Donepezil ? biological activity nad evaluation of its efficiency.
Drábková, Markéta ; Pourová, Jana (referee) ; Herink, Josef (advisor)
1 Summary Title: Donepezil - biological activity and evaluation of its efficiency Author: Markéta Drábková Supervisor: Doc. MUDr. Josef Herink, DrSc. Department: Department of biological and medicinal sciences Cognitive enhancers are drugs which preferentially affect cholinergic transmission in the central nervous system. The cholinergic system in the brain is the most seriously damaged neurotransmitter system in Alzheimer, s disease and dementia with Lewy bodies. Donepezil is a new cognitive enhancer whose mechanism of action consists of reversible specific inhibition of acetylcholinesterase activity. Donepezil increases the amount of acetylcholine available for neuron-to-neuron communication, which may relieve some memory impairment and thus prolonging of patients' self-support. Present thesis classifies cognitive enhancers, it especially describes the mechanism of action and effect of donepezil and its therapeutical usage. The principal aim of my work was to assess and evaluate the efficacy and adverse effects of donepezil from chosen clinical studies in the years 2003- 2009. The results support the conclusion that donepezil is safe and effective for long-term treatment of patients with mild or moderate Alzheimer's dementia, vascular dementia, mild cognitive impairment and multiple sclerosis. Virtual democracy: information technology, modern society and digitized elections
Sál, Karel ; Jüptner, Petr (advisor) ; Novák, Miroslav (referee)
The thesis "Virtual Democracy: Information Technology, Modern Society and Digitized Elections" has the ambition of approaching the theoretical debate of the relatively new koncept of e-democracy. New technologies in combination with modern society have great potencial in changing the political space not only as a medium, but also the character of the actors of the process. In the first plan the thesis deals with the practical usage of electronic devises on the basis of new technologies in the area of voting egality, knowledgeable understanding, control of agenda setting and efficient participation. In the second plan it deals with the main circumstances for the implementation of new technologies, and in the end examinates the normative dimension of these new technologies in enduring or weakening of democracy. Due to the fact, that the topic of new technologies in democracy lies between today and the future, the thesis occupies itself also by the expectations of their impact on the future of politics. An indivisible part of virtual democracy is the poll digitalization, who's form and role will be also a part of the thesis's preoccupation. Keywords elections, democracy, e-democracy, digitalizacion, information technology, virtual democracy

Transport and traffic literacy in the tourist trade in the Tábor region
SEDLÁČEK, Lukáš
This diploma thesis focuses on the problems of transport and traffic literacy. The first part includes the analysis of the current state of transport services and of the traffic literacy in the Tábor region. In this part a field research was done on the basis of survey among the inhabitants of Tábor. The results of the field research were summarized and analyzed in the synthetic part of the diploma thesis. The results of this field survey imply that both the public transport and the traffic literacy in Tábor are on good level. This part also includes a study of practicability for implementation of trolley-bus transport in Tábor. The implementation of this transport in the route Tábor {--} Sezimovo Ústí {--} Planá nad Lužnicí would require an investment in an amount of circa 400 million crowns, however, indisputable benefit would be a decrease of emissions and acoustic noise in the town. In the conclusion, several suggestions for improvement of the current state are presented, whose aim was the improvement of the transport services and the overall transport potential in the Tábor region.

Evaluation of Body Composition of Soccer Players
Tvaroh, Miroslav ; Štochl, Jan (advisor) ; Chytráčková, Jitka (referee)
Název: Hodnocení tělesného složení hráčů fotbalu. Title: Evaluation of body composition of soccer players.

PNF technique after arthroscopic stabilization of the shoulder
Benešová, Martina ; Holubářová, Jiřina (advisor) ; Pavlů, Dagmar (referee)
Title: PNF technique after arthroscopic stabilization of the shoulder joint Objectives: The objective of this work is to consider the possibility of use of the proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation technique (PNF) in early stages of rehabilitation after arthroscopic stabilization of the shoulder joint. The idea is to use the phenomen of irradiation with which this concept works. Methods: The pilot experimental group consisted of 7 healthy participants with simulated arthroscopic stabilization of the left shoulder joint. The electromyography was used to record the electric activity of musculus trapezius pars descendens, pars transversa et pars ascendens, musculus deltoideus pars acromialis, musculus infraspinatus and musculus pectoralis major pars sternocostalis on the immobilized left arm; while using the PNF technique on the peripheral parts of the immobilised arm; and on the contra lateral arm. A 5s sequence of stabilised isometric contraction was analysed and all data further normalised to Maximal Voluntary Contraction (MVC). Considering the literature the 20% increase above the MVC was defined as substantial to assure sufficient functional capacity of the muscle fibres and therefore sufficient to stop muscle atrophy during immobilisation of the arm. Results: Results of this study support...

The therapeutic benefit of the repetetive transcranial magnetic stimulation on the specific symptoms of schizophrenia
Novák, Tomáš ; Horáček, Jiří (advisor) ; Vymazal, Josef (referee) ; Rektorová, Irena (referee)
The therapeutic benefit of the repetetive transcranial magnetic stimulation on the specific symptoms of schizophrenia Tomas NOVAK Prague Psychiatric Center Summary Transcranial magnetic stimulation is the modern non-invasive method based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. The TMS is widely used in research, diagnostics and treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders. Previous studies imply that repetetive TMS (rTMS) might be useful also in the treatment of some specific symptoms of schizophrenia. The thesis consists of three studies focused on the evaluation of the therapeutic effect of rTMS on specific symptoms of schizophrenia, particularly on negative symptoms and auditory hallucinations. Study 1. The double-blind sham-controlled study of high-frequency rTMS (20Hz) for negative symptoms in schizophrenia The high-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (HF-rTMS) over the prefrontal cortex is a promising method for the treatment of negative symptoms of schizophrenia. Using double-blind, sham- controlled, parallel design, we evaluated the effect of HF-rTMS over the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) on negative symptoms in patients with schizophrenia. Sixteen schizophrenia patients with predominantly negative symptoms on stable antipsychotic medication were treated with 20Hz...

STR genotyping of Czech medieval population: archeologocal site in Mlekojedy (Litoměřice)
Brynychová, Veronika ; Hájek, Martin (advisor) ; Šimková, Halina (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis was the initial genetic analysis of early mediaeval burial site from Mlekojedy polycultural locality (Litoměřice District, Czech Republic). Autosomal STR markers were chosen because of the following reasons. The high degree of polymorphism of these markers and the high extent of heterozygosity favor the use of STRs instead of mitochondrial DNA for the structural analysis of small populations. Usefulness of STR typing for validation purposes was demonstrated many times before. We used primers for miniSTRs to obtain the fullest results. Nuclear DNA was extracted from 35 % of bone samples and 91 % of teeth. We detected lower PCR amplification success rate of fragments longer than 150 bp and very high rate of allele drop-out which is sign of degraded DNA. Twelve reliable genotypes were determined for TH01 marker. Observed allele frequency and genetic diversity values were discussed in comparison with recent populations and other aDNA studies of burial sites. Keywords: ancient DNA, STR markers, miniSTR, early medieval burial site, Czech population
