The Bachelor thesis consists of two main parts - the Czech translation of two chapters of a French publication entitled La communication animale (Dorozumívání živočichů in Czech) and a commentary of the translation. The original text deals with the communication between animals in the form of popular science. The translation consists of the penultimate chapter of the publication, which is concerned with social life of animals and the last chapter about animal's ability to learn a language. The commentary includes a translation analysis of the original and deals with the individual problems with the translation and their particular solutions.

Commented Translation: Schama, Simon: Burning Convictions

This thesis consists of two parts: the first one contains a translation of a section from the chapter Burning convictions, in the book A History of Britain by the British historian Simon Schama; the key themes of the translated text are the period of the Tudor reign and the Reformation of the Church. The second part is a commentary of the translation, containing detailed translation analysis of the original English text based on extratextual and intratextual factors, description of the chosen translation method, typology of translation problems and their solutions, and is concluded with typology of shifts that occurred in the translation.

The bachelor thesis consists of two main parts: the first one is a translation of two chapters from a French publication called La révolution maternelle: Femmes, maternité, citoyenneté depuis 1945, the second one presents a commentary of the translation. The source text deals with the evolution of obstetrics in France during baby boom and with the establishment of child care institutions in the same period of time. In the commentary, the source text is analysed from the textual and contextual point of view, and specific problems of translation and their solutions are stated.

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to translate selected chapters from the book of Jean Catinus - La Bolive and to make a commentary of the translation. The commentary consists of five parts: translation analysis using the method of Christiane Nord, conception of translation based on the theory of Jiří Levý, analysis of selected translation problems and their solutions, translation procedures by Alena Tionová and lastly, principal translation shifts which occurred during the translation.
