A comparison of Jaromir Bosak's television commentary and his book football dairies
Holzknecht, Martin ; Halada, Jan (advisor) ; Slanec, Jaroslav (referee)
In this thesis I examine verbal expression of Jaromír Bosák, one of the most recognized commentators of live football matches employed in Czech television. I focus on two international tournaments - FIFA World Cup France 1998 and European championship UEFA Euro 2012 Poland-Ukraine. Afterwards I analyze Bosák's football diaries, which he creates during such tournaments and they are named Jaromír Bosák's French diary and Jaromír Bosák's football diary from Poland and Ukraine. Based on linguistic definition of distinction between verbal and written expression I get some of the primary premises. They are examined and compared with real situation in Bosák's books and commentary. As a result we may consider how much are said linguistic definitions applicable on whichever expression. After that I take a swift look on Bosák's television commentary in a different way and try to determine the main elements, which he had evolved during the fourteen examined years. In purpose of understanding all coherency in this subject this thesis contains a profile of Jaromír Bosák, list of basic differences between the language of spoken and written text as well as theoretical description of sport commentary as a genre.
« CONSTRUCTIONS INACHEVEES » : The meaning of the literary fragment and of the incomplete, their signification in the construction of the human self. Stendhal, Deml, Michaux
Prokop, Lukáš ; Vojvodík, Josef (advisor) ; Hrbata, Zdeněk (referee) ; Rinner, Fridrun (referee)
The objective of this work is to analyze the relation of a literary text to one's identity, to its understanding and to its formation through the written language. The relation between man and the world founded on the awareness of one's own visibility serves as the basis for this analysis. Further, the analysis draws on a hypothesis that one's own visibility within the world is perceived as both a threat and as something inauthentic. Thus, human beings make considerable effort to form themselves according to their own principles or to become someone else with the help of literary text, to take on various disguises and masks, but also to use language as a tool enabling them to uncover their own authenticity. On the onset, such approach was represented by Stendhal's work that is considered as the founding stone of literary egotism. The reason is that, in his work, Stendhal focuses exclusively on himself, which is manifested by a double gesture: self-analysis and self-construction. Both these gestures, performed by the means of language, have a number of successors in various literatures, including Czech literature and the work of Jakub Deml. In Deml's texts, too, the double gesture of self-analysis and self-construction can be recognized. By modifying his own identity, mainly through the inclusion of other...

The Representation of Shoah: Children Writing the Holocaust
Vlasáková, Šárka ; Holý, Jiří (advisor) ; Mravcová, Marie (referee)
Aim of this diploma thesis is to compare different forms of narrating of the holocaust through Children's eyes. Pure child's narration has much bigger impact on reader than narration of an adult, enriched with metaphors and attributes. In this way child's point of view extends the ethical dimension of holocaust narration. We will examine the discourse of child's narration in three diaries (The Diary of David Sierakowiak, The Diary of Mary Berg, The Beautiful Days of My Youth by Ana Novac), one Fictional diary (The Unloved. From the Diary of Perla S. by Arnošt Lustig) and a novella (Child of the Shadows by Henryk Grynberg). Children's narrators of the holocaust are characterized by psychological maturity, which contrasts with their official age. On the other hand they reveal childishness, while growing up, because of their unfinished childhood. In those books we will examine changing of the narrators discourse and his depiction of space (ghetto, concentration camp, shelter) and persons (family, friend, Nazis). We will also focus on distinct motives that form these books (e.g.: hunger, guilt, comic, Paradise, game).
