Musilová, Michaela ; Hybská, Bohumila (referee) ; Sedláček, Michal (advisor)
Architectual study deals with the design of an apartment building in the new south district in Brno – area the south from the existing main station. Living close to the Svratka river and concurrently near historic centre are the greatest potentials of the territory. Another similar place does not exist anywhere in Brno. The project follows plans of building a new main station of the city. This includes extensive transport infrastructure. The new district is connected to the Brno boulevard and also to „highline“ park on the historic viaduct. The area was not built till today, although it is really attractive and unusual place in the city. The main reason is flood area located here. Nowadays a city administration is preparing a new zoning plan, which suggests many flood control measures. In my thesis I am interested in one block of buildings from the new district, which is situated close to the river. One of these apartment buildings is designed in more detail. This is the coner object located near the square. The house is composed of eight floors – two underground and six upper floors. Garages are located underground. Entrance area for residents, technical background and some home-office units are planed on the first storey. The part of the first floor is rentable – coner space for cafe or bar. Upper floors have only resident function. Varied flats are two-rooms to five-rooms. A part of proposal is also outdoor spaces. They are very significant for really beautiful views to the waterfront, the river and adjancent park. All housing units have loggia, balcony or terrace. Home-office units on the first floor are completed with private gadens in the courtyard. Roof apartments are favored for theirs private roof gardens. But a part of roof green terraces is available for all residents of the house.

Close to the lot is located University hospital Brno – maternity hospital and the building of Public Guard of Rights and historical build-up area from 19. century, which strictly keeps a street line, this street line was disrupted by gap site during the 2. World War, due to the bomb fallout. New building of the cultural center is designed in this gap site between two historical houses and completes original frontageline. The main idea of design was to keep the fromtage line and at the same time interconnect by designed project an opposite square with a park and castle Špilberk. Object comprises three parts. The main object is in the shape of a letter L and its back part is partly built in the slope, in bigger wing of the building is located a foyer, a big concert hall, performers, staff and technical facilities and storage area in the first floor, small conference hall with foyer in the second floor and gallery in the third floor, in smaller wing café and gym are located. Second part includes sheltered penthouse in the shape of letter L which is designed in form of steel structure, which is adjacent to the main object and thus creates square-shaped yard. The cover at the same time creates sheltered passage from Obilný trh onwards to Špilberk. Third object is the smallest one, it has cuboid shape and it is defined as a commercial space especially for free-time activities.

This building facility is used primarily by professional swimmers and sportsmen for it contains the only 50 meters long swimming pool with a tribune in Brno. The aim of the project is to create new areas and pools for visitors with recreational intentions and therefore to widen the possibilities for free time activities. The project also deals with restoration of a 16 meters long training pool in the existing building, creation of inner and outer aquapark areas and adding exercise and dance halls as an extension to the existing fitness center. Another goal of this project was to make the pedestrian access to the area more pleasant which is achieved by creating an underground parking space in the area of the existing building’s frontal space and also by designing a footpath leading from the remote side of the excessively frequented Sportovní street. The primary aim of the project is an operational connection of the existing and the new building by a central building and also preventing an eclipse of the area by integrating the building in the area’s hillside. The advantage of the project is the presence of relaxation facilities and sports areas. The aim of the proposal is to create a significant area both professional and recreational sport. The main part of the work is devoted to the design of o new cycling stadium owned but TJ Favoritisms Brno. The hall should have sufficient capacity and facilities to hold international sporting events in cycling. At the same time it should be useful for smaller races and other events. Another requirement is that the stadium can provide enough facilities for the TJ Favorit Brno cycling club. The home base is currently a cycling stadium at the Brno Exhibition Grounds. This stadium is currently inadequate, serving only as a training course. It does not meet conditions of the international Federation od UCI. The design of the variable space of the hall deserves a further attention at least, because it will serve athletics of other sporting events. The cycling stadium is located in the northern part of the grounds. It place emphasis on the scattered surfaces in the immediate vicinity of the stadium, easy orientation and layout of entries from all sides of the object, separation of athletes from spectators. The main expressive element is two masses, one of which allows the public to climb the ramp along the perimeter of the stadium to lookout points. From the ramp you can see the action inside the stadium. The attractiveness of the entire area is enhanced by the proposed traffic playground and bombrack. The total area will be separated from traffic. 3 new car parks will be built in the area.
