School of Art Brno
Králík, Ondřej ; Teplý, Vladimír (referee) ; Odvárka, Antonín (advisor) ; Matějka, Libor (advisor)
This work contains technical drawings, architecture proposal and architecture detail of the Art school in Brno. Proposal was taken from my 3rd semester studio work and it was necessary to do some modifications during this work. Final building design is too large, so the main technical drawings were made only for one part. Whole building is solved only in the term of architecture proposal and drawings of situation, basement floorplan and elevations. The new building of the art school in Brno is located in the north-east hillside of Kraví hora near the center of Brno. Shape of the building is based on the idea that park will continue across the whole plot and the school becomes part of it. Main idea of proposal is leaving as much space as possible to surrounding green areas. By placing big part of volume under the ground, school becomes more connected to the park around and it enables students and all the other people to spend some time. Proposal is placed in the plot near to the planetarium to create education complex in the middle of emerging big park area on Kraví hora. Lots of areas such as multifunctional halls, snack bar or exhibition space are placed into one-storey block volume with generous construction height. This block is whole under the ground in the one side and the rest of it is gradually coming up on the terrain. There are 3 other organic shaped objects rising up from this volume. Roof of the main part can be entered from each side, so that park actually continues across this surface without any barriers. Skylights providing light to the bottom hall are also suitable for sitting, so they can be used as benches.

Hejl, Matouš ; RATAJ, Michal (advisor) ; TROJAN, Jan (referee)
The text proposes to describe the relationship between Karlheinz Stockhausen and the work of The Beatles in the late sixties regarding especially their album Sgt. Pepper s Lonely Hearts Club Band. It compares how they worked within the same technnical system and it shows changes that occured in music with the conception of studio as a musical instrument. On a more general level, one theme of the text is the difference between so called serious, or avantgarde music and popular music. Through comparing the way Stockhausen and The Beatles approached a few selected aspects of music making, it presentes them next to each other rather than against each other. Another general theme is the relationship between technical inovation and music creation.

The new building of the Modern Art Gallery in Brno is situated at South side of the hill called Kraví hora, near the city center. The building site is relatively spacious and its location follows on park. Also the whole urban solution concept of the site follows the park idea. The gallery park should serve as an outdoor exhibition space as well as a communication point between two sides of the hill – Náměstí míru and Veveří street. So the main initial points of the design are freedom of movement, passage of nature and to be surrounded by the art. The Modern Art Gallery project consists of the main building and other small buildings used as studios. In the main building of the gallery there is an exhibition place, educational center, library and other services for the visitors. The small studios situated in the garden should be rent to the starting artists. They would have there their hinterland for work and exhibitions, so the public can have personal contact with them. This opening forms a vista through the building and a covered public space as well. The building works with two main views of the city. The first one is through the middle opening in the building and the mass of the building frames it. The second one is from the roof terrace of the building on the Brno dominate – Špilberk castle.
