The Specifics of Children Interrogation

Title of thesis: The Specifics of Children Interrogation Keywords: interrogation, child, sexual abuse Summary The thesis deals with specifics typical for interrogation of children, which means persons under eighteen years old. Unlike adults, a child psyche is characterized by many specifics that have to be considered during interrogation as well. The aim of the thesis is to point to basic specifics related to interrogation of children situated in various procedural positions - either in the position of aggrieved, witness or accused. The character of offense, and the part a child has taken in committing it, influences interrogator's approach and overall choice of tactics. Only a properly conducted interrogation can bring enough information useful in pretrial and following trial proceedings. For clarity the thesis is divided into two basic parts, namely the legal part and the criminal psychological part. First Part: Legal Aspects First chapter informs about basic terms I use in the thesis - it determines the terms of a child, a minor, children under fifteen, it points out various concepts of interrogation. Diploma thesis "Behavioral symptoms in sexually abused children, families access and response of social workers" focuses on clarifying the issue of child sexual abuse and its course. The introductory chapters deal with explaining the concept of sexual abuse and the possible occurrence. It characterized by potential victims, offenders and the possible risks. The work focuses on social and psychosomatic manifestations of children who are victims of sexual abuse. It compares the responses of children by age and sex. The important part is the revelation of the incident. Revealed is the most deliverance victim of pathological behavior. The work describes the victim may have reasons for concealing situation, how it reacts family after disclosure. The aim of the diploma thesis is to determine the issue of a child interrogation as a crime victim. The reason for my research is the fact that despite of all the Criminal Procedure amendments the methodology of systematic child interrogation and its real usage is still not properly defined. The thesis is composed of four chapters, each of them dealing with different aspects of sexual abuse of the child's interrogation. Chapter One is introductory and the chapter is subdivided into four parts. Part One and Part Two contain a short historical excursion define sexual abuse terminology and its forms. Part Three deals with Child Abuse and Neglect Syndrome and its five categories. Part Four is concerned with an occurrence of the Sexual abuse phenomenon in the Czech Republic, latency and status of educational institutions. Chapter Two examines relevant Czech legislation and European Union. First and second part characterise a statutory offence in Penal Code. Methods of investigation of sexual crimes (selected issues)

The thesis deals with the topic of sexual offences investigation. Given its complexity, the thesis only focuses on particular issues, namely the special investigation procedure used in the cases of sexual offences committed against children. The thesis aims to provide overview of individual investigation procedures used in those special cases, to point out their advantages and disadvantages, and to explain reasons why sexual offences against children need to be treated differently. The thesis includes fourteen chapters dividend into sub-chapters. In the introductory part, the main of objectives of the thesis are defined; the following first chapter focuses on the term sexual exploitation and describes the legislation on this issue in the Czech Republic. The second chapter outlines typical ways of committing this type of offence; the third and fourth chapters focus on the subjects of sexual offences, both the offender and the victim, and answer the question if there is a typical victim and a typical sexual offender. Diploma thesis "Ethical aspects of reporting in case of child abuse scandal in the Roman Catholic Church" tries to analyze reporting about scandal of pedophilic priests with attention at ethical rules in reporting and attend to ethical mistakes, if they are in. Purpose of this thesis is to compare, how presses MF Dnes, Hospodářské noviny, Blesk and Katolický týdeník inform people. A quantitative and qualitative content analysis was chosen as a method of this work.

Methodology of investigation of sexual offences Key words: child abuse, investigation, examination Summary This diploma thesis deals with issues in investigation of sexual crimes, particularly child sexual abuse. Sexual criminality is a very extensive topic, so I decided to aim the thesis for specifics of investigation related to abused children. The aim of the work is to characterise investigation regarding specifics typical for sexual offences. There is difference between adult and child victims. This must be considered in the process of investigation. Each person taking part in investigation should have achieved at least basic course in psychology. It is necessary to apply considerate approach to restrain from secondary victimization. The first chapter describes the term of sexual abuse, fundamental definitions and forms. Current legal regulations in the Czech Republic are analyzed there. The second part is devoted to criminological characteristics. This chapter is about offenders, victims and typical ways of commission. I compare the situation in which the perpetrator comes from the family with the situation of the perpetrator out of the family. Graphs based on police statistics serve for illustration.
