Creation of disco dance choreographies
Annotation The aim of this bachelor thesis is to provide a work summarising both the theory and practice of the choreography of rock and roll dance routines, which could be used as a guidebook for a beginner trainer-choreograph. To achieve this aim the thesis is written in two main sections. A theoretical part describes the historical development of Disco Dance choreography right up until contemporary competitions. The second section provides an analysis of two selected choreographies. Finally the author concludes in providing a comparison by way of video analysis, in light of the knowledge gained from the theory of the choreographies.

The Human Voice in Selected Examples of Works by Arnold Schönberg
Švarcová, Terezie ; RATAJ, Michal (advisor) ; DUŠEK, Jan (referee)
The human voice holds a significant position in works of Arnold Schönberg. My dissertation focuses on the use of a voice technique, the so-called Sprechstimme (Spoken-voice) in the musical piece Pierrot Lunaire, op. 21 (1912). I confront the term Sprechstimme with the term Sprechgesang (Spoken-singing) in the very opening of my study. In addition, Schönberg's use of human voice in the pieces written before Pierrot, are briefly mentioned. I am peripherally exploring the other melodramas written by Schönberg, namely Ode to Napoleon Buonaparte, op. 41 (1942) and A Survivor from Warsaw, op. 46 (1947) at the conclusion of this dissertation. I am clarifying why the author has chosen this type of voice technique and also where it is used in musical and aesthetical contexts. I explain the term Sprechmelodie (Spoken-melody) in the area of analysis and focus on the composer's approach to the text material in the ambit of rhythmical component, articulation, dynamics, agogic and the verbal directions for the narrator. Sprechstimme represents one of two fundamental composers approaches towards the human voice and becomes some sort of parallel to the purely vocal composition attitude during the composition time.

Psychology of love letters
Kuldová, Michaela ; Klusák, Miroslav (referee) ; Kučera, Miloš (advisor)
The thesis deals with love letters. They are approached from the point of relationship problems, communication pragmatics, and aesthetic literary writing. It is supposed that letters mediate contact between physically absent partners. Writers present solution of interpersonal questions in their letters, they think about their characters, abilities and appearance, they develop ideas about a partner. A feedback from a partner enables own self-cognition as well. Self-cognition manifests itself by means of stylization of a writer in letters. Stylization can be idealized in an effort to interest a partner at first. Hereafter, it enables sincerity and openness in an intimate relationship. Writers use a certain procedures or steps in order to achieve their intentions. These procedures are called communicative strategies and they manifest itself in the final version of a letter. Love letters are instrumental in creation of a relationship. Thus, they are written with the intention to please, endear, influence a partner, and eventually influence his/her attitudes. Therefore, writers attract attention to them and display themselves in the best way. They act on the basis of their own ideas concerning what could interest a partner and what is their stylization focused on. When considering a letter as a literary...

Extension development for CMS Joomla!
Vojíř, Stanislav ; Nemrava, Jan (advisor) ; Kliegr, Tomáš (referee)
Writing of analytical reports in natural language is important, but not very simple. At this time, most of analytical reports are written in Microsoft Word and saved as classical files. The object of this bachelor thesis is the change to simpler writing of analytical reports in online application CMS Joomla!. To this functionality, we use some extensions of CMS Joomla!. After demands definition, we use an exitor-xtd plug-in and a component for CMS Joomla! 1.5. Using extensions, which were written in this thesis, authors of analytical reports are able to select part of dates from data mining application and insert this part to edited analytical report. The data source for including is xHTML presentation of data from data mining application. In this bachelor thesis, there are described information about dividing of xHTML document, part selection and including to the edited text. The secondary functionality of build extensions is updating of included blocks in selected analytical report. Users can select finished analytical report and update the included blocks with newer data. At the University of Economics, Prague, all students of informatics learn about fundamental data mining in the subject 4iz210 - Information and Knowledge Processing. In this subject, the students will use CMS Joomla! with extensions from this bachelor thesis. The start-up mounting will be at the end of summer semester in academically year 2008-2009. This bachelor thesis could be used as inspiration for extension development for CMS Joomla!, too.

"The victim of one's victim" The process of victimization in William Faulkner's The sound and the fury
Novotná, Ema ; Nováková, Soňa (referee) ; Ulmanová, Hana (advisor)
William Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury was written eighty years ago but is still considered a unique and a remarkable novel. It was published in the "annus mirabilis" (Andrews 251), i.e. the miraculous year of 1929, which introduced literary works of authors who changed the world of literature substantially. Ernest Miller Hemingway's war novel A Farewell to Arms influenced other representatives of one literary generation, i.e. the Lost Generation just as Virginia Woolf's A Room of One's Own and Faulkner's essential novel participated in the genesis of a literary movement: Modernism, or American Modernism, respectively. The difficult structure of Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury did not wait for first interpretations - it was discussed and analyzed the moment it reached the hands of critics, university professors and students. Scholars examined the peculiar specifics of Faulkner's style of writing as well as the tangled web of his meticulously constructed characters and his precisely arranged passages and chapters. Various aspects: his use of madness and sanity, his unique concept of time organized according to psychological rather than linear time, a stream of consciousness narrative, warped heroes, "disruptive female characters" (Roberts, XI) - all seen from the perspective of Faulkner's fictitious...

Optimization of recombinant protein expression in HEK293 cell line
Bláha, Jan ; Šácha, Pavel (referee) ; Bezouška, Karel (advisor)
Mammalian cells have become the dominant system for recombinant expression of pharmaceutical proteins. This system is becoming suitable also for structural biology, with the advances in methodology of transient transfection of mammalian cells. This work dealt with optimization of recombinant expression in HEK293T and HEK293-6E cell lines in various media using easily quantifiable markers - secreted alkaline phosphatase (SEAP) and green fluorescent protein (GFP). Emphasis was placed on optimizing key factors behind the creation of transfection complex - the ratio of DNA to polyethyleneimine and the amount of DNA used. The positive influence of histone deacetylases inhibitor valproic acid and also of casein hydrolysate Tryptone N1 was also studied. (The thesis is written in Czech.)
