Úverové riziko a hospodársky cyklus
Vývoje vo finančnom systéme môžu zosilniť kolísanie makroekonomických ukazovateľov a podložiť základ rozsiahlej finančnej nestability.

Immunologic profile of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis
Novosádová, Iva ; Fišerová, Anna (advisor) ; Zajícová, Alena (referee)
5 Anglický abstrakt Experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) is widely accepted as a murine model of human multiple sclerosis autoimmune disease. Murine EAE is usually actively induced by immunization with a suitable myelin antigen. Following immunization, CD4+ T helper lymphocytes Th1 and Th17 accumulate in the nervous tissue and via the production of cytokines, they mediate an inflammatory reaction and the subsequent destruction of myelin. The main goal of this study was the induction of EAE with clinically observable symptoms and the observation of changes in the counts and phenotypes of cells, mainly NK and T cells. NK cells express a wide range of inhibitory and activation receptors from the C-lectin-like receptor superfamily. The specific ligand of the activating NKR-P1C isoform is still unknown and thus this receptor's involvement in EAE was also observed. Another goal was the use of medication with regard to the disease progress improvement. For the purposes of this study, two inbred murine strains with distinct NKR-P1 surface expression were used - the SJL/J strain (expressing inhibitory NKR-P1B) and C57BL/6 (expression activating NKR-P1C). SJL mice elicited a relapse-remitting of EAE, while C57BL/6 had chronic EAE. Both mouse strains exerted changes in the counts of NK...

Vladimir Nabokov - as a Translator of his own Works
Srpová, Kateřina ; Hlaváček, Antonín (advisor) ; Hříbková, Radka (referee)
The aim of this thesis was to compare the output of Vladimir Nabokov - the translator, and Vladimir Nabokov - the translator of his own works. Therefore the first part of this thesis deals mainly with Nabokov's language background. Nabokov was a bilingual author who wrote with equal fluency both in Russian and English, sometimes even in French. He was able to translate from and into these languages too. Nabokov began his translating career as a significant representative of free translation method. His translation of Carroll's Alice in Wonderland into Russian may serve a good example of this approach. However, during his life his attitude towards translation completely changed to an extreme of literalism. After the disastrous translation of his novel Kamera obskura into English carried out by Winifred Roy, Nabokov concluded that it is only the author himself who has the right to change anything in the process of translation. In agreement with this principle, he embraced an extremely literalist doctrine in translating Eugen Onegin into English. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

The Concept of Pollution Kegare in Japan at the Turn of 16th and 17th Century
Mornsteinová, Lucie ; Labus, David (advisor) ; Sýkora, Jan (referee)
The major objective of this master thesis, is to describe the process of forming and development of the social groups connected with the concept of ritual pollution kegare in Japan at the turn of 16th century. The main questions are: In which direction did the development of these groups tend to go from the outset of the Japanese Middle Ages? Did the policies of the unifiers of Japan cause any disruptions to this development, and if so, what was the new direction? Was creation of the Edo outcaste order also motivated by an effort to restrict access to strategical commodities, or was it only a side effect of individual edicts and restrictions? To answer these questions I used two approaches. At first I diachronically described the development of groups connected with the concept of ritual pollution from the ancient times, and to this data I applied Mary Douglas's grid and group theory. Results of this show that during the time period in question development of groups of eta tanners was significantly accelerated, while the status of the non-persons groups of hinin was stagnating, or regressing. This thesis hopefully offers a brief insight into the overlooked aspects of Japanese history, and sheds some light on the reason for the discrimination of descendants of the burakumin group which in Japan...

The molecular mechanism of CSL protein participation in oxidative stress response in Schizosaccharomyces pombe
Daněk, Petr ; Převorovský, Martin (advisor) ; Sipiczki, Matthias (referee)
Redox homeostasis maintenance is important for proper organism and cell function, for while relatively low amount of reactive oxygen (and nitrogen) species contributes to the fine tuning of signal transduction, excessive concentration of ROS (oxidative stress) has demonstrably harmful effects and is tightly connected to many pathological states. Cells therefore evolved broad palette of antioxidant mechanisms that express striking level of conservation among different species. Large, intricate stress response signaling networks have been already described; nonetheless, novel molecules employed in stress-related signaling are still being discovered. Several studies recently suggested transcription factors CSL, proteins essential for regulation of metazoan development as effectors of Notch signaling, are also involved in response to oxidative stress. The fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe, well established model of response to various stresses, comprises two paralogs of CSL proteins - Cbf11 and Cbf12. We have found cells depleted of cbf11 are highly resistant to hydrogen peroxide. This resistance appears to be caused by upregulation of important stress responsive genes including ctt1, gst2, pyp2, and atf1. Cbf11 is therefore negative regulator of these genes, which suppresses their expression...

