The Cognitive and Didactic Potential of Fantasy Literature

Práce se pokusila dokázat kognitivní a didaktický potenciál fantasy literatury. Nejprve na podkladu vývojové psychologie ukázala význam fantazie v lidském životě. Poté se zaměřila na spojitost fantazie a vyprávění - na zdůraznění role příběhů v lidském životě a v poznání člověka. Za kořeny fantasy označila mj. pohádku a mýtus - jednou z hlavních intencí těchto žánrů je formace a informace čtenáře či posluchače. Fantasy do jisté míry dědí dávnou strukturu těchto příběhů a dále ji rozvíjí pro potřeby moderního člověka. Zároveň ovšem díky důrazu na emoce, nadpřirozeno a nepoznanou (nepoznatelnou) součást světa vytváří protiklad vůči rozumově orientované vědecké fantastice. Fantasy naplňuje archetypální potřeby čtenáře - j e h o touhu po spravedlnosti, naději a tradičních hodnotách. Druhá kapitola ukázala nesnadnost vymezení a definice žánru fantasy. Práce se pokusila shrnout dosavadní definice, ukázat jejich výhody i slabiny. Zároveň s tím bylo poukázáno na otevřené hranice žánru a ne vždy jednoznačné vymezení vzhledem k jiným žánrům. Práce vedle sebe položila společné i distinktivní prvky fantasy a dalších fantastických žánrů (sci-fi, horor, kyberpunk). Jako nosnou a pro přesnější koncepci fantasy velmi užitečnou teorii práce představila štrukturalistické pojetí fantasy příběhu podle Johna Cluta. Powered by...

"Moravian" hidden Church

The aim of the text is a description of the causes of creation, functioning and especially activities, of "Moravian" hidden Church. For these purposes 16 interviews were collected using oral history method. These interviews were analyzed through Grounded theory method. As the basic factors affecting the activity of "Moravian" hidden Church the analysis indicated: the degree of openness of activities and measure of their own individual initiative. The thesis consists of five chapters. The introduction presents state of research, described the sources from which it was drawn, it also presented the methodology and definitions based on the methodology. The second chapter introducesthe basic terms fundamental for conceptual point of view. The third chapter describes the context changes and trends within the Catholic Church in the twentieth century, chronologically, of course, it also describes the situation of the Catholic Church in communist Czechoslovakia. The fourth chapter in the first part deals with hidden Church phenomenon in Czech landsand then brings the history, specifics and characteristics of "Moravian" branches, including the integration process. The art and the Eros in the Mario Vargas Llosa's novel Elogio de la madrastra (In praise of the stepmother)

This study, as stated in the title "The art and the eros in the Mario Vargas Llosa's novel Elogio de la madrastra (In Praise of the Stepmother)", is dedicated to the theme of art and eros in the mentioned novel. Fine arts are presented in the novel by six paintings, which are connected with imaginations of the novel heroes. The series of the chapters describing the paintings creates so-called pictorial line. This line blends together with verbal line that is represented by the storyline as such. These two lines create the axis of the first part of this study. The first part analyses the verbal line, outlines the storyline in brief, characteristics of the protagonists and the world surrounding them. It systematically strives to place in the structure of the novel based on the type of the chapters. It doesn't even miss out the hygienic rituals, which don Rigoberto has in favour. Then the pictorial line follows. Firstly, the summary of the paintings is introduced and then the individual subchapters dedicated to every painting are presented. They are lined up according to their appearance in the novel. Every subchapter mentions in the prologue the basic biographical data about the author of the quoted work of art. Tragedy of the Commons

This thesis focuses on the situation known as the Tragedy of the Commons, in which conicting individual and group interests result in overappropriation of a common- pool resource. It examines the setting focusing on theoretical models, combining the approaches of game theory and maximization. It analyzes the e_ects of dif- ferent aspects of the situation, such as game structure, game payoffs, repetitions and individual and group characteristics, first in the setting where no interactions among players are possible, and then in the situation in which players are allowed to communicate and decide on some kind of management of the resource. In accord with many recent studies, this thesis shows that state management of a resource is not the only solution to the dilemma. Moreover, when interactions among players are allowed, users may be able to design their own rules, thus avoiding the `tragic' outcome. Communication and the ability to design sanctioning mechanism is shown to have a major impact on the success of these self-management rules.

Smoking prevalence among high school and university students

Keywords: smoking, nicotine, prevalence, addiction, treatment According to World Health Organization more than 5 million people die every year due to the consequences of smoking. It is estimated that the tobacco epidemic will have as many as 1 billion victims in the 21st century. The aim of the thesis is to chart the prevalence of smoking among high school and university students and to determine the level of addiction among smoking students and the age of their first smoking experience. The research examination was made by using a questionnaire. The results prove the fact that the prevalence of smoking among young people is growing. The risk age of the beginning of the addiction is at the age between 14 and 15. Despite the fact that most respondents are convinced that their chance to get rid of the nicotine addiction is big, only a few of them stopped smoking. Czechoslovak and the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance in the 1950s.

