GSM-EDGE and UMTS Systems Coexistence
Gleissner, Filip ; Hanus, Stanislav (advisor)
The dissertation thesis deals with the investigation of the coexistence of GSM–EDGE and UMTS systems with focus on the physical layer of the systems. The aim is to provide a set of recommendations for practical cooperation while the systems operate in both the separated and the common radio bands. A detailed description of signal processing of both the systems on the physical layer is presented. On the basis of this description, models of both systems were created and implemented in the MATLAB environment. The simulations are focused on the physical layer quality parameters, especially the bit error ratio evaluation for various ratios of useful signal power to noise power during the transmission over the radio channel. Simulation is also used to examine the quality of received useful signal while it is interfered by signals from the same and adjacent channels. The purpose is to determine the isolation between these adjacent channels, when the bit error ratio of the useful signal does not exceed a certain reference value. The simulation results are subsequently subjected to comparison with the results of the experimental measurements in laboratory conditions. Before the measurements are carried out, a study of possible interference types is performed. Consequently, the crucial parameters of the measuring equipment used are verified. From the results of simulations and measurements, the proposal of a minimum and recommended carrier separation between both the systems is presented in order to efficiently utilize the assigned frequency spectrum. Furthermore, for the cooperation in both the separated and the common radio bands, the necessary precautions are given for reaching the required isolation and thereby inter-system interference minimization.
Continuous mathematical models of population dynamics
Pecka, Luboš ; Opluštil, Zdeněk (referee) ; Franců, Jan (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to describe the most frequent models describing population dynamics and then to perform some numerical experiments in the MATLAB environment. These simulations should validate our theoretical results. The models are sorted from the basic models to the most complicated and are divided into the models which describe dynamics of one population and models of coexistence of two biological species. The master's thesis icludes also a program for drawing graphs and trajectories of solutions of models described in this thesis including a description of this MATLAB program.
Coexistence of the communication systems in ISM band
Nowak, Dan ; Kejík, Petr (referee) ; Prokopec, Jan (advisor)
The purpose of this work is to study the physical layer technology of the communication systems working in the ISM band, to describe coexistence mechanisms in the selected frequency band, consequently to create models of the physical layers in the Simulink interface, to simulate synchronous transmission of the devices and to modify the model in order to correspond with coexistence mechanisms described in IEEE standard 802.15.2. The practical part of this paper examines the effect of Wi-Fi device output power on the transmission speed during synchronous transmission with Bluetooth device.
Signal processing in ZigBee system
Miloš, Jiří ; Bradáč, Zdeněk (referee) ; Hanus, Stanislav (advisor)
Master's thesis The Signal Processing in ZigBee System is focused on properties of Physical Layer of ZigBee (standard IEEE 802.15.4 - 2003). The work consists of three parts. The first part contains common view on using and properties of ZigBee. The next part focuses on the Medium Access Control Layer and in detail on the Physical Layer. There described signal processing in the Physical Layer in individual radio bands. The last part of the project contains the process of modeling in the MATLAB for both models of system ZigBee (bands 868/915 MHz and 2450 MHz). The last part of thesis deals with the simulations of BER depending on Carrier-to-Noise Ratio. Also examined the coexistence of systems operating in the same or a nearby frequency band. Based on the results of simulations there are given recommendations for the use of the ZigBee system in minimizing BER.
Intercultural coexistence of Czech living in Berlin
MAZUROVÁ, Dominika
This bachelor thesis is focused on intercultural coexistence in the background of life of Czech female in Berlin. Thesis will deal with intercultural and multicultural issues in the Czech Republic and attempts comparison with the situation in Germany, especially in Berlin. More noticable are increasingly strong voices against the idea of intercultural coexistence. Bachelor thesis will therefore partly explain whether is the idea of intercultural coexistence feasible and how this issue looks in the eyes of the author's friends from different countries. The theoretical part will highlight the development of interculturalism from a historical perspective and its current perception. Marginally compares the most opressive problems of interculturalism of selected countries.
