The Saxons in Bohemia 1631-1632

Předmětem této práce je zpracování epizodické události z dějin třicetileté války, tažení saské armády do Čech v letech 1631 a 1632. Text práce je rozvržen do šesti kapitol. První z nich shrnuje přehled dosavadního bádání o tématu a seznamuje čtenáře s existující literaturou a použitými prameny pro sepsání tohoto pojednání. Druhá kapitola věnovaná počátkům tažení saského vojska do Čech řeší odpověď na některé z otázek položených v úvodu: Proč se uskutečnilo tažení do Čech? Na tuto otázku nelze zcela jednoznačně odpovědět. Podnětem k němu mohly být dva důvody spojené z faktem, že této příležitosti bylo možné využít k živení saské armády na území Čech. Prvním důvodem mohly být obavy saské strany z napadení kurfiřtství císařskými vojsky pod velením Aldringena a Tiefenbacha. Druhým důvodem mohla být obava z plánů českých pobělohorských exulantů. Ti, pod vedením Jindřicha Matyáše hraběte z Thurnu usilovali o návrat do staré vlasti a o obnovení náboženských a politických poměrů do té míry, jaké existovaly před rokem 1620. Toto se mělo zdařit vyvoláním povstání v zemi proti císaři a českému králi Ferdinandovi II. za podpory švédské armády. Informedness of primiparas about the care of newborn.

The topic of the bachelor thesis is the informedness of primiparas about a newborn child care. The theoretical part of the thesis explains terms physiological newborn child, his/her postnatal adaptation and basic care of a newborn child. It describes the basic acts that the nurses aim to teach all mothers in hospital, such as changing nappies, bathing, caring of the umbilical scar and handling a newborn child. It also describes the equipment needed for basic care of a child. The practical part of the thesis raised five objectives and five hypotheses. The first objective was to compare the level of informedness of primiparas in two hospitals in the Czech Republic (Oblastní nemocnice Příbram, a.s. and Nemocnice České Budějovice, a.s.). The hypothesis that the informedness of primiparas in Oblastní nemocnice Příbram, a.s. is lower has not been confirmed. The other objectives were to ascertain the level of informedness of primiparas about bathing techniques, treatment of the umbilical scar and handling a new-born child, and the sources from which the primiparas obtain most information. The hypothesis that primiparas have sufficient information about bathing techniques, care of the umbilical scar and the ways how to take a new-born child from the cot and how to hold the child correctly, and the hypothesis that they obtain most information from the nurses in hospital and, when being out of hospital, from the Internet have been confirmed. The results of the research are presented in charts and compared with technical literature in the respective chapter. The bachelor thesis could serve as a source of information both for students and for mothers-to-be.

Playing Tricks: An analysis of Janice Galloway

Novels by Scottish author Janice Galloway belong to the most influential works in contemporary Scottish women's writing and her female characters often offer a stunning insight into the minds of women, who are stricken by various forms of emotional or existential distress. The aim of this thesis is to discuss and closely examine the main character Joy Stone in Galloway's most famous novel The Trick is to Keep Breathing, in order to analyse the position of a woman in contemporary Scottish society and underline the importance of work such as this one. The first aspect that attracts attention is its unusual and experimental form apparent from the very first sight by the mere flicking through the book. The text seems to be living its own life, often changing form, breaking down into lists, signs or play-like dialogues, and some words even partly disappear off the pages. This fragmentation is one of the main focuses of the novel and it is expressed in two levels. One of them is the fragmentation of the text which mirrors the second one, the mental breakdown of the main character Joy Stone. The Apostles'Creed according to J.M. Lochman and according to Karl Barth

This bachelor's work The Apostles' Creed according to J. M. Lochman and according to Karl Barth deals with the comparison of commentaries of J. M. Lochman and K. Barth to the Christology of the Apostles' creed. Lochman's book The Faith We Confess. An Ecumenical Dogmatics is used as an initial text that is subsequently compared to the text of three Barth's books: Credo, Das Glaubensbekenntnis der Kirche and Dogmatik im Grundriss. Because of its defined scope, this work deals just with first four chapters of the Christology part of the Creed. In connection with the Creed these chapters has the title "... I believe in Jesus Christ", "... His only Sun, our Lord", "... He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary", "... He suffered under Pontius Pilate". First the context of the appropriate chapters from Lochman's book and relevant comments from the above-mentioned Barth's books are summarized. The main focuses and differences of both authors are described at the end. Barth's books Credo and Das Glaubensbekenntnis der Kirche were Geman issues dated 1948 and 1967, respectively; Lochman's The Faith We Confess and Barth's Dogmatik im Grundriss are Czech translations dated 1996 and 1952, respectively.

