of geometrical and wave optics, are described in detail and accompanied by instructions on setting up the stations, as well as important notes on teaching methodology. Following the launch of this Optics experimental suite, a qualitative study exploring the effect of visiting the IPL on the understanding of the related physics concepts was performed by means of a short questionnaire on a small number of respondents. Several conclusions drawn from this study remain as interesting areas of future work. Keywords: physics experiments, labs, optics, secondary school
Local IR spectra measurement system
Pospíchal, David ; Trčka, Tomáš (referee) ; Škarvada, Pavel (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the design of a system for measuring infrared spectra from local areas of samples. The theoretical part describes the electromagnetic waves and related phenomena. Furthermore, the semiconductor junction and solar cells are discussed. The following is a basic description of line spectrometers. In the practical part, a suitable arrangement of the whole system, collimator design, and especially the core of the whole work, ie control software and signal processing, are proposed.
Optical design for LED luminaire
Oravčok, Ján ; Adamec, Michal (referee) ; Škoda, Jan (advisor)
The first part of the thesis is research, which deals with electric luminaires and especially their light-active parts. Subsequently is described the problem of a specific luminaire, which is used during the control of the surface structure of materials. The next part of the thesis deals with the simulation of the current luminaire and the simulations of the proposed solutions that eliminate the shortcomings of the luminaire. The conclusion of this thesis is the evaluation of the originally used luminaire and the benefits of the proposed solution, which showed the best results in the simulation.
Optical polygon
Kubica, Matěj ; Münster, Petr (referee) ; Horváth, Tomáš (advisor)
Diploma thesis focuses on a problematics of an optical networks in terms of an optical cables laying and a work with individual fibers. Thesis contains an basic physical properties which are used in a fiber optics. Methodology of correct working procedures used in fiber optics is discussed at the same time. Thesis also contains detailed documentation of realized optical connections including scheme of realized outdoor connection. 3D design of an rack case is also part of the thesis. Rack case provides an option to simulate plenty of different lengths of optical routes. Rack case is designed in 6U variant.
Optical response of magnetic materials
Wagenknecht, David ; Ostatnický, Tomáš (advisor)
David Wagenknecht: Abstract of a diploma thesis Optical response of magnetic materials, 2014 Magnetooptical properties of anisotropic semiconductors are studied to describe asymmetry of Ga1−xMnxAs, because theoretical calculations predict extraordinary behaviour of reflectivity. Analytical formulae to describe materials with non-diagonal permittivity are derived and they are used for the numerical calculations to describe the optical response of the samples available for the measurement. The transversal Kerr effect is calculated and it exhibits asymmetry in both rotation of the plane of polarization and ellipticity of circularly polarized light due to asymmetry in reflectivity. Moreover, longitudinal and polar magnetization are studied because of the influence on the observability of the phenomena. Results are not only used to discuss conditions, which must be satisfied to prove the asymmetry, but also the actual experimental setup is designed to prepare the measurement. 1
Marketing Strategy of the Selected Company
Šťastná, Klára ; Peterka, Jiří (referee) ; Chlebovský, Vít (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the elaboration of proposals for the improvement of the marketing strategy for an optician brand named Valore. Following the theoretical background, this thesis analyzes the current state of the company and its marketing strategy. Based on the findings from the analysis of the internal and external environment of the brand, as well as from a questionnaire survey, specific and feasible suggestions for an improvement of the marketing strategy are created. The proposal part of the work is mainly focused on minimization and elimination of identified weaknesses while making use of strengths and opportunities of the brand. The marketing mix method was chosen to formulate suggestions for the marketing strategy adjustments. Suggestions contain a specific description of the recommended changes that will help to raise the company's awareness and bring in new clients. The proposals are mainly focused on the unification of the current online self-presentation, which is the company's greatest shortcoming. The suggestions include drafts for a redesign of the company's website as well as custom made way of communication on social networks. It also contain adjustments of the discount policy and the use of online customer registration, which is related to customer benefits and newsletters. The proposals were made in detail, including target groups and illustrative examples, so that it could be used by the company. The company is also recommended to employ an external online marketing specialist who will manage marketing communication according to proposals and his or hers own experience. Other suggestions include the modification of the assortment at the Gajdošova shop, so as to improve the identified customer dissatisfaction. A solution is also proposed for a detected problem with an employee in one of the stores, who the company should lay off and replace with a new employee. Among the proposals is also the use of the potential of the company's electric car, for which a design of an advertising sticker is prepared, which will create an affordable mobile outdoor commercial. To save unnecessary costs, it was also proposed to cancel the current advertisement in the BRNO-STŘED magazine, because the return of the costs proved to be almost zero amount.