Blindness and Obsession: Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita and Laughter in the Dark
Rychnovská, Tereza ; Quinn, Justin (advisor) ; Procházka, Martin (referee)
Many books and essays have been written on the works of Vladimir Nabokov, of which my bibliography contains only a tiny fragment. Yet, most of the studies make comparisons within either Nabokov's Russian works or his American works, while the comparison of the two novels I have chosen, Lolita and Laughter in the Dark, is very rare. Most novels by Vladimir Nabokov display the themes of obsession, blindness, manipulation, freedom, and morality. Most of them also are about games, including language games, and the love of language in general. Nabokov switched from writing in Russian to English and experienced a great deal of pain in relinquishing his native tongue, becoming a phantom in his own prose, as if, he said, he had created the person who wrote in English but was not himself doing the writing. 1 Bearing this in mind, it is also important to state that he had translated two of his Russian novels into English (Laughter in the Dark and Despair) . This split in Nabokov's life into two periods is also why it was of great relevance to me that I should compare two of his novels that were written at different times, in different languages, and with different backgrounds. It might seem more natural to compare two novels originally written in Russian that have quite similar plots and characters, Laughter in the...

Footbridge in Kyjov
Maleňák, Jan ; Štrba, Michal (referee) ; Barnat, Jan (advisor)
The content of diploma thesis is design of the construction of steel footbridge for pedestrians and cyclists. The footbridge is across the railway in Kyjov. The design will be processed in two options of structure. The selected option will be developed in greater detail. The span of footbridge is 35 m and the width is 3 m. The contruction is made by two arched beams which are connected to the bridge deck by suspenders. The stability of the construction is provided by longitudinal bracing under the bridge deck and the bracing between the arched beams. The assessment of the structure was made according to valid standards.

The Impact of the Fall of the Berlin Wall on RAF
Matějková, Nikola ; Renner, Tomáš (advisor) ; Daňková, Šárka (referee)
The terrorist group Red Army Fraction ("RAF"), which jeopardized the public security with their attacks in West Germany since the seventies and killed more than three thousand people, issued a statement of official closure on April 20, 1998 after 28 years of its activity. This thesis tries to answer the question whether the fall of the Berlin Wall brought the final dissolution of the group. In addition to geopolitical changes it is also necessary to take into account the instruments of the national security policy and the split of opinion within the group. The geopolitical reversal in 1989 had two negative impacts on the RAF. Firstly it meant a devastating ideological defeat for them, even though the former GDR or any other Eastern Bloc country did not respond fully to their expectations. Another shock for them was the arrest of ten former RAF-members who were hiding in the GDR under a false identity. They eventually filed an extensive testimony, so that their sentences could be commuted. Federal Republic of Germany, which had not been too successful in the fight against terrorism up to this time, used the internal weakness of the RAF caused by political circumstances and it finally introduced new instruments to further destabilize the group and led to a rift between prisoners and members at large....

Search of the most suitable method of estimation of output gap for the czech economy
Kloudová, Dana ; Brožová, Dagmar (advisor) ; Mirvald, Michal (referee) ; Lukáš, Ladislav (referee)
By monetary policy decisions, central banks use output gap to keep macroeconomic variables at their natural levels. A substantial disadvantage of this variable is the fact that it is an unobservable variable which is very problematic to measure, although it is possible to estimate it with various methods of estimation. This thesis aims to find the most suitable method of estimation for Czech economy. Thirteen methods have been chosen for this aim: linear trend, quadratic trend, HP filter, band-pass filters, robust trend, univariate unobserved component model, two types of production function, two SVAR models, multivariate HP filter and multivariate unobserved component model. Own estimations have shown that estimated trajectories of unobservable states were not identical. For own selection of the most suitable method of estimation, quantitative (ability to forecast inflation ,a growth of product and data revisions by selected national and international organisations) and qualitative criterions (qualities of methods of estimation, transparency and easy application) have been selected, where emphasis was put on quantitative criterions. Results of this thesis will show that the most suitable method of estimation output gap for Czech economy is multivariate unobserved component model.
