CT laser mammography
BAČOVSKÁ, Michaela
According to the data from the Ministry of Health, malignant breast tumours rank in first place in terms of the most frequent malignant tumour disorders in women in the Czech Republic. Every year over 5500 new cases of breast carcinoma are diagnosed, with approximately 2000 women dying each year as a consequence of this disorder. In September 2002 blanket screening for breast cancer was officially launched in the Czech Republic. Its main task resides in identifying breast carcinoma in its early stages, and also in prolonging the survival of patiens due to more effective treatment of the initial stages of the disorder. After the introduction of screening there was logically also an increase in the recorded incidence, and at the same time there should be a reduction of mortality. The endeavour to scan breasts commenced with the development of X-ray examination methods and with the general development of new technologies in the last century diagnostic methods also came to the forefront. Progress was achieved primarily in the area of X-ray examination methods, whilst at the same time there was a parallel development of entirely new methods. Today computer tomography, magnetic resonance or emission computer tomography are entirely available. In terms of scanning breast glands the greatest progress was recorded by mammography, an in close linkage by ultrasound. In addition to these basic and proven methods, the latest development in mammodiagnostics enables us to use also new examination methods, which are used as supplementary methods. One of these is CT laser mammography (CTLM), which is used in several countries worldwide. In the Czech Republic the radiodiagnostice clinic of the Královské Vinohrady Teaching Hospital in Prague and the Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute in Brno have access to a CTLM machine. As the name indicates, this concerns breast scanning using laser rays. CTLM displays the physiological vessel structure in the breast, as well as any angiogenesis if present.

Developing Reading Skills of Deaf Pupils in Accordance with the Reference Level A2
Staňková, Vladimíra ; Cícha Hronová, Anna (advisor) ; Pacovská, Jasňa (referee)
This thesis comments on the development of reading skills of deaf students at the language level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference. In line with the view that deaf pupils should be educated bilingually, it draws primarily from foreign textbooks aimed at developing reading skills in foreign language teaching. It provides detailed instructions on how to develop the reading skills when working with a text, what exercises should be used and how the teacher should use them with students. The characteristics of each approach draws attention to possible errors which should be avoided in teaching reading skills. Taking into consideration the knowledge necessary for a pupil to be able to fulfill a reading comprehension task at A2 level and the correct teaching methods, this work provides a set of practice-oriented texts and proposed following activities. The texts are divided into three thematic areas and within each of them, the exercises are structured into several parts according to the different stages of work with a text. Exercises are also supplemented with methodological recommendations and instructions for use suggesting various modifications, pointing to the problematic situations and others.

Didaktic Analysis of civis textbooks (Media Education)
Novotná, Jana ; Jirásková, Věra (advisor) ; Dvořáková, Michaela (referee)
The thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical and empirical part. In the theoretical part I deal with textbooks, their didactic analysis and the ways the textbooks can be used both by teachers as well as by students. My main concern was the problem of Media Education. In empirical part I focused on a didactic analysis of textbooks used for teaching of such educational subjects as Education of a Citizenship, Civics, and Social Science in which I was primarily concerned with the selected components of the didactic analysis.

Geopolitical impact of China's search for energy on the Indian Ocean and South China Sea
Rodd, William ; Hrishabh, Sandilya (advisor) ; Riegl, Martin (referee)
This thesis examines the geopolitical consequences of China's search for energy resources on the Indian Ocean and South China Sea. It provides a brief outline of the energy situation of the world as a whole, specifically how it is becoming a more globalized and singular market. This change is occurring at the same time as a pronounced shift away from the traditional measurements of 'power' towards 'softer' more subtle definitions. There is a brief section outlining the geopolitical teachings of Alfred T. Mahan, specifically how he advocated seapower primarily for the purpose of providing the stability and security necessary for trade. Chinese analysts have been embracing the teachings of Mahan, but also interpreting them in a way that justifies the naval buildup Beijing has been embarking on in recent years. The paper briefly looks at the potential sources that China could turn to meet its energy needs, but concludes that it will have to rely on oil for the foreseeable future. It then attempts to define overall Chinese interests, specifically how nearly all of these relate somehow to energy security, thus underlining the importance of this topic to leaders in Beijing. The last half of the work delves into a geopolitical analysis of the Indian Ocean and South China Sea, and how militarization in the...

Editor for project IVE - objects and areas
Vorba, Jiří ; Poch, Tomáš (referee) ; Brom, Cyril (advisor)
The main goal of this work is to implement an editor for IVE which is the simulator of virtual humans developed at MFF UK. Our editor should primarily open up IVE for teaching of algorithms for control of virtual humans. The part of the work is also the search from field of tools for prototyping control algorithms of virtual agents in computer games and teaching applications. There is also introduced the project IVE itself. Also our own demo world was made for testing purposes and there arised two tutorials which are part of the extensive user documentation.

The Active Music Reception
Šulanová, Silvie ; Hurníková, Kateřina (referee) ; Herden, Jaroslav (advisor)
Listening to music in the process of education is beneficial for a pupil only in case it is realized by means of active creativeness. To meet this requirement specific activities concerning music listening are applied in the framework of receptive music teaching. The dissertation proposes a so called dynamic model to function as an ideal solution to didactic transformation of music. The model enables to set up such classroom conditions in which pupils find it easier to observe elementary items and structures of music and thus comprehend music speech as a whole. Naturally then, a presentation of a particular piece of music via this model depends on teacher's abilities and skills. Nonetheless, the achieving of success in receptive music teaching is determined primarily by pupils' profundity and intensity of reception. Teaching pupils to listen to music in an active way represents teaching them to handle music through the use of creative musical activities and simple cognitive processes. In other words, on the basis of their own activities pupils penetrate into basic essentials of music i.e. they analyze music, identify its functional elements, detect structural constituents of music and thus decode its message. Consequently, they are able to employ acquired knowledge and experience in an analogical musical...
