Tax Changes, Economic and Election Cycle

This thesis is focused on the tax changes in the Czech Republic. It examines the taxes' influence during the election period. The thesis starting with Tax Theory and Theory of Public Choice. The general government establishes the taxes; however, there are special-interest groups and bureaucracy, which enforce their interest. The government changes the tax rates to prevent cyclical fluctuations in the economy. The opportunistic theory says that politicians encourage measures that represents the Median Voter in order to be re-elected. The ideological theory says that there is a difference between leftist and rightist parties. These theories are investigated under the conditions of the Czech Republic in 1995 and 2016. The thesis is focused on changes of the revenue side of the state budget. The data are used and are available on the website of the Czech Statistical Office, Finanční správa ČR, AMECO and Revenue Statistics of OECD. To demonstrate of political budget cycle is used the Least Squares Method. The explained variable is tax quota and the revenues of individual taxes. The explanatory variables are: election year, year after election and the reign of the leftist party, which is called Česká sociálně demo-kratická strana (ČSSD). The next explanatory variables are enter of the Czech Republic to European Union and the debt of state budget. The result is to prove the existence of the ideological concept of political-budget cycle in the Czech Republic.
Electoral campaign of Green party before election in Chamber of Deputies in 2010

The thesis Electoral Campaign of the Green Party to the Chamber of Deputies in 2010 deals with the analysis of the electoral campaign of the GP which was taking place from autumn 2009 till May 2010. It describes the historical evolution of the GP and mainly the instruments used and the overall strategy of the electoral campaign. Regarding the political situation and cancelled elections from the autumn 2009, the thesis deals with the whole campaign with its two peaks in October 2009 and May 2010.
Scottish National Party after 1999

The aim of this paper is to analyse the development of the Scottish National Party and to try to outline its future. The method used in this case study is process tracing. The paper is based particularly on Scottish Parliament election results, on the changes of the leader of the SNP, on the election campaign and manifesto of the SNP and its perception in the Scottish media. The author makes the conclusion that the party leader and the election manifesto are the main causes of the SNP election success.
Socio-economic aspects in the programs of the parliamentary political parties

This bachelor work deals with socio-economic aspects of the parliamentary political parties before elections to the Parliament of the Czech Republic in June 2010. Based on the analysis of selected socio-economic aspects was carried out the comparison of these aspects, both in the relationship between the parties of the right political spectrum and left political spectrum. In this work were used structural elements of Public Choice Theory, focusing on the median voter. Delimitation of the definition of the median voter results from public choice theory. Through the identification and classification into a specific position in the political spectrum was made an attempt at the practical application of Public Choice Theory. Based on the available data and information this attempt can be considered certain objective findings.
Political parties' functionning on municipal level: the case study of Milevsko

The main goal of the submitted thesis was to analyze seven political parties that were running for the municipal election in Milevsko in 2010. I focused on description of the candidate list structure and electioneering. The thesis also reveals the way of cooperation inside political parties and their representatives as well as parties' campaign funding. The first chapter defines the theory and characterize the municipal elections in general. Second chapter - Milevsko includes the main figures and data about Milevsko and election 2010 result. Third chapter is dedicated to the individual political parties and the last chapter describes the post-election bargaining and coalition forming.
Analysis of election platforms of the parliamentary political parties in 2010 in the field of direct taxation

In this bachelor thesis "An analysis of election platforms of the parliamentary political parties in 2010 in the field of direct taxation," the reader will learn about individual electoral programs of political parties in terms of direct taxes. The first descriptive part is devoted to the development of tax policy and direct taxes in the Czech Republic. The main goal is the division of political parties according to the compatibility of their election platforms in direct taxes and estimation of impacts of the election results in tax revenues, which builds on previous compatibility analysis. With processing of the information I have concluded that the compatibility of election platforms is the highest both for the right wing parties and for the left wing parties and left wing parties try to heighten tax revenues.
