Riemlová, Simona ; Hrubý, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Gregor, Martin (referee)
The European energy market has experienced a process of rapid change in recent years. The trend of liberalisation and deregulation is shaping in a fundamental way the environment in which energy companies operate. The aim of this paper is to analyse the present situation regarding the European debate on the liberalisation of the energy market. The analysis includes a theoretical excursus on the problem of the natural monopoly in the energy sector, a description of the European requirements for the organisation of the energy market and an account of the experience of the first countries opening their energy sectors. We will base our affirmation that European directive 2003/92/EC leaves sufficient room for each member state to organise its energy market on its own, on the current debate and the experience of two European Union member states, the Czech Republic and France. The culmination of this paper is section six comparing the present state of the liberalisation process in these two countries, the satisfaction of inhabitants with this process and its impact on energy prices. Europeanization of the British Development Policy?: Development Policy of the United Kingdom From the Point of Vien of the Multi-level Governance
Bydžovská, Marie ; Rovná, Lenka (advisor) ; Jelínek, Petr (referee)
This theses analyses the development policy of a member state of the European Union. It examines the development policy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Its development policy is explored through the expectations of the multi-level governance theory. According to this theory the governance in European Union is carried out on several different levels. This applies to european politics, polity and also for policies. And one of the European policies is also development policy. This theses argues that the UK exercises its development policy on several different levels. Its traditional bilateral development policy shows aspects of "path dependency". More than half of its development assistence gives the UK to its former colonies associated in Commonwealth. Along with this traditional bilateral development policy the UK exercises its development policy also on the European level when it tries to influence the European governance. Another level is also the subnational level of the local goverment. Because of the restricted scope of my theses I didn't focus on the local level. Also many players are engaged in the cooperation of the UK and EC development policy. Along with the government and executive, the British Parliament and civil society are engaged in this cooperation. This is in...

Theoretical predictions of the impact of a noisy channel on interpreters' performance in simultaneous interpretation and their empirical verification
Volenová, Eva ; Čeňková, Ivana (advisor) ; Ďoubalová, Jana (referee)
This thesis explores the issue of noise in the simultaneous interpreting process, using the concept of noise as defined in information theory and the model of communication developed by Claude Shannon. The theoretical section of this thesis first offers a brief explanation of the basic concepts involved in information theory, followed by a description of Shannon's model. Selected models of interpreting are then introduced based on this model of communication. A list of potential types of noise is then presented based on the literature examined that may have an impact on the interpreter during simultaneous interpreting. The empirical section of this thesis consists of a questionnaire and an experiment. The questionnaire determines to what extent interpreters find the potential types of noise from the list created in the theoretical section disruptive in their work. The list of types of noise is also expanded based on respondents' answers. The questionnaire also determines what strategies respondents employ to overcome adverse factors. The new types of noise and strategies employed are described in this thesis using open-ended answers from the respondents. The experiment tests the impact of a burst-noise channel on simultaneous interpreting. A total of 13 respondents took part in the experiment,...

Empirical verification of short-run aggregate supply based on Lucas model and new Keynesian theory
Marošová, Ivana ; Potužák, Pavel (advisor) ; Janíčko, Martin (referee)
The aim of the master thesis is to empirically analyze if there is a support for new classics or new Keynesians as a dominant theory of short-run aggregate supply curve. The analysis is based on dynamic panel data model for 38 countries and period between 1970 and 2014. Because the results show some evidence on negative significance of level of inflation in contrast with its variability, I conclude that there is support for the new Keynesian theory. I focus on examination of the panel data assumptions such as the stationarity of explanatory variables, existence of the individual or random effects, validity of homogeneity of slope coefficients and mainly the cross-sectional dependence of error terms. After testing for these assumptions, I choose the most suitable method of estimation for dynamic panel data models. I use these methods for analyzing both linear and non-linear specification of the given model. As a result, we can see that the selection of right estimation method plays a great role in final outcomes. I also check model robustness by including changes of real oil price as a proxy variable for the supply shock in the economy.
