Topics of international comparison of criminal-law regulation of corruption
Kurzová, Nora ; Gřivna, Tomáš (advisor) ; Tlapák Navrátilová, Jana (referee)
RESUME: The purpose of my thesis is to analyse criminal law regulation of corruption. The reason for my research is my long term interest in criminal law, criminology and specifically in compliance and anti-bribery matters. The thesis is composed of fourteen chapters, each of them dealing with different aspects of criminal law regulation of corruption and related fields. Chapter One and Two are introductory and define basic terminology used in the thesis and introduce organisations and laws dealing with corruption worldwide. Chapter Three briefly describes the origins and growth of corruption as a phenomenon in human society and brings a closer look at the connection of growth of corruption and implementation of criminal law procedures as incorporated through different conventions and international law enforcement organisations as well as NGOs. Following is given overview of the global situation of criminal law regulation and its unification and tools that are mostly used and organisations taking most initiative. The next chapter is subdivided into different parts each dealing with different aspect of criminal law regulation world-wide. In Chapter six I take a closer look at FCPA, legal act which I find has a leading trend in the battle against corruption today, worldwide. I also include my original...

Tests for Multiple Changes in Linear Regression Models
Marušiaková, Miriam ; Hušková, Marie (advisor) ; Prášková, Zuzana (referee) ; Picek, Jan (referee)
We consider tests for multiple structural changes in linear regression models. The tests are based on F-type test statistics for the null hypothesis of no change against k changes or against an unknown number of changes with a given upper bound. We extend the existing results to linear regression models with deterministically trending regressors. Moreover, we introduce a generalized M-type test statistic which is based on functionals of weighted M-residuals. In change-point analysis approximations to critical values are usually obtained through the limit behavior of the respective test statistic under the null hypothesis. However, these approximations are often not satisfactory. Either the convergence of the test statistic to its limit distribution is rather slow or the limit distribution itself is very complex. An alternative approach is to apply resampling methods. We explore this possibility for F-type and M-type test statistics in the presence of multiple change points. We prove that the bootstrap method provides asymptotically correct critical values for the studied tests. We conduct several simulation experiments to show that the bootstrap based approximations are reasonable also in nite sample situations. Moreover, these approximations are often better than the asymptotic critical values. Finally, we...

Analysis of political culture in the Czech Republic
Šmíd, Petr ; Müller, Karel (advisor) ; Rohrbacher, Tomáš (referee)
The work is based on the definition of political culture and the evolution of political culture in the Czech society from the time of the Austrian Empire to the present. This analysis uses the concept of Gabriel Almond and Sydney Verba given in the book The Civic Culture. Author seeks to characterize its various features and tendences and the reasons for their emergence. The first part deals with the very concept of political culture and the difficulty of its precise definition and with the existence of various definitions and concepts. In the next part the author analyzes the gradual emergence of the individual features and their change in different periods of Czech history. After that are listed the various features of the current political culture of the Czech society. Author tries to answer the question whether the Czech political culture in its development hold certain trends and patterns of behavior and whether it is possible to expect changes in the development of political culture in the Czech Republic in the near future.
