Supercivilization. Patočka's Concept of Modernity and it's Relevance In The Context of Contemporary Historical Sociology.
Homolka, Jakub ; Arnason, Johann Pall (advisor) ; Skovajsa, Marek (referee)
This thesis deals with the concept of modernity called "nadcivilizace" ("supercivilization") that was developed in the nineteen-fifties by Czech philosopher Jan Patočka (1907-1977) in his originally unpublished study Nadcivilizace a její vnitřní konflikt. The main goal of the thesis is to introduce this concept in the framework of the author's life and work, as well as in the context of current research in the field of historical sociology. This goal is fulfilled through three main steps, which are preceded by preliminary remarks about the issues of nowadays civilizational analysis. The first part is focused on the introduction of the author's concept of modernity as it was presented in the aforementioned study. Patočka's original term "nadcivilizace" is introduced and put into the context of civilizational analysis. At the same time, the circumstances of the genesis of the text, and the spiritual framework of the epoch in which Czech philosopher lived, are presented. Second part attempts to put the original concept into the author's lecture of philosophy of history, and to demonstrate the changes that occurred in Patočka's understanding of modernity in his work Kacířské eseje o filosofii dějin (Heretical Essays in the Philosophy of History, 1975). Finally, the last part is dedicated to the problem...

Land evaluation of important prehistoric agricultural sites in Bohemia
Poništiak, Štefan ; Šefrna, Luděk (advisor) ; Dreslerová, Dagmar (referee)
The presented bachelor thesis deals with the land evaluation of 80 prehistoric archaeological sites. The aim of the thesis is comparison of evaluated land in the past and the present on the basis of suitable sources. Information about the past evaluation of land was drawn from the Theresian Czech cadastre and imperial imprints of maps of the stable cadastre. The present land evaluation is represented by maps of BPEJ and their evaluation points. The comparison of evaluated land in the cadastre of archaeological site on the maps of imperial imprints with one kilometre perimeter around the site is also included. The survey of literature characterises briefly the prehistoric eras and the diversified approaches to the land evaluation up to the present times. The result of the thesis is that the land evaluation is higher in the present on the basis of used research tools and methods. The land evaluation is lower in the immediate vicinity of the site. The effect of various factors on the results of the thesis is discussed at the end of thesis. Keywords: land evaluation, archaeological sites, BPEJ, perimeter of kilometre

Reflection of the American Movie Production in the Czechoslovak Media during 1970's.
Šlechtová, Věnceslava ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Dominik, Šimon (referee)
This diploma thesis The image of American Movie Production in Czechoslovak Media of 1970's focuses on how the Czechoslovak media in the 1970's created the public perception of movies which had come from the American distribution to Czechoslovakia or were projected in the cinemas among the years 1970-1979. This thesis analyzes the manner in which selected national print media, influenced by the political trends, being partly designed for the general public (daily newspaper Rudé právo, Lidová demokracie) and partly addressed to specific target groups (film periodical Film a doba, Filmový přehled, Kino), reflected the issue and the contribution of individual movies; all of that under specific political and cultural circumstances. The main theme is the usage of the movie production and its presentation as a contemporary propaganda tool. The analytic part is based on examination of several articles and reviews found in some selected media and connected to the movies or its actors and makers. The analysis is focused on important arguments and assessments in the frame of the contemporary political development. The comparison of how the issue was perceived by the daily newspapers and by the film journals hopes to bring a new aspect and a new point of view to the film and history studies. .

Tuchlovice mikroregion in the latène and Roman period
Bursák, Daniel ; Salač, Vladimír (advisor) ; Košnar, Lubomír (referee)
This submitted thesis summarizes archaeological data about Iron Age and roman period settlement activity in the area of Tuchlovický potok downstream. Main focus is given to the elaboration of archaeological excavations, which were carried out in the years 1967 and 1968 by A. Knor and J. Zeman. The excavations followed up a large drain trench between Tuchlovice and Srby (district Kladno, Central Bohemia), where K. Motyková detected in the year 1966 the rests of roman period settlement with organic finds. Thirteen probes unearthed relatively widely spread rests of settlement, which was probably buried by a flood. The analysis of pottery sherds allows dating of the excavated settlement mainly to the 1.st century AD. Sampled wooden finds were submitted to dendrochronological surveys, but the recorded tree ring curve didn't match any so far known. Most important finds are a part of wooden fence and a piece from composite wooden jar. Other wooden artifacts and finds do not allow any functional interpretation. The research carried pointed to a great potential of this site for answering a wide spectrum of questions about prehistorical settlement sites and their relation to environment. The excavations also brought some rarely found organic finds like pollen, rests of plants and some other.