This dissertation is devoted to the Czechoslovakian entry into the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (COMECON) and the consequences of this membership on Czechoslovak economics in the following ten years. The thesis discourses about the reasons for the entry into the COMECON by analysing the postwar economic and political situation as well as the elements Czechoslovakia was expecting from it. The emphasis of this dissertation is on the first two years of the functioning of the COMECON, during which it was revealed to be primarily an instrument of Soviet politics, and which affected the transformation towards the preference for heavy indrustry. The intention of the thesis is to confirm that Czechoslovakia was suiting its economical structure to the needs of the Eastern Bloc, which were pursued through COMECON. The study also focuses on the analysis of changes in COMECON activity and their impact on the Czechoslovak economy over the years. The purpose of the thesis is to review the motives behind the Czechoslovak entry into COMECON along with the consequences COMECON membership had on Czechoslovakia in the first ten years of its existence.

The strategies of partnership, marriage and parenthood education on grammar school

Dissertation thesis deals with the strategies of education for partnership, marriage and parenthood in grammar school in the Czech Republic. The main objective of the thesis is to develop a teaching strategies for subjects and topics relating to the partnership, marriage and parenthood in grammar school. To achieve this objective detail targets have been set and constitute the content and structure of the work. The work is divided into seven chapters, the first four terminologically support research and application of the work. Own contribution was on the basis of gained facts (the results of the research) to create a guide with practical ideas how to tackle with these issues. In addition to that, how to work with grammar school students with these issues through different activities (meetings, lectures, projects and elective subject) by implementing the expected outputs of health education subject on grammar schools (under FEP SE), which includes the following topics.

Export opportunities of Czech entities on the market of Saudi Arabia with a view to the cutural diversity

The main goal of this bachelor thesis is to point out the main export opportunities of Czech entities on Saudi market with a view to the cultural diversity. I would like to find out which fields offer the best prospects for Czech - Saudi cooperation and how the cultural diversity affects the business world. The first chapter describes the basic information about Saudi Arabia, its geography, demographical figures, political system, brief history and its participation in international and regional organizations. The second chapter deals with foreign trade and economy of Saudi Arabia. It includes the analysis of sectors, main macro-economic indicators and territorial and commodity structures. The third part is concerned with relations between the Czech Republic and Saudi Arabia. I concentrate on balance of trade and the areas of possible cooperation between these two countries. Important parts of this chapter are also SWOT analysis and export strategy of the Czech Republic. The last chapter focuses on cultural differences, specifics of business negotiations and common life of Saudi inhabitants. I describe the Saudis in accordance with cultural dimension defined by Geert Hofstede.

Planning as a part of CPM concept and its practical implementation

Diploma thesis is focused on enterprise planning. The main part of the thesis is dedicated to the design of the planning model in the SW company, which comes from real condition of big SW company. The first chapter introduces the world of enterprise planning to the reader. There are clarified reasons of current rise of demand in this area of planning and the advantages of its use. The following chapter explains the essential theory related to enterprise planning area. It also mentions other system approaches to enterprise planning. In the end of the chapter there are described main principles of the CPM concept and its relation to enterprise planning. The fourth chapter is aimed at the current state, requirements and the issues of the planning processes in companies. The outcome of this chapter is set of recommendations for company planning process and company plans itself. The next chapter familiarizes the reader with the current market situation of the planning suites. There are described main players on this market (and their products), acquisitions proceeded in last time and awaited evolution in future. The sixth chapter is focused on the real planning project itself. It introduces the used product -- Cognos Planning. It follows with description of the main principles of model building -- the essential terminology, key plan objects on which basis is the model built and the process of the model development. At the end of chapter is the summary of the project and its contribution to company. The end of thesis depicts expected progress in this sphere of planning and evaluates the fulfillment of thesis targets and its contribution to this area.

Methodology Comparison of the Statement of Cash Flows as Regulated by Czech Accounting Legislation, IFRS and US GAAP

This masters thesis main focus is a statement of cash flows as regulated by czech accounting legislation, International Financial Reporting Standards and US GAAP. First chapter describes the importance of Statement of cash flows and his value added for users of financial statements. The historical context of the statement is shown, it is stated which entities are obligated to report statement of cash flows and lastly the internal structure of the statement is discussed. The second chapter begins by general methods of preparing the statement, then so called specific items are dealt with. The solution of some advanced accounting transactions (government grants, leases, loans, deferred payments etc.) is described. In the end the presentation and dislocure requirements are discussed. Last chapter contains research, where 99 companies are researched, answers are made concerning stated research questions and research hypothesis are concluded.
