Methods for class prediction with high-dimensional gene expression data

Dizertační práce se zabývá predikcí vysokodimenzionálních dat genových expresí. Množství dostupných genomických dat významně vzrostlo v průběhu posledního desetiletí. Kombinování dat genových expresí s dalšími daty nachází uplatnění v mnoha oblastech. Například v klinickém řízení rakoviny (clinical cancer management) může přispět k přesnějšímu určení prognózy nemocí. Hlavní část této dizertační práce je zaměřena na kombinování dat genových expresí a klinických dat. Používáme logistické regresní modely vytvořené prostřednictvím různých regularizačních technik. Generalizované lineární modely umožňují kombinování modelů s různou strukturou dat. V dizertační práci je ukázáno, že kombinování modelu dat genových expresí a klinických dat může vést ke zpřesnění výsledku predikce oproti vytvoření modelu pouze z dat genových expresí nebo klinických dat. Navrhované postupy přitom nejsou výpočetně náročné. Testování je provedeno nejprve se simulovanými datovými sadami v různých nastaveních a následně s~reálnými srovnávacími daty. Také se zde zabýváme určením přídavné hodnoty microarray dat. Dizertační práce obsahuje porovnání příznaků vybraných pomocí klasifikátoru genových expresí na pěti různých sadách dat týkajících se rakoviny prsu. Navrhujeme také postup výběru příznaků, který kombinuje data genových expresí a znalosti z genových ontologií.

Surface modification of glass fibers for polymer composites

The doctoral thesis is aimed at preparation of glass fiber reinforced polymer composites with controlled interphase formed by plasma-polymerized tetravinylsilane and tetravinylsilane/oxygen thin films. The thin polymer films of specific physico-chemical properties and thickness were deposited to improve interfacial adhesion of glass fiber/polyester composites. The fiber surface modification was performed by using plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition in low-temperature RF plasma operating in an various effective power range and different treatment time. Test results were examined in relation to the interlayer thickness and different treatment conditions. The prepared interlayers were analyzed to evaluate physico-chemical composition and properties (XPS, RBS, ERDA, FTIR and spectroscopic elipsometry). Selected mechanical properties were evaluated by AFM. Mechanical response of plasma interlayers was evaluated by short beam shear test and direct method of testing the interfacial shear strength using microindentation. The interphase shear failure was controlled by the shear strength at the interlayer/fiber interface as follows from experimental and model data.

The Introduction of Contact Ecotoxicity Tests for the Assessment of Terrestrial Ecosystems

This dissertation thesis is focus on using toxicity tests with testing organism - terrestrial isopod Porcellio scaber. This organism is use for toxicity assessment of selected anorganic compunds which could contaminate terrestrial ecosystem. This organism was selected for several reasons - sophisticated test methodology; well known biology of these animals and their ecological relevance. Besides classical endpoints such as mortality, change in mass of test specimens and the effect of the presence and concentration of contaminants onto food consumption; we monitored changes in the morphometric characteristics at the level of tissues and cells, the cytotoxicity and possibly bioaccumulation in various parts of the body of the organism. Selected test substance in this thesis were nanoparticles and inorganic salts. Wherein for chosen gold nanoparticles was carried out a complete study presents several levels of organization of living matter (organism, tissue, cell). For selected salts compound, this study was carried out on the behavior of organisms and classical endpoints.

Online Subject Searching of Dissertations

This paper evaluates searching for doctoral dissertations by topic in various online systems. The situation in the Czech Republic is introduced, including the problems involved in completing successful topical searches for dissertations – is it possible to find all relevant materials, or is it sufficient just to find something? The Czech situation is then compared with how systems abroad, particularly in the United States, are being implemented with new access routes for dissertations in the form of linked open data, in which controlled vocabularies of subject terms figure prominently. The paper also discusses how selected European systems whose dissertations are already presented in the WorldCat database will cope with a challenge: “... Over time, these references [for topic entities] will be replaced with persistent URIs to... Linked Data resources”?

