Carbon footprint of computers in the computer class at VSE
Kovařík, Lukáš ; Gála, Libor (advisor) ; Basl, Josef (referee)
This bachelor's thesis is about carbon footprint. It looks into assessing of carbon footprint. Theoretical knowledge is applied afterwards in a case study. Main goal is assessing of carbon footprint of computers that are located in computer class. The first part is about definition of carbon footprint. Then there are presented three different points of view of carbon footprinting. There is a part focused on software solutions that helps companies monitor their carbon footprint as well. Second part of this thesis includes the case study that is focused on assessing of carbon footprint in the area of information and communications technology. There is an analysis of activities and processes that computers in class are involved into. Then the consumption of electric energy is measured. On its basis the size of carbon footprint is calculated. The result offers the estimation of University of Economics' size of carbon footprint that is suitable indicator in the context of environment protection.

Neonatal Hearing Screening in České Budějovice, a six years experience
STŘECHOVÁ, Daniela
Hearing, like vision, is one of the most important human senses. Every child coming into this world is endowed with senses with the aid of which it learn to perceive stimuli and gradually comprehend their meaning. A child born with hearing impairment is deprived, wholly or partly, of the part of the spectrum of life experiences that derive from audial stimuli. This drawback in the ability to perceive and understand sounds around him affect the child{\crq}s development, especially in terms of verbal and speech development, and psychosocial aptitude. It is therefore necessary to diagnose hearing impairment as early as possible, so that it could be compensated by means of hearing aids or, in more severe cases, cochlear implants. For this reason, screening of newborn babies for hearing impairment plays a significant role. In the Czech Republic, there is no such screening conducted on national level with all newborns {--} only with risk-prone babies. The examination is done using TEOAE (transiently evoked otoacoustic emissions).

Possibilities of remote sensing in grassland vegetation and management interventions monitoring in the Giant Mountains
Pomahačová, Michaela ; Kupková, Lucie (advisor) ; Hais, Martin (referee)
Possibilities of remote sensing in grassland vegetation and management interventions monitoring in the Giant Mountains Abstract The aim of this thesis was to evaluate suitability of WorldView-2 imagery for grassland associations classification in the model area of Giant Mountains. The classification was based both on the legend compiled by a botanist, and on the legend of Natura 2000. In order to eliminate the effects of other types of land cover on the classification accuracy, a mask of grasslands was created. Using discriminant analysis, the significance of spectral bands of WorldView-2, as well as signifikance of selected vegetation indices and components from Principal Component Analysis (PCA) - to distinguish particular classes of grassland vegetation were evaluated. Based on the results of discriminant analysis, classifications using neural networks method and also maximum likelihood method were performed in ENVI 4.7 version software. The results of the both method were compared Key words: remote sensing, meadows association, classification, Giant mountains, WorldView 2

Land cover changes in Bohemian Switzerland using remote sensing data
Lihanová, Kristýna ; Štych, Přemysl (advisor) ; Součková, Jana (referee)
Land cover changes in Bohemian Switzerland using remote sensing data Abstract The purpose of this project was to classify land cover in The National Park Bohemian Schwitzerland from LAMDSAT data (1999, 2002, 2009), FORMOSAT data (2006) and QuickBird data (2009). Data used in this paper are described in details. The method used for images classification was method of unsupervised classification in Geomatica program. Created classes were merged into the final five classes. An Assessment of accuracy of classification showed that results don't reflect reality. Mixed forests are the biggest problem because they can be mistaken for coniferous or deciduous forests. Classification results were smoothed low pass filer and converted into a vector formats in ArcGIS program. For the years 2006 and 2009 was counted the vegetation indexes NDVI and LAI. Results showed that the densest vegetation is in deciduous forests. Changes in land cover were assessed in two ways. Shares of each class were calculated for all years. Overlays layers are created in ArcGIS. Overlap was conducted between 1999 and 2002 and between 1999 and 2009. Most changes were found between the coniferous and mixed forests. These changes are caused by the inaccuracies in classification. Key words: land cover, Bohemian Switzerland, forest, Landsat,...

