Master’s thesis are concerned with the cutting ceramic materials and its ef-fective usage. The first part of the thesis is focused on the general properties of the cutting ceramics, its history, development, production and description of the various types. This part includes as well a description of the mechanic-physical properties and the potential of the usage for machining. The second part of the work solves the general evaluation of the cutting power. The main issue in the next part is the identification of cutting ceramics range and the selection accor-ding to main world producers. The fourth part deals with the assessments and the comparison of the working conditions for different types of the machined ma-terials. The technical economic assessment shows the potentials in the total pro-duction costs reduction.

Antimicrobial effect of agents predestined for prevention of contamination V.
Lepíková, Pavla ; Jílek, Petr (advisor) ; Křivčíková, Lucie (referee)
This thesis deals largely with the influence of UV radiation on the antimicrobial effects of several paint coats, which differed only varying concentrations of zinc oxide. Therefore, the relationship of concentration of oxide to the antimicrobial effects was studied, too. In this work, paints were tested by three different methods. As the test microorganisms were used S. aureus, E. coli and C. albicans. Using the first method, tested paints were not irradiated with UV light at all. Using the second method, paints were irradiated 30 minutes before applying the bacterial suspension. Using the third method, tested paints were irradiated simultaneously with bacterial suspensions. After cultivation of removed samples, CFU numbers were determined. By processing the values was found that the paints tested using the third method had the best effect. Thus the influence of UV radiation on the antimicrobial properties of the examined paints was proved. Results also showed that the most effective paint contained 7.9% ZnO. Testing demonstrated the greatest sensitivity of Gram-negative bacteria E. coli. The paints had the smallest antimicrobial effect on C. albicans.

Horáková, Markéta ; Sklenářová, Hana (advisor) ; Chocholouš, Petr (referee)
Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of analytical chemistry Candidate: Mgr. Markéta Horáková Consultant: PharmDr. Hana Sklenářová Ph.D. Title of Thesis: Study of chemiluminescence properties of metformin using sequential injection analysis Chemiluminescent properties of metformin were studied using a sequential injection analysis in the three systems with different composition of the reagents. The first system used potassium permanganate and sulfuric acid, the second cerium sulfate tetrahydrate and (tris (2,2 '-bipyridyl) dichloro-ruthenium hexahydrate. The third system used the N- bromsukcinimid and fluorescein. The flow rate, concentration and volumes of reagents, scheme of the measuring cycle and used solvents have been optimized into the first two systems. The concentration of N-bromosuccinimide (NBS) and fluorescein in the third system were based on data found in literature [Zhouping Wang, Anal. Lett. 2003]. The volume and speed were detected automatically using the program FaFSIAOptim, created the Department of Analytical Chemistry. Scheme of the measuring cycle was optimized in the same way as in the previous two systems. During the optimization, and subsequent measurements revealed that the only suitable system is the third system with NBS and...

Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Analytical Chemistry Candidate: Martina Dulavová Supervisor: PharmDr. Lucie Havlíková, Ph.D., Ass.Prof. Hannelore Kopelent Title of Diploma Thesis: A New Selective and Stability Indicating HPLC Assay for the Determination of Naphazoline in Preparations for Ocular Use Naphazoline is a 2-imidazolidine derivated drug and alpha-adrenergic agonist with vasoconstrictive and decongestive properties. Naphazoline is indicated for the therapy of rhinitis, sinusitis or allergic conjunctivitis. Naphazoline is used in liquid formulations for ophthalmic and nasal application. Naphazoline is marketed in a number of commercially available products; for example, it is contained in Coldan® Augentropfen. Due to economic and therapeutic reasons, hospital pharmacies produce miscellaneous in-house preparations. For our study, two different preparations manufactured in the sterile production of a hospital pharmacy containing naphazoline are investigated. The first formulation is based on two commercially available products and it is a mixture of Coldan® Augentropfen and Okuzell® Augentropfen at a ratio of 1:9. The second formulation is Bor-Naphazolin Augentropfen and it is completely prepared in a hospital pharmacy. In addition to...

Applications of chiral and achiral chromatography in pharmacology and toxicology
Chytil, Lukáš ; Slanař, Ondřej (advisor) ; Bultas, Jan (referee) ; Coufal, Pavel (referee)
Development and validation of methods for analysis of several drugs or their metabolites are decribed in this thesis. The document is presented as a commentary to the original papers, which were published in peer reviewed journals. Discussion on the optimization of each method is presented and covers also method development and influence of preanalytical aspects. Additionally, examples of the application of the developed methods in clinical pharmacology and toxicology are shown. This dissertation consists of three parts: enantiomeric determination of tramadol and its metabolite, determination of some antihypertensive drugs, and qualitative analysis of benzodiazepines. Development of a method for chiral analysis of tramadol and its desmethylated metabolite O- desmethyltramadol (ODT) in human urine and plasma is described in the first part of the thesis. Tramadol is a centrally acting analgetic drug, which is used as racemate in clinical practise. Each enantiomer displays different binding properties for various receptors: (+)-tramadol preferentially inhibits serotonin reuptake while (-)-tramadol mainly inhibits noradrenalin reuptake. (+)-tramadol is considered 10-times more potent than (-)-tramadol. Major active metabolite (ODT), which is considered to be the main agent responsible for the...

Weighted rearrangement-invariant spaces and their basic properties
Soudský, Filip ; Pick, Luboš (advisor)
In this thesis we shall provide the reader with results in the field of classical Lorentz spaces. These spaces have been studied since the 50's and have many applications in partial differential equations and interpolation theory. This work includes five papers. The first paper studies the properties of Generalized Gamma spaces. The second paper provides an alternative proof of normability characterization of classical Lorentz spaces. The third paper discusses conditions of linearity and quasi-norm property of rearrangement-invariant lattices. The following paper gives a characterization of normability of Gamma spaces. And finally the last paper characterizes the embeddings between GΓ spaces. 1

Is the Concept of the Laffer Curve Valid ?
Herbst, Karel ; Schneider, Ondřej (advisor) ; Hedbávný, Petr (referee)
i Abstract This thesis deals with the issue of Laffer curve. According to the idea of the Laffer curve when the tax rate exceeds certain treshold (revenue-maximizing tax rate) the tax revenue would in absolute terms decrease with rising tax rate. Therefore this thesis tries to discover whether those facts are valid in the corporate income taxation for 20 OECD countries for the time period from 1965 to 2006. The structure of the thesis could be divided into three parts. In first introductory chapters the issue of taxation would be discussed in general. It will briefly examine the history of taxation and explore the theory of taxation and tax systems. The second part of this thesis will focus on the Laffer curve in detail. Third chapter will introduce the theory behind Laffer curve and discuss its properties for different types of taxation. In the following chapter the literature and different possibilities of estimation of the Laffer curve and (or) Laffer effects would be reviewed. Fifth chapter focuses on the corporate income taxation per se and examines the development of corporate income tax revenue and rates in our sample countries. In the last part of this thesis the econometric estimates of the Laffer curve for corporate income taxation are presented. The Laffer curve would be estimated for three...