Myth and reality of gipsy population
HLOUCH, Vojtěch
The coexistence of Czech and Roma communities is beset with numerous issues. Despite the Roma population being a part of the country?s population for centuries, the Roma still find themselves foreigners within the society, perceive the Czech population as hostile and reject even its positive values. The Roma minority blames the Czech society for coldness, hostility and above all discrimination, xenophobia and racism. The Czech population on the other hand upbraids the Roma for noisiness, lack of education, poor work ethics, high unemployment and crime rates, among other things. The theoretical part of the paper is divided according to separate issues relevant for the Roma population in the Czech Republic. The history of the Roma population is presented, since it is considered a notable part of history as well as a significant factor in the current situation. The theoretical part also presents the issues of myth and stereotype, forming a part of any society and affecting its actions from its historical beginnings to the present time. This part of the paper also introduces other key topics relevant for the Roma minority, such as coexistence with the majority society, levels of education, unemployment, crime rates, and socially excluded neighbourhoods. For the practical part of the work, plausible hypotheses were developed for the two objectives described above, to be verified or disproved by practical experiment. H 1: More than half of the representatives of the investigated majority holds the opinion that Roma employment is less than one-third. H 2: The representatives of the investigated majority in more than half amount have personally or vicariously encountered crime perpetrated by Roma. H 3: Representatives of the majority society believes that the most common source of finance for Roma in the investigated localities are social benefits. H 4: Most of the representatives of the investigated majority hold the opinion that Roma are poorly mindful of their children's education. H 5: Most of the majority society in the village of Větřní is of the opinion that better education of Roma has no effect on better employment of Roma. For the practical part of the work, quantitative research employing controlled interview was used to obtain necessary data about the selected locations. The particular sites chosen were: in České Budějovice, the housing estate ?Máj? at the V. Volf Street and its surroundings; in Český Krumlov, the housing estate ?Mír? and the surroundings of the Lipová Street. In the village of Větřní, the research focused on the geographically lower part of the settlement. All three locations are considered socially excluded according to an analysis of socially excluded neighbourhoods. 50 respondents were interviewed in each of České Budějovice and Český Krumlov, and 30 respondents were interviewed in Větřní. The thesis set out to achieve two tasks. The first was to identify the perceptions held by the majority society about the Roma minority in the selected neighbourhoods and about its some of the issues. This objective was achieved, and the practical part of the paper describes in detail the perceptions of the majority society about the minority and its issues. The second task was to describe the differences in these perceptions between the investigated neighbourhoods. This second objective was also achieved. In the practical part of my thesis I have confirmed that the perceptions between the investigated neighbourhoods about the minority is not very different.
Risk assessment and perspectives of GMO cultivation in the Czech Republic
ŠANDEROVÁ, Šárka
The bachelor thesis provides an overview of the issue of genetically modified organisms (GMOs). I chose this topic because its importance is currently increasing as GMOs and their products are becoming inherent part of our lives. The areas sown with GM crops increase in the world every year and GM products are also imported to the Czech Republic. In the literature research are described methods used to insert foreign DNA into plant cells. Especially common is transformation via bacteria strain Agrobacterium using so called microprojectiles. Most often used transgenes cause the plant to gain new properties, such as tolerance to herbicides, resistance to insect pests, tolerance to stress etc. There follows a summary of the legislative conditions and the concept of coexistence in the Czech Republic, which every grower, who decides to grow GM crops, should follow. In Europe only two GM crops are allowed for commercial cultivation, Bt corn and GM potatoes. In 2010 The Czech Republic became the only European country where both the allowed crops were grown. In the thesis is also summarised existing knowledge of GM crops cultivation in the world. Finally, we evaluate potential risks associated with GM crops cultivation. Significant role in the risk assessment plays also the impact of GMO cultivation on target and nontarget organisms. We also discuss the possibilities and prospects of their cultivation in our country and in the world. The aim of the thesis is to help the readers, professional or not, understand the issue so they can form their own opinion.
