Subject of bachelor project is urban and architectural design of adjustment and annex part of garden called Holland and Orange garden in close neighborhood of formal part of baroque Floral garden in Kromeriz (registered on UNESCO list of world heritage). New building is inspired by green walls in main part of Floral garden. There are visitors' centre, gallery, library and café inside. New building contrasts to entrance building "Cestny dvur" because of its form and used materials at the same time. Thanks to that it doesn't change character of the place dramatically, but tries to complete it suitably instead.

A basic idea of design is dividing to a long longitudinal area of „Orange and Dutch Garden“ with a Centre built for visitors. There will be a quadrangle that right a follow up to the second entrance into the garden. Main door is through the Centre built. The entrance which is on the quadrangle will be like seasonal (in the winter) or for VIP visitors. The Centre built for visitors is divided for two basic parts with a single entrance – the restaurant and the education centre. The entrance to the place for education and information is through the entrance hall. There is also the place for a library and for the reading room in the hall. Furthermore there is a bookshop, the room for a provisional exposition, a lecture theatre and a gallery for a permanent exposition. The hall and the restaurant is lit by south-west frontage from a glass and screened by window blind from cloth. The places of gallery are lit by shaft from glass and screened by screen form the cloth. The whole building is from a fair-face concrete with a irregular texture. A roof of the restaurant and the gallery is level, green and the entrance hall is with a level roof too and with a grit roof surface. The center built of visitors make aerial quadrangle. Its organization is originated from design of the indoor gallery. On the ground plan of quadrangle there are changing areas of green, grit, sand, pebbles and paved ways. A grassy surface are for populace – for a recreation, for a rest or for various social games. Along the origin wall there is the green strip with the concrete basements, which are used for exhibiting statues, works of art and so on. Its symmetrical to the inside gallery. The quadrangle of visiting center is connected with thematic garden – the garden of elements. The system of meandring ways meets to visitors individual elements. The elements are represented by attributes, the way of disposition or by the kind of plants. The elements are made up of the jutted out island. On the water element there is dominant a fountain with the statue of the god Neptune. The last part of the garden’s design is a lower garden with a greenhouse and a bird aviary. There is respected the origin historical axis. On the axis there is the symmetrical greenhouse. In the center of the greenhouse there are information about organization of the plants. From this place you can enter to five other greenhouses. In each of them will be grown different kinds of plants. In the first greenhouse there are a gardening, selling the plants and practical workshop for the visitors. Next to the each greenhouse there are a base and a base of the garden. Longitudinal axis of the garden is stressed by the linear water component which is coved by the meandering sandy ways. In this garden from the greenhouse till the aviary there are stripes of different colored flowers. The function of the aviary is previous, the new one is the water area and the footbridges to the aviary. Concrete replica of the rabbit’s hill is moved from the main longitudinal axis to the axis of the flower garden and to the enter of the aviary. In this small building there are projecting screens for watching documents and short movies about history of the garden, nature or about the elements.

The topic of the bachelor thesis is the design of the revitalization of the foreground of the Květná garden in Kroměříž and of the service building for visitors. When solving the project, the first ideas were initiated by its strong social context. The garden art has always been a reflection of its own period. The founders of gardens – the aristocracy, monarchs or clergy – have used gardens as a means to represent their social status. They have tried to point out the things that have been conceived as artistically and technically (and later socially) progressive and correct. The main ideal concept of my project results from these facts and considerations. I seek to represent today’s era and society – within the meaning of the good, what they could and according to my opinion should bring to each other. And what they perhaps do… That is why I apply knowledge of today’s technique and ecology in my project – in terms of the use of local natural materials and renewable energy resources. At the same time I try to take advantage of and to give support to the frankness of today’s society and to create a project with a social and human overlap. I incorporate a function of a temporary sheltered housing into the area and support integration of people into the society through garden works and therapies. Last but not least – I would like to open the gardens to the broadest scope of the laic public and to create not only an esthetic function, but an educational as well. From the architectural point of view, I tried to bring contemporary components into the garden, which, however, respect the historical evolution and the temporary situation and connect to them. In the Holandská garden I placed the visitors centre into the ground plan – a path of the former “casino”. It closes up this lengthwise space, it creates a notion of continuance of the colonnade of the Květná garden (and transcription of the arcade on its façade), and it balances the dimension of the tropical glasshouse on the other side of the garden. Regarding the solution of the garden space, I respect the cross axes of the Květná garden as well as the main longitudinal axe of the foreground. I create a simple composition of larger sheets with two new “piazzas” – at the place of the renewed Neptune’s fountain and in front of the visitor’s center. By creating the elevated sheets I add the third dimension to the parcel. In the southern part of the foreground I compose functionally different spaces along the longitudinal axe. Hence, visitor’s attention is non-violently drawn to the aviary. Crosswise, the garden is divided into several parts – the representational one (by the cold glasshouse), the agricultural and educational one (but no less attractive) with the garden centre, and the leisure area of the aviary and the so called “rabbit hill”.

The aim of my project is to design a functional and harmonious complex as an addition to the current buildings. Although it is designed with regard to the current buildings, it has also some modern features. Two annex buildings result from the original picture of the two houses already built in the garden and being used as a greenhouse orange-tree garden. I found inspiration mostly in the forms existing in the garden as well as in the details on the buildings. I also considered landscaping, nature and plants growing in the garden since the complex is closely connected with the garden and nature. As the result organic architecture of the dwelling greenhouses with espaliers is built. The symbolical meaning of the auditorium in the Dutch Pavilion is a seed as the beginning of something new which can grow and develop further. This can also be compared to the passing-on of skills and abilities while learning new things. Symbolism of the Orange Pavilion is expressed by the scenario of the exhibition reflecting the garden and its alleys during the lifetime of the Bishop Lichtenstejn helping us understand the concept of the garden itself centuries ago.