Relationship between petrographic parameters and technological properties of clastic sedimentary rocks used for crushed stone

This diploma thesis is focused on the finding and describing of the relationships between petrological parameters and technological properties of rocks used for the production of aggregates (crushed stone). Rock specimens were selected from a geological area of Culm (Lower Carboniferous age) in the area of Nízký Jeseník Mts. and Drahanská vrchovina uplands in the Czech Republic. Studied localities were selected on the basis of the current quarrying operations and also to represent the different strata. The six studied localities encompass Kobylí, Chabičov, and Bělkovice where Horní Benešov formation of Nízký Jeseník is exposed. Locality Valšov represents Andělské Hory formation and locality Nová Ves and Loštice represent Protivanov formation of Drahanská vrchovina uplands. Two specimens were taken from the locality Loštice (one from the second cut because there are produced low-grade aggregates and the third cut where high quality crushed stone is produced). A detailed mineralogical-petrographic examination of the samples was the first step, in an attempt to obtain their mineralogical composition and to identify the major rock-forming clasts. Determination of the company value

This diploma thesis was focused on determination of the company value in the chosen company. For this purpose was chosen two mostly used methods on the Czech market. First one was method of discounted cash flow and the second one was method of the economic added value. Main sources for all the calculation were annual reports and financial statements for the period of five last years from 2011 to 2015. These basis were used for developing a prediction for the following five year period till 2020.

Environmental Friendly Accommodation in a Particular Area

Theme of thesis is environmentally friendly accommodation in Trebon and surroundings. The main objective is to identify friendly approaches in the accommodation offers in the friendly area and assess the significance of friendly approaches in the strategy of companies, which offer accommodation. From the survey, in which respondents' interest was investigated in environmentally friendly accommodation, was created demand analysis and based on Internet resources and unstructured interviews analysis of the supply of accommodation. From the observed results were determined proposals and measures for improvement.

Analysis of the Economy of the Town Horní Planá

The diploma thesis is focused on budgetary economy of selected minucipality, in this case the town Horní Planá. There are described functions of the municipality, its institutions and a property, separation of the property and management with it. The thesis is focused on a budgetary economy of a municipality, a budget, a budget composition, where are defined budgetary incomes and expeditures and subsequently a budgetary outlook is analyzed there. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the economy of the town Horní Planá, which is performed on the data in the next five years, based on the analysis recommend possible measures to achieve the optimum relationship between the economy, efficiency and effectiveness, or finding potential funding sources. Partial aims are evaluation of the progression budgets in the period and to determine the effects of ganges of incomes and expenditures in different years, to analyze cash flow over the period and evaluate influences on cash flow and the analysis of the property of selected municipality and its funding.

Identification opportunities for the selected company

The main aim of this Diploma thesis called "Identification opportunities for the selected company" is to identify the opportunities on market and to provide possible solutions how to use these opportunities. The Diploma thesis is divided into two main parts. First part is a literature overview that should give the reader the basic knowledge and understanding of the topic. Where the information was gained by studying different sources related to the main aim of the thesis. Second part is the analytical part of the thesis. Different analysis has been chosen to support the work. The marketing situation analysis was used and included the analysis of the macroenvironment (the STEP analysis), the microenvironment, market and sales. This analysis was followed by the analysis of part of the external environment (Porter's model of five competitive forces). The last part of the analytical part is focused on the internal analysis. The human resources, finance, sales and products were analysed. The findings from the analytical chapter were used for the final SWOT analysis.

Strategy marketing in a chosen company

The aim of the thesis is to suggest a marketing strategy for a specific company, including the marketing plan in order to deal with possible changes resulting from the current situation. Strategic marketing process, which is based on the strategic management process consists of planning, implementation and control. On the basis of marketing situational analysis SWOT analysis was set up, marketing objectives were defined, strategies were formulated and a marketing plan was suggested. The implementation of a plan is a part of an implementation phase. Finally, the interim results were evaluated and possible changes were proposed, which should lead to the achievement of the planned outputs at the end of the period.
