The Reflection of Christian Faith at the Age of the First Republic in the Literacy Work of Jan Čep a Thoughts of Přemysl Pitter

The first chapter of the thesis describes the period of the First Czechoslovak Republic (1918-1938). This chapter describes the establishment of the First Republic, a new constitution, social legislation, relations between Czechoslovakia and Austria, the German minority in Czechoslovakia's borderlands and the events preceding World War II. Also mentioned is the issue of Slavic solidarity. The second chapter outlines the nature of Christianity in this period, meaning the establishment new churches and their basic directions, the confessional distribution of the population and the crisis in the church which began during this era. Part of the chapter is devoted to the first president of Czechoslovakia, T. G. Masaryk, and his thoughts, particularly those relating to religious belief. The last chapter will form an analysis of the writers, Jan Čep and Přemysl Pitter: their lives, work and thoughts from this period. The analysis of documents of both these authors aims to capture their response to the religious situation of those years and how they, in turn, influenced religious and political events during the period of the First Republic. Star - sport magazine of the first czechoslovak republic

This bachelor thesis aims to illuminate evolution of sports illustrated magazine Star, which was published in years 1926-1938 in Czech publishing house Melantrich. Magazine Star was also used to illuminate the situation of Czech sports journalism in 1920' and 1930'. Thesis describes the very beginning of Star and also clarifies its extinction right before signing of the Munich Agreement by Great Britain, France, Germany and Italy. It also focuses on sports journalists, who had the main impact on this magazine, and several important Czech and world famous athletes, whose articles were published in STAR. Paper also presents political a social environment in Czechoslovak republic after WWI and describes the state of Czech sports journalism in main newspapers. All published issues of Star were analysed to get information to write this thesis, as well as many years of Czech newspapers České slovo, Národní listy, Lidové noviny a Rudé právo and several other books. The findings from this research show a complex view of sports illustrated magazine Star and offer insights into history of Czech sports journalism.
Social and political role of the revue parliament (1921-1936) and its position on the media market during the first republic in Czechoslovakia

The Diploma Thesis named Social and Political Role of the Revue Parliament (1921-1936) and its Position on the Media Market during the First Republic in Czechoslovakia describes the role of the revue Parliament on the media market in the First Republic in Czechoslovakia. It introduces the period of the First Republic as time of alignment and stabilization of the new country based on democratic principles which were mirrored also in the then media creation. That was characterized by extensive diversity although having been subject to a censorship - in which numerous journals with various specializations and ideological values were finding their place. The Parliament, which I focused on, was significant by being published in the homonymous institution and specialized primarily in sociopolitical topics. It is obvious from its content that it set itself the task to defend an independent position of the republic and to introduce the public to its law and political culture. Periodical press in region of Rokycany in years 1945-1956

This thesis deals with the history of periodicals in the region Rokycany during the years 1945- 1956. It shows the evolution of journalism and it maps regional periodicals. There is also described the social climate with emphasizes on the social, political and cultural transformations of region Rokycany, which should illustrate the situation and bring deeper understanding of the context. The first part deals with the geographical and historical context of that region at the time of the First and Second Republic, the Protectorate and the post-war development until the mid-50s. The second chapter deals with a recap of periodicals until 1945, there are briefly described preserved periodicals. The main part maps the periodicals in region Rokycany during the years 1945-1956. At first the chapter focuses on an early post- war period, 1945-1948, when the social and political sphere began to awaken back to life again, and so did the journalism. During this period, many periodicals were dissolved, but on the other hand a lot of old periodicals were re-established and some new were founded. Strike of Strakonice Textile Workers in 1933 - social-economy conflict during the great depresion

The thesis, whose content is based on social history analysis of specific historical event which took place in Strakonice town at the turn of 1932 and 1933, is focused on the issue of strike as social- economical conflict with regard to catastrophe of the Great Depression 1929 significantly influencing political opinions of individual citizens. The main aim is to depict the dichotomy between anti system features of strike (strike as a political tool designated to control social tenses which can be used as weapon against government) and perceiving the strike clearly like a mutual conflict of interests between employer and employee without political aims. Afterwards, there will be interpreted several strategies and motivations of historical players (workers movement, political parties, other local elites of the town), which led to a competition for dominance. Substantial emphasis is placed on the analysis of ideology and strategy of Czechoslovak Communist party which struggled for hegemony over the local community of workers. Conclusions bring evaluation of social credit of historical players in the time of its entering and exiting the conflict and also the causes of its profits or loses.
Czechoslovak Occultism and its Representatives during the First Republic

The bachelor's thesis Czechoslovakia Occultism and its Important Representatives during the First Republic copes the theme of modern occultism in context of western esoteric traditions and formation the modern society. It focuses on the methodological issues of new religion movements and secularization, and on the comprehensive typology of occultism. By processing the thesis a special emphasis was given on deeper culture and historical roots, which were the basics of the Czech modern occultism. Firstly there is the evolution and dynamics of individual occult movements in Czech country and subsequently its most important representatives are mentioned. The main concentration is on the directions, which achieved eminent organized forms during the First Republic such as the spiritism, the hermeticism or the mysticism. However other significant directions are also mentioned in the thesis for example the theosophy. The study "Democrat Petr Zenkl (from teaching to the exile)" is a complex political monography of one of the most important Czechoslovak politicians, PhDr. Petr Zenkl. It focuses on his resistance to the rule of Austria-Hungary, his early activities and the beginnings of his political career, his municipal work in Prague, his participation in the governments of the First and Third Czechoslovak republic, his career in the Czechoslovak National Socialist Party and his leading role among anti-comunist exiles in the USA during the Cold War.
Periodical press in Kolin region during the period 1945-1948

The bachelor thesis Periodical Press in the Kolín Region during the period 1945-1948 focuses on the changes of the structure of periodical press in the Kolín region after the Second World War. The first part of the thesis describes the geographic and demographic characteristics of the Kolín region, which helps to create a complex picture of the Kolín region in the first half of the twentieth century. In the second part, the thesis describes the periodical press in the Kolín region before 1945. The Kolín region had already been rich in periodical press in the second half of nineteenth century. In the period of the First Republic, the most significant part of the press structure was the press of political parties, second to that, were the periodicals of non-political organizations such as Sokol or tourists. During the Second Republic and especially during the Second World War the gradual cessation of regional press resulted in the complete destruction of its structure. In the third part of the thesis, the situation in the Kolín region after Second World War is described. The press of the left wing political parties was renewed and the press of non-political organizations stayed, however due to the lack of paper, never recovered.