The History of the Parish in Most 1945-1990
Hausner, Martin ; Petráček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Stříbrný, Jan (referee)
The aim of this work was to describe the history of the parish in Most in years 1945 - 1990. This period comprises almost half a century, which was full of dramatic events in the state, political, municipal, parochial and private area. The defeat of the Nazi ideology occured at the beginning of this period and the fall of the atheistic ideology at its end. Also the parish in Most was afflicted by many changes and strokes during this period. Firstly, it was the post- war terror against German inhabitants and their violent removal. Shortly afterwards occurs the communist putsch, which leads to the initially hidden and soon afterwards to the open fight against Churches. The Church becomes a slave to the supervision and the authority of state officials. The parish in Most with its churches is almost symbolically in the spirit of the time swept off from the earth's surface at this time and the asylum was founded in a small parish hall. After nearly twenty years of living in the constant provisional arrangement has the parish its own church again. The totalitarianism is at the end of its power and the democracy is coming. The parish in Most is learning to live and to breath freely after many decades of the lack of the freedom. Keywords History, church, parish, churches, priests

Photocatalytic activity of titanium precursors treated in low temperature plasma
Brožek, Vlastimil ; Matějíček, Jiří ; Šrank, Z. ; Mastný, L. ; Janča, J.
In order to obtain compact photocatalytically active materials, the possibility of preparation of new titania forms by oxidation of titanium compounds, having different crystal structures and oxidation degree, was verified. Four model substances were chosen: titanium carbide, nitride, diboride and Ti2O3. These compounds were prepared in the form of high-specific-surface powder, as well as large-area compact free-standing parts by CVD, PVD and especially plasma spraying. After high temperature treatment in a water stabilized plasma, generated by the WSP torch, a measurable photoactivity was observed; this could be further improved by controlled oxidation below 450°C. Oxidation in an RF-generated oxygen plasma appeared more efficient, especially in shorter reaction times. However, the experiments have shown that even keeping the reactor walls at 450°C did not prevent the uncontrolled temperature rise inside, during the reaction of the oxygen plasma with titanium compounds.

Pchungmullori and Samullori
V kapitole Pchungmullori nastíním původ a vývoj pchungmullori. Vývoj představím zhruba od poloviny doby vlády dynastie I, přes období japonské okupace a nově vznikající Korejské republiky až do současnosti.

Paradoxal interpretation of scientist in chosen pieces by Villiers de l'Isle-Adam
Horňáčková, Katarína ; Voldřichová - Beránková, Eva (advisor) ; Pohorský, Aleš (referee)
work of Villiers de l'Isle-Adam is significant for the ambivalent relationship to his century which has become known as the century of Progress. On one hand, Villiers is fascinated by Science and its possibilities, on the other hand, he warns against the Science which has become new religion of this period. He projects the anamnesis of his century into a bizzare gallery of men of Science. First, we will see the inventors whose creations should facilitate our life but in reality, they repress everything that goes against the doctrine of the "sane intelligence". The next group of scientists are those who adjust people according to the spirit of the epoch which claims continence. These scientists treat people with the "balm of sane inteligence" helping to get rid off such "anachronisms" as calling of glory or honour, patriotism or remorses. But Villiers goes even further in his criticism and he introduces us cold maniacs of knowledge. For them, a human life is less valuable than the slightest scientific discovery. Next scientists who appear in Villiers's work are Tribulat Bonhomet and Edison. On one side, Bonhomet is the extract of all that Villiers imagines under the term of "blind pragmatism". Nevertheless, he is also an uncompleted esquisse of the most noble representative of Science whom Villiers has ever...

The Mediaeval Settlement of Bohušov (northern Moravia) and the Origins of St Martin Church
Prix, Dalibor ; Zezula, M.
The study is based on a research of St Martin Church in terms of archaeology and construction history. It monitors the Slavonic settlement in the municipality and the region before the construction of the early Gothic building and a subsequent construction of a brick church at an older cemetery. The church dating from 1275-1280 was the work of the builders and stonemasons who also built the municipal church in the nearby town of Osoblaha. It was built below the residential castle of Fulštejn for Herbord of Fulštejn, the sewer of Bruno, the Bishop of Olomouc, and it proves the influence of episcopal architecture on the remote Moravian-Silesian borderland.
