One child policy in China and its consequences
Šindelářová, Dagmar ; Munková, Gabriela (advisor) ; Kotrusová, Miriam (referee)
The objective of this bachelor thesis is to inform about development and the present form of the one child policy in China and about its consequences and to evaluate the potential of this policy in the future. It describes former forms of population policies and the circumstances and the reasons for the introduction of the policy. It identifies the targets of the one child policy, its program, the measures and the ways to exact the policy. Special attention is given to the results and the consequences of the one child policy. It examines the influence of the policy on the course of the national growth rate, the birth rate and the fertility rate and it mentions several positive consequences of the policy. It deals minutely with the problems that the policy caused or at least worsened - the ageing problem, the enlargement of the ratio between men and women, the discrimination, the differences between urban and rural areas, breaking of human rights and the problem with "little emperors". At the end it evaluates the potential of the policy for the future. It states that it is possible and covetable to cancel or at least lighten the one child policy. Although the Chinese government reject this step it is probable that growing ageing problems caused the adjustments or cancelling of the policy.

Tumor microenvironment: Cancer-associated fibroblasts and their biological function in tumors derived from squamous epithelium
Nedvědová, Tereza ; Kodet, Ondřej (advisor) ; Brábek, Jan (referee)
The incidence of carcinomas originating from squamous cell epithelium increases with population ageing as well as in younger people. The treatment is demanding for both the patient and whole health system. For the successful therapy, there is a need to understand the development and spreading of the tumor to target them specifically. Tumors consist of tumor stroma and malignant cells. Cancer cells are organized in a hierarchic order and the major problem are cancer stem cells. Adult stem cells are defined as cells with the capacity to self-renew as well as the ability to generate differentiated cells within the tumor. Resistance to targeted therapy can improve survival of these cells and is responsible for cancer relapse. Tumor stroma constitutes another important part of tumor. It is composed of non-cancer cells and extracellular matrix and has become recognized as a major factor in cancer growth and metastation. The stroma includes vascular and immune cells and especially cancer associated fibroblasts (CAFs). These cells are not malignant per se, nevertheless their role in supporting cancer growth and survival is important, so they have become an attractive target for treatment. There are several hypotheses made to explain the origin of CAFs. The question is whether the origin of all CAFs in one...

First sacred speech of Aellios Aristeides: introduction, translation and commentary
Lišková, Markéta ; Fischerová, Sylva (advisor) ; Dostálová, Růžena (referee)
Cílem této diplomové práce je představit českému čtenáři zvláštní a poměrně neznámý spis slavného pozdně antického řečníka Ailia Aristeida - Hieroi Logoi. Osobní styl výpovědi a líčení nejrůznějších životních starostí, pocitů, událostí, setkání apod. Hieroi Logoi...
