Diagnosis and treatment of the injuries to the permanent teeth
Hecová, Hana ; Kilian, Jan (advisor) ; Nováková, Květoslava (referee) ; Gojišová, Eva (referee)
Injuries of the permanent teeth represent extensive and serious problems of dentistry. With the exception of the hard dental tissues, gingiva, periodoncium, dental pulp and alveolar bone are offen affected. The healing of injured teeth depends upon different factors, such as the stage of root development, the presence of bacterial infection in oral cavity and the possible penetration of bacteria or their toxins through the dentinal wall. These factors as well as incorrect treatment can cause posttraumatic complication, which appear immediately after dental trauma or up to several years lato. In this study the evaluation of 384 patients with injuries of the permanent teeth was performed. All these patients were treated in the Dentistry Department of the Faculty Hospital in Pilsen. The aim of the clinical part of the study was the analysis of the epidemiologic data and of the occurrence of posttraumatic consequences in every group of dental injuries. The investigated dates were compared with the dates in the literature. The relation between patient' age, stage of root development, treatment of dental trauma and occurrences of posttraumatic complications has been investigated. The main findings of this study agree with the data in the literature. Dental injuries occur more frequently in children at the...

Ways to an effective learning process of the French language as a second foreing language
Zahradníková, Jiřina ; Fenclová, Marie (advisor) ; Hlavičková, Vlasta (referee) ; Horová, Helena (referee)
The possibilities of an effective learning process of the French language as a second foreign language in the non-university higher education are connected with the use of a wide range of learning strategies. When learning the second foreign language, the students transfer the strategies that they acquired during the study of the first foreign language at the secondary school. These mostly cognitive strategies are considered by the students as the only way for acquiring language knowledge and skills. Depending on the age, the objective conditions and subjective motivation, their learning strategies change. They can overcome the obstacles in the study of the second foreign language by means of focusing on the conscious use of metacognitive and social - affective strategies. An explicit approach by the teacher and a conscious application of the strategies by students can make the teaching of the second foreign language more effective, can strengthen the students' autonomy in the learning process and prepare them for an independent lifelong learning for their personal and professional needs.

Diploma Thesis The Teacher's personality in Addictology is divided into two parts. The theoretical part describes in detail Addictology as a science researching causes and consequences of dependences; it specifies college education in the field in this country and abroad. It characterises the teacher's professional skills and graduate's competences. It deals with evaluation of quality of education in this country and abroad. The research part consists of comparison of students' and alumni's opinions on their choice in study as well as their views on quality of education, and compares the teacher's personal characteristics as seen by students, alumni and teachers.

The Latin-Czech dictionary of Clementinum (general characteristics, verb translation analysis, edition)
Voleková, Kateřina ; Andrlová Fidlerová, Alena (referee) ; Kučera, Karel (advisor)
The Latin-Czech dictionary of Clementinum is presented in this study as a medieval work, on which creation participate two main ways of medieval literary production, imitatio and aemulatio (imitation and competition). These two ways show themselves above all in the structure of the dictionary, which is characterised by the following features: combining partial glossaries, ordered both by subject and in alphabetical order; the way of handling its sources; the dependence on its models; the method of translation. Apart from the general characteristics of the text, this study analyses the translation of the verbs in the verbal part of the dictionary, concentrating mainly on loans, calques and hapax legomena. It also includes an edition of the dictionary.

Integration of disabled students at Charles University in Prague since 1989
Maršálek, Michal ; Kodymová, Pavla (advisor) ; Šiklová, Jiřina (referee)
Although the situation of disabled students at universities is generally improving, the social integration of these students is still difficult in quite a number of cases. This thesis is based on the premise that one of the most important conditions of a full and fruitful experience of student life is that students should be well-informed. In view of the advantages of modern information technologies (speed, accessibility, low cost) more and more information is being conveyed via electronic media. Students are expected to take an active approach to obtaining information from these media, but as with other forms of mass diffusion of information, here too there is a risk that specific information for minority groups, including disabled students, will be overlooked. Furthermore, physical disability represents a constraint on students that makes them particularly dependent on prompt, accessible and correct information. The integration of disabled students into the university is conditioned by the creation of equal opportunities for study and other activities that are part of university life. Information provided to disabled students ought therefore to relate to the services and activities that lead to creation of these equal opportunities. This thesis focuses on university students with hearing, visual and motor...

Using Projects to Motivate Students in Mathematics
Složilová, Šárka ; Kubínová, Marie (advisor) ; Dvořák, Petr (referee)
This diploma thesis aims to show the possible use of project teaching in order to motivate pupils to study mathematics. The thesis is interspersed with author's self-reflections which came up during her study of motivation questions, project teaching and above all, the construction of projects. The content is divided into five parts. The first of them follows the author's motivation to write this thesis. Second chapter is theoretical; it is concerned with the psychological and didactical point of view on pupils' motivation to study. Third chapter deals with projects. In this chapter, a development of the project method is described, the basic notions are defined, the applicability of projects is analysed from the point of view of new approaches to motivate pupils and the project teaching is characterised as a specific educational theory. The fourth chapter contains a general description of planning and construction of projects in mathematics, an analysis of author's primary projects in comparison with her new knowledge and a new project creation detailed process. Fifth chapter gives information about the Czech education reforms, about the fundamental themes of RVP ZV (General educational programme for elementary school) and about the use of project teaching in school educational programmes. STM study of adsorption of metals on the Si(111) 7x7 surface
Setvín, Martin ; Ošťádal, Ivan (advisor) ; Nehasil, Václav (referee)
The work is focused on studying of a single silver adatom hopping inside a half unit cell of Si(111)-7×7 reconstruction. It is possible to estimate activation energies and frequency prefactors for hops between particular adsorption sites. It was necessary to make fundamental modifications on a low temperature STM as a part of the work. The modificaations have been made on top of a sample cooling system and on inertial motor for coarse approach of the sample to a tip. The vacuum properties of the STM chamber have been improved. A considerable progress in technology of electrochemically etched tungsten tip preparation has been achieved. Further treatement of the tips has been studied with accent on field emission effect on the tip apex. The 7×7 reconstruction could not be prepared inside the vacuum chamber. Reason is probably a poor degassing of the sample. Further planned experiments could not be performed so far. This thesis contains detailed theoretical analysis of the studying of adsorption sites. The tests of time dependent tunelling spectroscopy method are described in results.

Crossplatform user interface API for C/C++
Meluzín, Vojtěch ; Dokulil, Jiří (referee) ; Zavoral, Filip (advisor)
The goal of MWindows project is creation of a crossplatform graphical user interface toolkit for C++ language, hence it is designated for performance dependent applications. The toolkit has to hide target platform speci cs, provide superstandard features such as general styling on a plugin basis, automatic control placement, data sharing, language translation etc. Lowlevel characteristics have to guarantee portability even to platforms without internal window system, e.g. 3D graphical modes. Finally there is a need for general platform-independent way to build particular programs with as easy way to access application data (such as images or translation databases) as possible.
