Nerušilová, Hana ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Kučera, Tomáš (referee)
Comparative analysis of cardiovascular mortality in Czechia and Sweden during 1970-2007 Abstract The main aim of this thesis is to describe and compare the development of the level of cardiovascular mortality in Czechia and Sweden during 1970-2007, which is contextualized into the changes of the overall mortality. Within the whole group of circulatory diseases the changes of mortality levels in different groups of circulatory diseases or by certain diagnoses are analysed. The analysis is accompanied with the comparison of cardiovascular mortality levels within the whole Europe. Afterwards the thesis focuses on cardiovascular risk factors and the quality of healthcare in both countries. The analysis concludes that the decline of cardiovascular mortality begun in Czechia ten years later than in Sweden but still sooner than in majority of post-communist countries. The decline was in both countries more evident for acute forms of cardiovascular diseases. The decrease in mortality was mainly attributable to progress in healthcare in Czechia whereas in Sweden it was caused particularly by the positive development of risk factors.

Genetically modified plants in practical applications
Říhová, Barbora ; Fischer, Lukáš (advisor) ; Cvrčková, Fatima (referee)
Genetic engineering (GI) of plants is a very current topic, and more and more controversial, since it is becoming an inseparable part of our lives. GI has, among other things, a great potential to help solve the current problem of hunger and malnutrition in certain parts of the world. The goal of this project is to clarify what genetically modified (GM) plants are, to present the possibilities of their practical use, to explain methods of preparation and to consider their advantages and eventual risks. By GM plant we understand a plant whose genetic information has been changed by introducing or removing part of the genetic information (a section of DNA, generally a gene). The most frequently used methods of transformation are the transformation by Agrobacterium tumefaciens and the balistic method. GM plants can be used for production of food or feed in better quality and greater quantity, thanks to an introduction of higher resistance, whether it is to biotic stress (pest, virus or bacterial resistance) or to abiotic stress (drought, salinity, toxic substance in the ground..). In particular, the resistance to abiotic stress is an important issue these days, since through the climate changes some regions suffer more and more from insufficient precipitation and consequent drought. Some of the GM plants grown...

After that he was a soldier of the AustroHungarian army, where he defrauded money and escaped abroad. Later he came back to Austro-Hungary, and was punished for what he had done. He was a legionnaire in Russia for a while, later became a soldier of the Russian Bolshevik's army. Nevěřilová, Naďa ; Stuchlíková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Němečková, Tereza (referee)
The objective of this bachelor thesis is to evaluate the Millenium Development Goals project -- its procedures and up to now effects. I would like to try to find out if it is truth that activities of UN within this project have no results, eventually I would try to identify a problem and suggest possible solutions. The evaluation of this project is reduced to two of the total number of eight goals and to the region of Sub-Saharan Africa. First part of this work describes a subject-matter and a purpose of this project. It is concerned with theme poverty and with a historical background of rise of problems with poverty in Sub-Saharan countries. Then there are described methods which UN uses for monitoring of reaching the defined goals. Ways of financing an assistance for developing countries are also described. Second part of the work is aimed at the first goal of the project which is: eradicate extreme poverty and hunger. This part begins with adumbration of possible ways and methods of measuring and identifying poverty. Afterwards there is described and evaluated a state and a progress of fulfilling this goal. Perspectives of future progress are also adumbrated. Third part is concerned with the sixth goal of the evaluated project: combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases. After an introduction to the issue, there is also considered a state and a progress of reaching the goal and a possible future progress is presented.

Brehmerová, Martina ; Kalová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Burdová Hradečná, Pavla (referee)
Tématem práce je fenomén nelegální migrace, a to v Česku a Německu, dvou sousedních zemích a členských státech Evropské unie. Konkrétně práce zpracovává debatu o právní úpravě fenoménu nelegální migrace, tedy návrhy a postoje jednotlivých aktérů zapojených do diskuze o stávajících i chybějících právních normách upravujících oblast nelegální migrace v Česku a Německu.