Carnival and Schizophreny of the Most Landscape.

Resume The goal of my thesis is to familiarize readers with Schizophrenia, a term used by local people to describe a traumatic social phenomenon which is to be found in Most brown coal mining region, northern part of Czech Republic. I start from Sherry Ortner's assumption that history is influenced both by social system and by agency. Therefore, I analyze traumatic face of Most landscape, reorganized by modern technology heavily together with anency of local inhabitants transformed onto collective public events. Readers can find here one of the first attempt to organize rich material, collected durnig my five years long ethnographic field work done in a Strupcice village. By the reasons of socialistic programme to mine the village and thanks to postsocialistic changes in Czech law, Strupcice got stuck and surrounded by two large mines. The village is dynamically developing presently. There are two main chapters from total five in the thesis. In the first one, I find the traumatic part of the surrounding landscape in several kinds of material, nevertheless the most important one is represented by naratives. Usage of Open Source Software in the Czech Public Administration

This thesis deals with problems of open source software and its usage in an organization. The thesis is divided into three main parts; first of them describes the definiton, history, characteristic and actual offer of open source software; second part moves us to the Public Administration world, where it surveys stage of implementation of open source software in some countries around the world and in the Czech Republic especially; third part uses gained finding from the previous parts to design application architecture to particular conditions of The University of Economics, Prague. First of the main goals of this thesis is to analyse possibilities of implementation of open source software instead of closed software. Next one is to chart the state of implementation of this type of software into Public Administration field in the Czech Republic and abroad. Last objective is to project application architecture with usage of open source software to particular condition of The University of Economics, Prague. These goals was achieved by studying many information resources, discussions with specialist, including of representatives of the state, about the given topics, and further analyse of current conditions of The University of Economics, Prague. Benefits of this thesis are especially compact view on open source software, further the survey of opinions of representatives of state, representatives of towns and next specialists on this type of software a its possibilities of usage in public administration. Last but not least benefit is to desing the application architecture to particular, rather complex, environment of The University of Economics, Prague.

Veronika Doležalová Mezinárodní a vnitrostátní aspekty dvojího zdan ní 160 International and national aspects of double taxation - Resumé This thesis pays attention to the area of double taxation and its related national as well as international aspects. The reason for discussing this subject was its importance for removing the obstacles that double taxation presents to the development of economic relations between countries. The thesis is divided into five chapters. There are six annexes attached that are important to grasp the topic in its complexity. The first chapter is devoted to theoretical questions of double taxation. It is concentrated particularly on issues such as legal framework of taxation, the national and international treatment of double taxation from the point of view of the principle of origin, measures to eliminate double taxation by way of national unilateral measures or international Double Tax Conventions. The end of the chapter presents examples of national double taxation in the Czech Republic. The rest of the thesis discusses international double taxation. 20th century haiku in English

For a reader or author residing in the West, the haiku journal scene is, owing to the Internet and to the many published printed journals, abundantly rich, and from the research we have done, we see that there is also a large number of authors in the English-speaking world who submit to these journals. The Internet also offers the option of blogspots, which some authors make use of; scholarly articles on haiku are readily accessible through journals and through other web pages. This situation allows for a dialogue, where the judgment about a haiku's quality is never simple. In the conclusion to this paper, we will sum up what we consider to be the important features of haiku, and we will discuss the prose-poetry dichotomy, as it seems to have relevance for haiku. The Japanese tradition still plays a crucial role in shaping modern haiku, as can be seen in the issues of Shamrock and elsewhere; there is a clear awareness, in the haiku community, that English is a different medium, with its rhythm and sound specifics, and that the same applies for other languages.

The Civic forum in the process of creation of Czech party system

The Abstract This thesis deals with the process of creation, development and the downfall of the Civic Forum. This process is herewith included to the wider frame of the process of formation of the Czech party system. The Civic Forum represented not only one of the main actor of political development in the first year of transformation, but also the base of creation of some important political parties and movements in the 1990. This thesis is time allowanced by the November 17th, 1989 on one side, and by the end of February, 1991, when the Civic Forum is divided, on the other side. In the first chapter the author deals with the development of Czechoslovak communist regime and the opposition in the years 1987-1989. He follows the change of international political situation of Czechoslovak regime in context of changes in the soviet bloc in the consequence of political and economical reforms in the USSR. The second and most large chapter of this thesis deals with the foundation of Civic Forum and the process of negotiations between representatives of Civic Forum and communist government in November and December of 1989.
