Spiritual Service in Prison in the Context of Postpenitential Care

The diploma thesis "Pastoral service in prison in the context of post-penitentiary care" deals with the issue of re-socialization and reintegration of people released from an execution of a prison and is also concerned with the potential ways of afterward pastoral care. Further it describes the service of prison chaplains, their participation in post-penitentiary care and their role in involving a convict into a church community. It defines some of the problems associated with the individual's reintegration into society. In the practical part it pursues and analyzes the need of some of the former inmates for finding a position within a church community. On the other hand it outlines the ability and willingness of the communities themselves to accept the released inmates. The author concludes with suggesting some partial steps which would improve the possibilities of accepting the former prisoners into church communities.

Special catechesis. Theory and Practice

This dissertation titled "Special catechesis. Theory and Practice" explores the methods of teaching religion to mentally handicapped children. The research focuses on the presentation of theoretical and practical methods introduced by D, Jucha, J. Madeja, D.Doroszewka, B. Janosz and other significant Polish catechists. The theoretical part, besides a systematicly processed terminology also deals with the actual content and the main aim of special-care catechesis. In addition, it provides an interpretation the dignity of man as it can be found in some church archives. Last, but not least, attention is drawn to the important role of families, parishes and catechists. The second, practical, part is inspired by the methods of B. Janosz - whether it is put to creative use along with new teaching materials as well as new communication tools that motivate mentally handicapped children for active participation in special-care classes. The author of this study concluded that even the weakest must be provided adequate catechesis as every human being, no matter how limited, is capable of growth to sanctity. These people feel the need and are entitled to life in faith. There is a need for oligo-catechesis and it is unquestionable.


Approaches of health workers to restraining procedures in clients with Alzheimer disease

This thesis discusses the approaches of health workers to restraining procedures in clients with Alzheimer disease. It observes how the medics and the health workers solve aggression, pronounced restlessness and behaviour disorders of clients with dementia. The focus of this thesis is on investigating of individual restraining procedures and the opinions about their use in clients with Alzheimer disease, when experiencing aggression, anxiety and behaviour disorders. The participants involved were the medics, the nurses and the social workers of four institutions of social care for elderly and two departments of geriatrics in Czech Republic.

The theoretical part surveys history, progress and shows the effort of all members of the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service. Crux of the thesis is an experiential part incurred on the base of quantitative research by the method of unstandardized questionnaire investigation. The main importance is placed on illustration of mutual cooperation and cooperation and seriousness in the care of patients. In the research investigation in the period March - April 2010 there 25 respondents-doctors and 25 respondents-rescuers working in Jihlava and Hradec Králové at Helicopter Emergency Service participated.

Resume - Care for the employees The purpose of this diploma thesis was to summarize the legal regulation of employees' care in the Czech Republic. The current competitive environment forces businesses to innovate with the aim of reaching sustainable competitive advantage. Within the invisible assets, the human factor is getting more and more to the centre and becomes the leading factor which influences company's efficiency. That is why the importance of questions concerning personal tasks is growing. In this context, issues concerning employees' care are also discussed to be an indivisible part of company's social policy. Even though the employees' care is in the Czech environment limited only to fulfilling the legal requirements, many businessmen start to realize the importance of quality employees' care for the company - mostly thanks to international standards in foreign companies. All of these matters reflex not only in the real company's behavior (employers), but also in the current development of legal regulations, that they regulate in terms of employees' care. The legal regulation is currently being gradually liberalized; it solves only the basic issues and suggests which areas should be in the centre of attention of employers. Insulin resistance is one of hot topics of present medicine not only in its braches focused on civilization diseases such as diabetology or obesitology but also in other fields, namely in intensive care medicine. Hyperglycemia caused by accelerated insulin resistance is observed in critically ill patients very often. It has many undesirable effects and potential complications. This phenomenon is caused by a network of different mechanisms, especially by systemic inflammatory response and subsequent burst of stress hormones and proinflammatory cytokines which directly participate in the ethiopatogenesis of insulin resistance. Recent investigations documented that many of proinflammatory cytokines are directly produced by adipose tissue. Although basic mechanisms of insulin resistance and type 2 type diabetes mellitus in obese subjects are somewhat different in both pathologie overproduction of some proinflammatory cytokines by adipose tissue may play a role. It has been demonstrated that correction of hyperglycemia in criticially ill patient by intensive insulin therapy leads to reduction of thein morbidity and mortality. Abuse of the elderly in long-term care and its prevention through positive action by managers

This thesis focuses on abuse of elderly people in institutional care by the staff. The theoretical part first starts with description of elder abuse in general and than moves onto issue of abuse od elderly people in health and social care institutions. The last part suggests instruments which can be used by manager to prevent abuse. The practical part contains description of a qualitative research conducted with ten participants and their responses to questions about their opinions and experience with abuse of elderly people in health and social care settings. The Assessment of Pain by a Nurse and the Control of Post-operative Pain

This diploma work is focused on post-surgical pain. It lays out the role of a nurse in pain assessment, factors influencing post-surgical pain and ways of its controlling. It also publishes the results of the research organized in the surgical fields of the Central Military Hospital Prague in January and February 2006. The work is structured into two large parts, theoretical and empirical one. The diploma work underlines the importance of the team cooperation of all those who participate in pain management and in individualized complex nursing care for a patient in the past-surgical time period.