Title: NP search problems Author: Tomáš Jirotka Department: Department of Algebra Supervisor: Prof. RNDr. Jan Krajíček, DrSc. Abstract: The thesis summarizes known results in the field of NP search pro- blems. We discuss the complexity of integer factoring in detail, and we propose new results which place the problem in known classes and aim to separate it from PLS in some sense. Furthermore, we define several new search problems. Keywords: Computational complexity, TFNP, integer factorization. 1

Set-theoretic Methods in the Theory of Modules
Šaroch, Jan ; Trlifaj, Jan (advisor) ; Příhoda, Pavel (referee) ; Struengmann, Lutz (referee)
The thesis collects my actual contributions to the theory of cotorsion pairs, with closer attention paid to the application of set-theoretic methods in this area. It consists of an introduction and three papers with coauthors. The first two, already published, deal with the so-called Telescope Conjecture for Module Categories. We prove here, for instance, that a hereditary cotorsion pair (A, B) with the class B closed under direct limits is generated by a set of countably presented modules. Moreover, if the class A is closed under direct limits too, then the pair (A, B) is cogenerated by a set of indecomposable pure-injective modules. In the third paper, we deal with the cotorsion pairs which provide us with non-trivial examples of abstract elementary classes (in the sense of Shelah). Then we study the class D of all 1-projective modules, proving e.g. that-regardless of the ring-it always forms a Kaplansky class.

Speed of Convergence to Equilibrium of Zero Range Process on a Binary Tree
Fajfrová, Lucie
Let us consider the zero range process with the symmetric random walk on a binary tree as the single particle law. The paper bring out an estimate of a rate of convergence of this process to equilibrium in the following sense. We find a lower bound of a spectral gap of finite volume processes. We distinguish two classes of speed function.

The motive of hospitality in Old French romances of XIIth century
Špatenková, Lucie ; Voldřichová - Beránková, Eva (advisor) ; Jamek, Václav (referee)
This work aims at describing the motive of hospitality and to show the deeper sense of rituals, which come along with it. The starting point is the motive of the journey, understood in this context not on ly as a movement in real time and space but also as the endeavor of a man to understand the world. The Old French lais show voyage in the Other World as their only motive. The hero leaves the world of humans to follow his fairy mistress into her realm, often associated with the realm of the dead. The hero, being chosen by the fairy is thus elevated to immortality. The Old French romances offer a more complicated scheme. The voyage is understood as a sequence ofvarious adventures and tasks the hero has to accomplish. The motives of hospitality show a larger scale than in the lais. Besides hospitality offered by beings from the other world who test the heroes constancy and fidelity as well as other chivalric qualities. Hospitality offered by human hosts show s relations between different classes of society. We witness the fraternity of the knights as well as subordination of townspeople. This picture, however, does not show the reality of the medieval society but the dream of the nobility of how the society should function. In reality towns gained more and more independence while the typical knights errant,...

Land cover changes in District Nachod using remote sensing data
Červená, Lucie ; Kupková, Lucie (referee) ; Štych, Přemysl (advisor)
Land cover changes in District Nachod using remote sensing data Abstract The purpose of this project was to create a classification of the land cover of Náchod district for years 1979, 1991 and 2001 based on multi-spectral images gained from publicly available archive images database provided by Landsat satellites. Data used in this paper are described in details. The created classification system is based on CORINE Land Cover and adjusted to a measured area and data available. The method used for images classification was method of supervised classification in PCI Geomatics program and classification algorithm of Maximum Likelihood Classification. The result was smoothed by majority filter and converted to the vector form. Accuracy of the classification was evaluated in details, based on the check points. Overall accuracy was quite low (2001 - 82 %, 1991 - 74 %, 1979 - 67 %), depending on the quality (mainly spectral and spatial resolution) of the images and also availability of other reference data. Land cover changes for the whole time period were therefore evaluated using just the balance method (i.e. overall classes distributions in district were compared between separate years). For years 1991 and 2001 it was also tried to overlap their final vector land cover layouts, however target Change areas in...

An Analysis of Francis Fukuyama's Arguments Exemplified on Contemporary Dystopian Cultural Production
Šinaľ, Martin ; Veselá, Pavla (advisor) ; Roraback, Erik Sherman (referee)
In this thesis I analyze and problematize Francis Fukuyama's position on posthumanism, largely expressed in his 2002 book Our Posthuman Future. In it he warns against the likely negative outcome of a potential biotechnological revolution, which could enable easy access to interfering with human genome via practices such as genetic modification or human cloning. Fukuyama's major assumption is that all members of society must meet some limited standards of humanity in order to be equal, because if people acquire different levels of artificially altered "human natures," the outcome will be stratification, irrecuperable inequality and perhaps even class warfare. For this reason, Fukuyama calls for a pre-emptive regulation of genetic manipulation so as to avoid a "posthuman future." I contrast this theory with a selection of transhumanist and feminist theorists as well as with examples from fiction, namely the trilogy Lilith's Brood (1987-1989) by Octavia Butler and the novel Never Let Me Go (2005) by Kazuo Ishiguro. Drawing on these sources I conclude that Fukuyama's position is harmfully exclusionary and divisive; and also counter- productive in the sense that in his pursuit of securing freedom and equality he renders potential posthuman subjects fundamentally inferior, thus principally defeating his...
