From Lira to the Single Currency: the Euro's transitional costs and its unexpected side effects. The Italian case.

T hroughout this thesis I tried to show the numerous aspects of the introduction of the single currency and its impact on Italian society. We started by considering the pre-changeover phase, pointing out the genuine enthusiasm and trust in future perspectives of the Euro as an innovative tool able to contribute in building a more and more unified Europe, that was pretty widespread among Italians. Unfortunately, after this initial positive attitude, the successive four years have been characterized by an increasing mistrust and discomfort. This happened because of the combination of several relevant factors: psychological, political and partially also economic. We analyzed that the Italian population has faced an unexpected amount of psychological difficulties in dealing with the single currency; to clarify the wide range of different attitudes it has been useful approaching this theme following various levels of analysis, as shown in the first three chapters. The considerations built up on these areas of interest have been developed according to my personal re-elaboration of information and data collected by the official survey department of the European Commission, and the so- called Euro Barometer, that during the last four years has carried out a remarkable monitoring work to studying and understanding...

Foreign art exhibitions in Prague 1945 -1953

The thesis will focus on the foreign exhibitions in Prague at prague associations and art galleries betwen yers 1945 - 1953. The heading of every one of chronologicaly sorted chapters will contain a brief insight into the political and cultural situation of Czechoslovakia, which should help the reader to grasp the whole context. The theoretical articles from relevant period will illustrate the shift from "formalism" to socialistic realism as well as types of exhibitions, their historical context and feedback they got from the czechoslovakian artistic community.

Analysis of chemical composition of prehistoric artifacts of copper and copper alloys in Czech lands

This work deals with chemical composition analysis of prehistoric artifacts of copper and copper alloys in Czech lands. It purvey listing of individual methods of natural sciences research together with their capabilities and limitations. Development and current state of chemical compostition analysis is described in this work. Focus of this work is a database of results of chemical composition analysis from Czech and foreign laboratories. Data file in the database is evaluated in terms of geography, chronology and type of artifacts.

Conditions of the rise of technocratic cabinets in Europe

The thesis analyzes the key conditions under which technocratic cabinets in Europe are formed. There are 45 technocratic cabinets in Europe since 1989. This year is connected with collapse of communist regimes in Central and East Europe and democratization. There are also similar political, economic and social conditions under which all governments are formed in this period. The thesis composed of nineteen chapters. Because of lack of literature we have to define the technocratic government at first. After introduction of this topic, the second chapter defines basic terminology. Another part of the thesis is about technocratic cabinets in individual European countries.

Gazprom and the Russian Foreign Policy towards the Countries of the Former USSR

This thesis deals with the energy policy of the Russian Federation and its role within the Russian foreign policy towards the countries of the former Soviet Union. It focuses in particular on the Russian state gas monopoly Gazprom. The thesis inquires into Gazprom's relation to the Russian foreign policy and examines how and to what extent Russia uses Gazprom as a tool for enforcement of its political interests. It also analyses the implications of the Gazprom's acitivities in the postsoviet countries for the energy security of the European union.

Happy Recipients? (Ukrainian Advocacy NGOs, Western Democracy Assistance and the Orange Revolution).

Two years after Ukraine's Orange revolution, the reforms have fallen short of initial expectations. At the same time, Russia's interest in influencing political developments in the Ukrainian "near abroad" may exploit existing status quo ante sentiments by continuing to denounce the revolution as "Western bought and foreign made". In that specific context, the paper focuses on the relation between Western donors of democracy aid and their Ukrainian recipients - those activists of advocacy NGOs who have played a mojar role as actors during the period of the revolution. How do the activists view Western aid? How do they respond to claims of being "backed by foreign interests"? How do they assess the political sitaution in Ukraine today, and do they perceicve these claims as serious threats to the development of an open civil society in Ukraine? This study finds that despite a widespread discontent with the outcomes of the revolution, the "foreign bought revolution" argument does not play a significant role in the contemporary Ukrainian politcal discourse. It also shows, that Western aid has helped the democratic activists in many ways. The implementation of the reverse-charge mechanism on selected goods

This thesis is focused on the implementation of the reverse charge mechanism on supplies of electricity and gas, which was imposed on these goods on 1st February 2016. The main aim of the thesis is to determine whether carousel frauds in our territory disappeared after the introduction of the reverse charge mechanism and to attempt to estimate the amount of tax evasion before the implementation. The other topics in the thesis include a description of principles of carousel frauds and measures adopted in order to eliminate them as well as an evaluation of the contemporary level of implementation of this mechanism in the Czech Republic and other EU countries. The analysis of foreign trade statistics has indicated a significant decrease in these figures as a consequence of a possible elimination of related carousel frauds. The estimation of the amount of tax evasion in the period of six months before the implementation achieved 1.05 billion CZK.

Social responsibility management system in selected company

The aim of this thesis is to describe and evaluate the current situation of social responsibility in selected company (Prague Airport), and propose possible improvements based on identified responses via questionnaire. And also by analyzing report of corporate social responsibility issued by Prague Airport in comparison with the requirements of the Global Reporting Initiative version of the G4. In the first part are theoretically analyzed the basic features and principles of social responsibility, approaches to evaluation and mentioned trends in reporting. Then are described the specifics and development of air transport and the methodology used in the creation of the questionnaire. The practical part describes the current situation of corporate social responsibility at Prague Airport. Based on the survey and the analysis reports according to GRI Guidelines. In the conclusion, are the answers to the hypothesis written in the introduction and also suggested possible improvements.

Non-destructive properties detection of concrete of prestressed beams

The masers’s thesis is about the methods of non-destructive testing and about determining the properties of prestressed concrete. The first part pursues an introduction on the prestressed concrete, its essence and material properties. The next section describes the non-destructive diagnostic methods used in the practical part – the ultrasound impulse method, the resonance method and the rebound hardness test method. There are described destructive tests on the specimens for the calculation of the calibration. This is followed by a practical part, which describes the item tested - truss, its manufacturing, storage, and perform the test. Then search value are calculated from the test results and results are compared according to various procedures specified in the standards. The last section is devoted to the calculation of camber truss and loss of preload.

First volume of new, third series of the project on Documents on Czechoslovak Foreign Policy contains documents from May to December 1945. The documents concentrate mainly the restoration of postwar-Czechoslovakia, Czechoslovak-Soviet relations (mainly cession of Subcarpathian Ruthenia), Czechoslovak-Polish conflict on Teschen, relief of UNRRA and another question. Documents are published including historical and editorial introduction, list of documents, English summaries of documents and name index.
