Intermittent bladder catheterization in paraplegics

The Bachelor's thesis deals with the topic "Intermittent bladder catheterisation in paraplegics". I divided it into a theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part of the thesis concerns the spine physiology, medical consequences and complications of spinal cord lesions, nursing care of paraplegics and quadriplegics, and urology care of patients suffering from spinal cord injuries. Another large topic of the thesis is nursing care, focusing on nursing care of patients using the technique of intermittent catheterisation, the applicable legislation and accredited courses for non-medical staff. The Bachelor's thesis has one main objective and five partial ones. The main objective of the thesis is to ascertain the quality of life of paraplegics with intermittent bladder catheterisation. The partial objectives look into the specific needs of paraplegics with intermittent bladder catheterisation in five areas. The first two areas concern their nutritive and health care needs, and excretion needs. Another objective looks into the particularity of sleeping needs, resting needs, and the importance of active movement and exercise. Possibilities of using aquatic therapy for patients after spinal cord injury

The thesis deals with patients after spinal cord injury (SCI) focused on their health problems and possibilities of using aquatic therapy, that can participate in the program of comprehensive rehabilitation. General section summarizes the classification of patients after SCI, the properties of the aquatic environment and the physiological reactions of the organism in the aquatic environment. It also focuses on the issue of sitting of paraplegics and current methods of assessment in clinical practice. The special part contains a case of a patient after SCI at the level of Th8-Th10, an example of a therapeutic unit in the pool aimed at improving the quality of sitting. The use of full face mask in scuba diving physically handicapped for interruption of the spinal cord

Title: The use of full face mask in scuba diving physically handicapped for interruption of the spinal cord. Objectives: The aim is to find out if it is possible to use a full face mask during assisted scuba handicapped with the interruption of the spinal cord and to what extent these masks have a positive impact on the safety of scuba diving with an assistant so affected. Methods: Since that the full face masks are used in that way first, was chosen the method experiment in a protected environment with limited water depth of 4 metres. For finding out of contribution in field security then the method of uncontrolled interviews with experts after the experiment itself and of form the test with physically disabled and experts were detected additional information. Results: Full face masks during assisted scuba handicapped with the interruption of the spinal cord can be advantageously used and in the test group had a significant effect on the safety of scuba diving with an assistant so affected. The evaluation of functional sitting stability of paraplegics

Title: The evaluation of functional sitting stability of paraplegics Objectives: The aim of this work is to evaluate the functional stability of paraplegics sitting through tests. Another objective is to determine what is the effect of fourteen days rehabilitation intervention on the sitting patients. Methods: Designed experiment was processed by the form of quantitative research. There were 10 pacients with spinal cord injuries, especially paraplegics included - 5 men and 5 women. The history was detected with the main emphasis on assessment ASIA score. Measurement of unsupported upright sitting was done thanks to the Plantograf V09. It records the current pressure distribution and movement of the center of pressure (COP). Functional T - shirt test was evaluated by using a stopwatch. Probands responded two questions about their current condition after rehabilitation after the output measuring. The therapist rating was included in the results. All data were further processed in Microsoft Office Excel 2007. Results: Measurements confirmed the reliability of both used tests. The t-shirt test can be used as an objective method of assessing functional stability of sitting. Test of unsupported upright sitting measured by Plantografu is also usable. Partnership of persons after a spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury

This bachelor thesis aims to provide an insight into the current situation regarding the people suffering from brain damage or spinal cord injury and the impact of such disability on their partner life. The main focus of the study is to highlight the patient's problems connected with partner life, summary of the occupational therapy intervention possibilities for patients and the evaluation of tool portfolio designed to provide a positive utility in partner life. In addition, the theoretical part discusses the insight of both patients and experts on the basic problems in partner life based on the various stage and form of disability as well as the description of therapeutic tools created to help with these disabilities. The research part is devoted to the interviews with patients who suffer from spinal cord injury or brain damage and address their difficulties from the perspective of occupational therapists. Nursing care about handicapped patiens in hospitál and home

Bachlor thesis "Nursing care about handicapped patients in hospital and home" deals with the care of clients / patients with transverse spinal lesions in the thoracic and lumbarspine, ie clients patients with paraplegia. The theoretical part presents basic information and description of traumatic spinal cord injury. It is in this part of the work prepared nursing patient care paraplegia. The practical part is processed on the basis of our survey, in which she was approached by a group of handicapped clients with paraplegia, a group of nursesand a group of family members caring for disabled clients with paraplegia. This investigation was aimed at obtaining the perspective of these three target groups of respondents to the demands of caring for a disabled client with paraplegia and an overview of activities in which handicapped client needs assistance.
